  1. That seems like a complicated plan with a lot of moving pieces. Basically trade Kesler and a 2nd for Jenner because Pouliot is an unproven D-kid and Stanton seems to be a diamond in the rough. I don't think that would improve the team, we'd be better off keeping Kesler.
  2. OUCH! Trev is/was more a spokesperson than a mascot. That hurt a little, I can admit that.
  3. Goaltending definitely is a huge question, and I agree the change are warranted at this point. I predicted before this all went down that Torts would go and Gillis would stay, but now I have to think unless the new GM wants Torts they will both be gone. I'm not worried at all about the players we have as much as the players we need, like a PMD and winger for Kes. I am starting to really believe that Gillis was let go at least partly because at the beginning of the season we had two awesome goalies and now we have none. That has to be a factor. I hope you are right about coaches having input, I always prefer that scenario, after all, it's their system.
  4. It's not just the PP but that was a major part of it. It was also such a dramatically difference of style of play. The sheer amount of skating and top 6 minutes had to factor into it. I don't want to see Hank n Dank killing penalties next year, I like Burr on the PK and picking an alternate winger to play with the twins after a PK. I don't necessarily miss Coach V but I do miss a few of the systems he employed.
  5. He may have, but consider this. Shanny was working for the owners, the GMs work directly for the owners so he may be in a really good position to navigate the old boys network. He is also in the HOF which adds cred and he would likely be able to repel the stickiness that a newcomer GM (or former agent) where Gillis couldn't. Shanny was on the right side of the fence to start, Gillis was an agent, he would have been much more hated than any bridge Shanny burned.
  6. We are both guilty, but hey, it comes from passion of the same team and goal so I'm down. I don't think we are far off on our opinion, in my original post I was not referring to Manny coming back for the finals. The fact he played when he was conveniently needed and then shut down the next season was suspect. Manny being shut down in 2012 wasn't suspect...to me. Now he has had the time to heal I am literally ecstatic for him. I hope he ends up back here in some capacity, he is a warrior.
  7. I have to agree, it's hefty mix of luck, skill and team that matches up against your competitors. Team health is also a huge advantage.
  8. OK man, I sat in my car and listened to the whole thing, you're not some unique poster with info unavailable to everyone else. I may be immature, but it is a defense mechanism against your trolling. I really couldn't care what you think anymore, I'm out, if you have something intelligent to add, I'll respond maturely. If you are going to keep walking the douche path then your "smart" reply to this will be our last correspondence.
  9. I have to connect some dots here. As soon as Gillis is gone, we (and the media) are tossing around names to be his successor. Shanny's name comes up for Vancouver. Not long after, Shanny is of course going to TO to be there GM not Vancouver. It seems anytime, any name is tossed around for any team, he is going to the Leafs. Well, I say fill your boots. I don't want another rookie GM. Now here is my bold prediction. Where does Gillis end up???? Yezzir, Toronto.
  10. Do you understand the English language? Exactly where did Hank say we are "close to the cup". This doofus is a troll and I have no more food for it.
  11. Perhaps you should, you're the one putting words in Hank's mouth.
  12. Stupid. Assuming the players have been calling the shots is absolutely fraacking crazy. I'm with Hank, we can easily push for a playoff spot next season.
  13. Maybe we could bring Messier in and make him President and GM so he can strip another title from Trev. I would seriously lose my mind if Messier was ever a part of the Canucks ever again. There are few people I hate more in the world than messier, let alone in the game of hockey.
  14. And because you disagree it is a LOL. Who's to say Hank is wrong. Maybe if Torts errrr, the new coach manages the roster better we will be fighting for a playoff spot next season. It's not that unbelievable.
  15. That is your opinion and you're entitled to it. I don't think Manny should have come back at all until he was well into his recovery. I am a Manny fan, I am happy he is back in the NHL but I wouldn't sign him and I will not factor nostalgia into it. I am not (and did not) defending Gillis' decision to bring back Manny in the playoffs and I agree it was a poor decision. He should not have played until he had his chance with Carolina. Manny wanted to come back and he shouldn't have been allowed, the players word should not trump a doctor. My point is, Manny should have been shut down, the decision to play in the playoffs shouldn't change the fact that he still couldn't see in 2012.
  16. Minus 1. That is such a crock. It's not a freakin charity and Manny had no vision in one eye. I was never a Gillis fan and I am happy to see where we go from here, but you are way off base on this. You know who agrees with me and disagrees with you? Wally Buono. Manny is lucky he has vision let alone the memories of an NHL career.
  17. Meh to Gillis being fired YES to Linden as Presidient No to Nazzy as a GM NO to Feaster as GM ...teetering on Torts. Can his system work here next season?
  18. Booth gets a hatty. DUCK SLAYER!!!!!! If you want the Canucks to lose for a better draft spot, you are not a fan.
  19. Seemed like a candid interview from a frustrated GM. One thing is for, we are going to see some new faces, For the times they are a-changin'
  20. I don't think we will be seeing Cedarholm for a while. He will still have eligibility for junior next year and I expect he will be there given there is no need to rush him into Utica and into a pro contract. We have a lot of D.
  21. After watching many hits today, including 4,387 angles of the Nino on Burr hit, I have come up with this conclusion. I am 100% positive that if Burrows did not pull his tongue back into his mouth before the hit, he would have bit his tongue. Even Elvis has to agree with that...doesn't he?
  22. That's accurate in that he targeted the body and hit the body as well as the head. I "think" that Edler made every reasonable attempt to keep the contact light and Hertl's positioning should have been given consideration...I don't know that it wasn't. I don't suppose we're going to mesh on this one, I agree to disagree.
