  1. I see we are beating dead horses on a Sunday morning, lol I joke…This trade has not aged well unfortunately.

But we are stuck with OEL for the foreseeable future so may as well get numb to it. He does provide decently enough for a second pairing d man (not like we had any other options to replace Edler when he left) but his cap hit hurts so bad. If we held onto Beagle, Rooster, and Loui they would all be off the books by now…hurts to think that. But JB was swinging for the fences to save his job and got desperate. Sucks but is what it is…I do think if we round our defence out better his game will improve and provide better value. That’s all we can hope for now.

Garland on the other hand I think is very movable. He has enough history for another team to take a swing at him and get him going again. Shorter”ish” contract and manageable cap a deal can be done no problem with a bit of retention. It won’t be sexy but a hockey trade can be done here.

My gut says Demmer is done as an elite goaltender. Big red flag when they won’t say what his off season surgery was for. If his hips never get right again he is done.

We’ve been spoiled with over a decade of stellar goaltending. Where do we go from here?

Goalie graveyard purgatory…just like before Luongo…Essensa, Potvin, Raycroft, Weeks, Cloutier, Auld, Skudra, Hedberg, Snow, Irbe, Burke…we literally tried all of them at the end of their careers lol…I sure hope that’s not going to happen again!

Every time he gives away the puck, then doesn't back check, I question JT's determination to win.

Also every time he coasts to the bench, during play, for a line change- I questionhis determination to not lose.

I keep wondering that myself. I think we’re dealing with a guy who is realizing how long he has signed here for and may be regretting it. I dunno, he just seems flat.

Been wondering about an even cap trade with Nashville. Send Miller to Nashville for Johansen, bring home a 30 year old actual center, home town boy. 8 mil at 3 years left compared to JTs. Just wonder if Nash has the stomach to do this.

They like us are squat in the middle and have lots of long term vets, this may push them in a good direction with a revitalized JT.

Johansen stabilizes us for the next 3 years as a good 2 c behind Petey and allows us to insulate ourselves if we can’t re sign Bo.

Not a sexy trade, but it’s a hockey trade that could be done. Have to wonder what JTs extra years will cost us, maybe not much if they really like him, they may be willing to do it just based on JTs upside is way higher than Johansen…he’s basically topped out as a 50 point center. Nash is trying to still contend and make the playoffs with all their vets JT would give them a good last push at things.

And they get them again on Wednesday night!

This team could be leading the conference by the weekend.

It’s a great turnaround from where they started this year. It definitely coincides with the big club sending Podz, Hogz, Rathbone back down. And now Aman. Team is stacked with up and coming talent. Fun to watch.

Also love this Tristan Neilsen kid. He’s an absolute gamer. And Klimovich coming along nicely too.

    Lots to like right now.

    Canucks Win! Canucks Win!

They move within 3 points of the conference lead!

    Solid win tonight.

Our swedish line had a hell of a night! Karlsson is a beauty to watch. Offensively smooth. Defensively committed. I really like this guy.

Wolanin having a hell of a season too. Been Mr everything for this team on the back end.

Silovs with some big stops to save the game.

Took down a top team tonight. And showed they belong.

his play and attitude don't factor into it for me as much as it might seem.  For me, it was always more about his age and the timeline of this team.  He will be on the decline, just as the young core is getting to their peak and needing that cap space.  It was a poorly thought out strategy, imo

For sure, I can’t argue that point. And you have been very clear as well as others from the get go that this was your reasoning. I definitely respect that and get it. I don’t see it as hating or bashing on the guy when the argument is framed in that manner.

Who cares he needs to be held accountable like everyone else. Barking at his teammates when he’s been invisible most nights is not okay.

I’m glad Boudreau has the balls to make this move. It’s the right move. If he’s an actual leader he’ll find a way to ip his game and contribute.

BB has used that 3rd line as a punishment almost all year…Brock, Kuzmenko, now Miller…I just wish we had a solid 3rd line. Our top 2 in various mixes has produced results. Our 4th line has been ok…our 3rd line is a mess…that needs to be stabilized. I don’t like that BB uses it to send a message.

I think he's tradeable, they just have to accept that they won't get a whole ton for him.  As I said before, if Backstrom really is done, Washington might be a good landing spot for him.

