What a great game.......exciting, well executed, beauty plays, great goaltending.  It had a little of everything.  One of the best games I've watched in awhile.

Going to be a tough test if the end up going against Calgary, but it's a very successful season regardless

I feel like we may be able to surprise them if we match up against them. Our last 3 games of the season against them showed we can. Plus maybe take em down while they are sleepy from the bye week…I got a dodgy feeling about Colorado if we face them. No reason really just feel like if we face Calgary and beat them it will really galvanize this team.

Its a very different sort of atmosphere. Much more intimate setting as you are closer to the ice, and you definitely hear the crowd much better.

It was a nervous feeling first period in the rink but Rathbone's goal sent the crowd into a frenzy. Crowd really got into heckling Calvin Pickard (Bakerfield's goalie) and it was really loud.

Would definitely reccommend coming once. The vibe is much different compared to a regular Vancouver Canucks game. Plus the washroom and concession lines are wayyy shorter :P

Thanks for the info. I like the valley a lot, so happy to have our farm team out there. My father lives in Fort Langley so I get down there a couple times a year. Free place to stay at least!

Also gonna be going to Penticton for young stars if I can get time off. The rink is awesome there too.

Was at the game tonight a second straight game for me, and it was electric tonight.

You could feel the energy, anxiety, nervousness in the first period, but the 1st goal from Rathbone really set the joint a blaze.

One thing I will say, Abbotsford did not back down when they were physically challenged and Bakersfield resorted to cheap antics throughout the game. Players like Raty, Klimovich, Nielsen, Karlsson were under the skin of the Condors all game long stirring the pot. Spicy game...crowd was great serenading the Condors at the empty net goal. Condors play dirty.

    That crowd looked awesome!

If they get deeper than second round I think  i’m gonna try and come south for a game! But it’s a 15 hr drive for me so it’s gotta be worth it lol.

Cheers to you and all the fans who kept the barn bumping last night!

Canucks playoffs hockey! I love it.

He's listed as 6'1" and 178 lbs, but about a month ago the intermission piece on him said he was 6' 2" and playing at 195 lbs.  If he could just develop another gear he'd be a prototypical power forward at that height and weight and skill level

He’s gotta be 6’2” 195, he looks big and solid out there. He’s a bull on the puck

    Looks like another good signing.

Hard worker that wants to be here.

I have been impressed by him so far. He is very agile out there. I didn’t think this was the player we were getting. I was thinking two way guy, safe player. North south etc. But he is speedy/kinda crafty and can play east/west quite well it seems. There is some offensive upside to him. Imo

Coaching staff obviously picked up on it right away and started giving him top line minutes. He hasn’t looked out of place at all. I’d say even snake bitten his first few games. Glad to see him notch a couple points before season was over, he was due.

Players make mistakes. Even Bobby Orr made mistakes. The issue with Kuz Missile is he loses his focus on playing the right way. It’s not about a mistake here and there (which all players have) It’s about commitment to playing the right way consistently. Kuz gets trapped on the wrong side of the puck a lot. He turns away from contact. He strays from straight line play. He makes high risk - low reward plays with the puck.
Yet in the shootout who does Tocchet tap on the shoulder? Kuz Missile. Tocchet knows the elite skill Kuz has can’t be taught. But to play the right way can. He’s teaching Kuz how to play winning hockey.

    Well said Alf.

Thought the same things last night and through the entire season of Kuz. I think he is definitely worth his defensive warts. But I don’t think there is harm in benching him when he is having a bad game. Kuz understands, he had his head down in frustration, shaking it constantly, he knew he had a bad game. But coach Toc giving him a bone in shoot out shows him the respect he has for his abilities. Good move I think.

Kuz understands where he needs to be better and I think a full off season to get ready for next one will really benefit a guy like him. He’s super motivated, he see’s Peteys commitment to defence, he gets it. I really hope he comes back next season and blows a hole through the roof of Rogers. I mean he come in, first year, doesn’t know English, doesn’t know NHL routine, etc…and has this kind of season. Next year he will be prepared and I think that’s super exciting. Looking forward to it. Him, Petey, and Hughes were fun to watch all year.

I used to think they were so weird looking to the point that they became cute. I had a French Bulldog once upon a time enter my life for a couple of years and it's been one of my favourite breeds ever since.

Kinda the same really. I always had bigger dogs. My wife fell in love with one, then we got two…it’s ridiculous how much I like them really lol. Cheers

I have no issue with the deal, especially as the Abby guys have stepped up.

No neither do I. It’s been great to see all the kids in the line up finally. The Utica years were spent loaded full of AHL vets and ECHL call ups. Still good hockey to watch but didn’t move the needle much in getting satisfaction from watch home grown talent get better and better then finally make the big club. It’s not like we didn’t have young guys in Utica we just did not have the coaching staff to get them geared up for the next level. Utica has so many misses when it comes to young guys not panning out…oh well good to see times changing in Abbotsford!

There's a very good chance Bloom never plays a game in the NHL.

Could get a chance to scope him out in the AHL tho, get a good idea of what we have. Maybe Abby can make something out of him…The young kids Colliton has been moulding and excelling are kinda shocking me. Nielsen, Wouters, Bains, Woo finally looking good. All these young guys who I watched Cull try and mould year after year but never seem to crack the NHL line up…and now this year all these guys are coming up looking like pros? I liked Cull and he always kept the farm team competitive and was never given much roster wise…but the leaps and bounds this year from young guys on the farm is pretty astonishing…long rambling story short, there could be a good chance Bloom could pan out into a bottom line forward.

I haven’t been on here for a bit Stawns, has it been asked if Bloom is eligible to play in this years AHL playoffs?

I highly doubt that he would be willing to move to North America in his draft +1 year, because he's currently in the midst of a 2- year professional training stint. He receives training as a recruiter in a HR department in a company. The company he's with is a team sponsor. He takes his second project seriously and therefore I expect that he will complete his training in summer 2024. Headcoach Jeff Tomlinson has already talked to him and highlighted that staying with the team for another year would greatly benefit his development as a player. Keep in mind, that he has a big role on his team. He's the No.1 Defenceman and plays in all situations. One NHL scout who watched several games said that Reinbacher was the best player in these games for EHC Kloten.

Did not know this! At least we can get him over after that. I like drafting players that can come over and play in our teams system right away. Like what we did with Klimovich.

I think Reinbacher would be their guy around 9-11

He's the guy I really want. You can bring him over right away I think from the league he's playing in. Draft him and get him on Abbys roster and take if from there. I think RD is our biggest need prospect wise. Obviously if we end up with a top 3 pick you take the best guy available but if not Reinbacher is who I would target.
