Talking to his side or not, I still think we should trade him. Moving out Horvat, Schenn, and Kuzmenko at a minimum would go a long way towards acquiring picks, prospects, and young players who may be able to make the jump.

I'd move out Miller too of course if a team will take him. I still think he's got some value we'd just likely have to take a sizeable amount of cap back.

I like Kuzmenko’s attitude so I’d rather keep him. You’d need to move one of Miller or Boeser though. Otherwise just doesn’t seem an option.

Personal preference I’d keep Boeser for now and trade Horvat, Miller and Schenn.

  2. Was reading a transcript based off a Boston podcast that talked about how Bruins would need to move some cap to make a Horvat trade and sign work. The sports guys were proposing Carlo be the guy that moved. They’re also rumoured to be interested in Schenn. Therefore,

    Horvat

    Schenn

    3rd

    for

    Carlo

    Lysell

    1st

    Thoughts?

I keep seeing that BOS is very interested and talks continue etc. So, it sounds like Horvat could be going to BOS, if the rumours are true.

Who does BOS have though? Fabian Lysell?  That's pretty much it.

I don't think BOS is a great trading partner, they don't have the prospects that DET, CBJ, LA and NJ have.

I got an uneasy feeling the return could be something like:

    Craig Smith (UFA)

    Jacob Zboril

    Fabian Lysell

Smith walks after the season and clears more cap space for JR. Yuck. It better be more than that.

    Debrusk, Lysell and 1st?

That bold explains exactly why I think he wouldn't meet his potential (according to reports he started the season with McDavid... and had 1 point in 10 games - if you can't produce with the elites then the rest of your game better be competent to keep such a coveted spot, and lately he's been on L4/ PP2).  If he can't produce with 97/ 29 you'll have a tough time convincing anyone that he'll do better with Petey (I'd rather wait and see if the Oil even qualify him or if they want to give him a fresh start as a UFA, which if they do then I'd be open to signing him for league minimum to see what he has to offer).  Unless we can flip his rights for another pick, I don't see why we should take him on as a project when we already should find space for Hoglander/ Podkolzin next year.

Tons of guys hit higher potentials once traded. Plus he’s more in the power forward mild so better chance he develops later.

but as I said he’s not the main piece of this trade but adds allows cap compliance and some potential value

As long as we can just sell them as pending free agents (don't permit the Oilers to talk to them before trading them, or you'd be helping the enemy) I'd be down; that is quite the haul to be getting back (they can keep Puljujarvi though, I don't think he'll reach his potential at this rate, and he'd come at a pricey QO when we don't need more pricey, underachieving wingers).

Puljujarvi balances the cap. I don’t think he has much trade value right now. Considering he’s playing with some highly elite players he should have more points.

He might succeed here and that’d be great but his next contract will be low.

I see Kuzmenko being worth a 1st+ and Schenn a 2nd+ so an added third and Puljujarvi seems fair

  6. Not a fan of this. Let Bruce run out the rest of the year. Give a new coach a fresh start next year with a dramatically changed team. I don’t feel Bruce is the problem right now, it’s players attitudes from what I can see.

move Miller, Horvat, Boeser and Schenn this deadline.

get back a top 6 centre prospect, top 4 RD prospect and some first rounders

And then use that second to dumperoo Myers?

Out Garland + Myers and 11 mil in cap.

    In Zaitsev and 4.5 mil.

Big cap savings to extend Bo and Kuz Missile?

Myers is UFA next year so I’d keep him as a potential rental sale next year unless you can trade him sooner without giving up an asset.

I’d look at trading Boeser for a reclamation type player and a prospect or two.

    something like Boeser+2nd for Greenway+Addison and/or Öhgren.

that should leave room to sign Bo

Would love to see Schneider here but I can’t see the Rags giving him up. For Patty Kane, sure, but I’m not sure if they do it for Horvat.  Would love to be proven wrong though.

Don’t agree at all. Horvat is only 27, scored 30 goals last year and on pace for 60 this year (will more likely be in the high 40 low 50 range).

Someone is going to really need to give up some very good assets to get him. I’m disappointed we didn’t trade Miller so that we have the room for all our guys but management made a different call then I’d have liked.

Horvat is easily worth a young prospect like Schneider and more on top of that. Especially since he has more quality years ahead of him compared to Kane

Kakko is not a full time centre. So we lose our best face off guy, and one of our better scoring forwards. And would have nothing to replace it with. Both Chytil and Kakko have horrible face off percentages. So you basically fill one hole and leave a gaping hole up front. Unless a draft pick is coming back to Vancouver (Like a late 1st rounder) and the idea is to tank.

if we add Schneider on D we become a way better team. Hughes-Schneider would be that top pair you win cups with.

Kakko replaces Boeser when he’s traded and Boeser could fetch us a quality centre prospect. I like Kuzmenko but the way he’s playing may price him out of our Cap so he might be the guy to trade this deadline, but who knows. So Maybe Garland, Boeser or Kuzmenko gets you something like Räty or Turcotte.

Dont get me wrong though I’d rather trade Miller over Horvat but the time to do that was last year before we resigned him at 8M.

Personally I see this year as a write off even though we’ve played better recently.

we need to stop this mediocre bubble playoff structure and move some pieces to get some younger higher potential quality Pieces.

  10. NYR

    Horvat

    VAN

    Schneider

    Kakko

NYR won’t be able to afford 3 RD costing more then 20M of cap so Schneider will likely needed to be traded at some point.

Kakko is floundering and in need of a change of scenery, would prefer Lafreniere but with Schneider added doubt it happens. Kakko also carries just over 2M of cap allowing the trade to work cap wise

I haven't checked their waiver eligibility status, but why not get Podz and Hogz some game time in Abby?

Not the worst idea if they’re just going to be in the press box half the time. They are waivers exempt still for now

send them down until you trade some vets for futures and then give them a real opportunity to succeed once they’re confidence gets back up

I'm suspecting Vcr is putting pieces in place for a Horvat trade. Could be wrong but they've aquired 2 centres and have Karlsson as a winger who has played centre before. Allvin admitted he hasn't spoke to Horvats agent for weeks

Horvat has 7 goals in 10 games. Hard to trade him right now for what he’s bringing

    miller

    garland

    pearson

    ekman Larson

can all be traded if this team doesn’t start stepping up on a nightly basis

  13. Not a bad Proposal at all.

Id rather see what a Boeser trade would fetch with regards to RD players/ prospects.

With Petey looking more like a 1st line winger, 2nd line centre and the evolution of Podz I could see moving a RD like Boeser. Hate it because I love the guys character but Cap crunch is real