At least they would have the cap for him if he is done. Makes sense. I just hate how this is all going down. I may be a minority on here that still likes JT and has patience for him. But lately my confidence is shaken and I look at that 8 year contract and can’t help but worry about the long term affect of all this. Time will tell I guess, I’m still hopping for a turnaround from JT. Maybe my glasses are too rosey tho lol.

I do think some of those players make their own beds, certainly in the case of NS.  Not that he did anything to specifically ruffle feathers, but there was definitley a bt of a holier than thou attitude and that doesn't go over well in this market, imo.

I can agree to that, which is what makes me concerned about JT. He does have that attitude as well…except now he’s locked up long term. I don’t think he’s tradeable right now, he needs to learn how to calm himself down or we’re heading into a very bad territory with him. For us fans and the player himself I sure hope it all gets worked out.

There is no denying he is a great talent and worth the 8 mil if he plays up to his potential that we have seen…but if he doesn’t turn things around it’s scary to think what management will have to do to fix the situation. I hate to say it but right now it’s best to sit on it and see how it all pans out because we will get fleeced in any trade involving JT.

Clear sign of desperation to me.  Throwing things against a whiteboard and hoping something makes sense.

To me BB looks like a completely different person from when he was initially hired.   This past 10mo or so have seemed to take a toll on him, it's clear in his demeanor in interviews and his overall vibe behind the bench.

This market does things to people. Look at Benning, he looked so haggard and worn out by the end of it. Players leaving or wanting out, rumours of course…but doesn’t look good.

I remember being excited for Holtby to come to Van…the right away gets dragged into drama over the art from his mask. It just went down hill from there for him. Nate Schmidt since going to Winnipeg has played solid, he’s living in Winterpeg and not saying a word…what does that tell you? Then this year Dickenson going to Chicago, he’s having a way better year over there. The micro analyzing of everything just wears guys out here…that being said it’s like that in Toronto and Montreal as well. I think it takes special people who can take the heat and keep going. That’s why I get nervous for certain players when they come here, do they even want to be here playing in a market like this!? It just never seems to be part of managements decision when they make a trade.

  11. Money grab, but I don’t mind it. Makes sense. I hope they don’t put fake snow everywhere like they did for Vancouvers heritage classic against Ottawa…that was a travesty. I was there for it, and I was disgusted lol. It was horrendous looking. Looking back I should have tried harder to get Luongo signature in my jersey…me and my buddies that went kinda knew it may be his last game with us. Had good seats too, could have walked right up to him…but de beers got in de way and de-railed us…

The Abbotsford Canucks are fun, I hope they keep Podz and Hoglander with them

It’s been fun to watch winning Canucks hockey for a change…

All jokes aside it’s been a good break from the main club woes and worth the watch. I’ve really thought lately Woo has been looking better and better and playing more confident….opposite for Rathbone though, he’s been invisible in my opinion and playing quite un inspired. Isn’t getting top PP time either, hasn’t done anything to deserve it. I’m tough on the kid cause I really had high hopes for him. But he’s turning into Subban/Rafferty real quick here.

The straw manning that goes on at this website is amazing.

You say something and get replies that have little, or nothing to do with what you said.

    e.g.

" Miller is having a rough time playing center ice this year"

    reply received

" Why are you giving the rest of the team a free pass?".

Maybe it is because they aren't actually giving the team a free pass?

    Perhaps it is because

a- this is a thread about Miller

b- it is not a thread about the rest of the team

c- the rest of the team was not even  mentioned, in the thread, until the previous poster tried to use that as a 'gotcha' moment?

And round and round it goes Gurn.

I’m guilty of standing up for Miller all year now. But even I’m reaching a head scratching point with him. I love the fire and grit he brings…but the opposite is sure ugly when things don’t go his way.

I still think the Delia thing is over blown but his on ice antics ie: sulking to the bench are getting to be too much. No one likes a poor sport. And that’s literally what it’s looking like these days.

Not sure what the answer is either. I liked some posters response a bit ago saying that Green was able to keep him on a leash better than Bruce…that could be a major factor. Perhaps Bruce just doesn’t have the personality to reign an over the top alpha dog in. Interesting thought at least.
