  1. What would you be ready to give up to get rid of Eriksson? 2nd and Dipietro? Bennings house would burn if he gave up pieces just to get rid of him.
  2. Some highlights from penguin's fans: "Pearson isn't a bad player and Gudbranson is way worse than a bad player. This is horrendous for the Penguins. This is probably the worst deal a Penguins GM has made in the last 10 years." "This has been the most disheartening 3 days in Pens history that I can remember." "This and JJ are the worst deals made in the Sid Era. Absolutely amazing." "I literally can't find any good in this trade." Source: hfboards Im enjoying myself
  3. If I remember correctly Benning actually said that Beagle would take majority of the defensive load from Sutter so he could take more offensive role this season. Eriksson Sutter Petterson as a second line wouldnt be too bad for Elias I think... Sutt and Loui would cover mistakes he WILL make. I think the shutdown line will be something like Roussel Beagle Virtanen.
  4. Question for those who have seen Quinn play a lot: Who do you think is the best player comparison for him in the NHL in terms of playing style? Gostisbehere?
  5. Yeah I sometimes tend to overreact Gonna be great game to finally see both Petterson and Juolevi in mens national game.
  6. Edit: nvm Olli was slotted in.
  7. Bourdon? My guess is #38. Tells something of this season when Gaudettes playing number is the most exciting thing.
  8. The real question is... Which number will he wear?
  9. I was at the game last night. Whole team was bad but gotta say that Juolevi didnt stand out positive way either. Bad giveaways and passes straight to opposite. Its been rough for him lately. Bostons latest 1st round pick Vaakanainen on the other hand dominated the game.. one of the better skaters ive ever seen.
  10. He was interviewed after second period in finnish television and he was asked about his goal and he said with all smiles that its big relief to get monkey off his back. So he knows he has offensive game in him and was disappointed he was unlucky before in this tournament.
  11. He looks like total professional among kids. Finlands steadiest blueliner in this tournament.
  12. No place for him in u20 squad. Anyone know why? Isn't he eligible? 5 goals in last years tournament.
  13. Its today reported in finnish press that our coach is considering picking Juolevi for the olympic team if he plays well. He says its a longshot but the national team lacks good puckmoving defenders since NHL players wont participate.
  14. Just to make sure to everyone: Salo isnt the head coach of TPS he was merely a volunteer assistant coach during the summer and now he is part of the coaching group but his specific job isnt yet confirmed. Saku Koivu is responsible of TPS youth development.
  15. Its couraging to see Viktor Arvidssons succes in Nashville right now because they have lot in common with skill/size. Dahlen even had slightly better junior career but next couple years in SHL/AHL will tell us more. I cant stress enough the fact that Allsvenskan really isnt just some farm league to SHL because SHL is open league and their last placed teams play not to drop to allsvenskan every year and allsvenskans best teams can climb to SHL so there is really healthy competition every year. Its widely argued that Allsvenskan is almost on the same level as Finlands top league from where one Sebastian Aho made the jump this year. So point per game is really hard there to achieve.
  16. Any Colorado fans here? How Will Butcher is not yet signed? Remember this guy couple years back at WJC on team USA. Was real standout and looked like the real deal and has continued to impress in NCAA. Totally forgot this guy until now. Already played 4 seasons in NCAA so I guess he becomes free agent this summer?
  17. Lol in re-draft Ehlers maybe but no way Nylander. He wouldnt helped us to get playoffs anyway these years and when we are competive Jake has honed his skills and plays in NHL powerforward game. And Nylander will still be perimeter player which he is. So at this point it doesnt even matter if he is in minors and Nylander is not.
  18. Nice thinking Im still happy with him at #6 that speed size and shot rarely come in same right handed package. He just takes longer to "get it" what is it to be pro. Just like Burr said.
  19. Well Suter is consistent 40+ pts player in NHL and has one 50 pts season so far. It would be longshot but man if Juolevi would top somewhere in Suter/Mcdonagh range. That would be steal.
  20. Anyone seen Necas actually play? Honestly dont know anything about the kid and it seems he is ranked everywhere from 20. to top 5. Mittelstadt seems good option at least from what ive read since havent seen him play either. Assuming we pick somewhere 4oa-6oa. And JB has a thing for those NCAA kids.
  21. And his draft +1 year when his goals dropped significanly I think he was switched to RW? I think its obvious to see he would be more of a scoring threat on left wing especially since many of his pro goals still comes from cutting inside from left side even if his position on paper is RW. When playing RW he just seems to shoot wrister from bad angle after coming in zone or go round the net and then throw the puck to goalies pads(actually scored once in NHL that way). From LW he could use his speed and size to cut inside to make the play.
  22. Exactly. At forward position even if your team is crap and loses you can still score the occasional point with individual effort (see Tolvanen 6gp 2+4=6) to make your stat line better but as a d-man not so much unless youre Karlsson. Yeah I thought from Bennings interviews that he was really high on Dubois especially after he switched to C and I thought he would be there where we picked. So I had us picking Dubois then if he werent there would be no brainer to take Tkachuck since he was BPA. After them I would have been happy with Logan Brown or Max Jones cause somehow I thought they looked like Bennings players. Juolevi was surprise but like I said thats where our needs were. But thats just me id rather watch fringe playoff team of Max Jones's and Tom Wilsons than stanley cup champions of Kadris and Radulovs.
  23. Been reading this forum for years now and as I am from Finland I decided to share my opinion of Juolevi since I follow our players closely. Ive read here that Finland was supposed to "defend the championship" at u20 and were big flop. Thats really not the case. The team had lost all the core players of gold team and was among the youngest on the tournament and consisted mainly of 17 year olds. Nobody here expected them to do much more than qualify from the group stage and that they didnt even achieve because of horrible coaching and how they built the team and how unexperienced it was. People bash Juolevi of his play in WJC but the team was built in stupid way that there were too many pure offensive d-men and not stay at home guys. So the coach decided to play those od in offensive roles and Juolevi earned more of a shutdown role as he was the only guy to be trusted heavy defensive duties in every situation. And thats why he was the captain not because of his character he was just million years more experienced and better than other guys. Their forwards were thrash. Altough former 1st rounder Borgström and this years prospect Tolvanen are making some noise in NCAA and USHL they werent really game changers. At least not at the time. Now to the point. Every game Juolevi was steadiest d-man of the team and his passing and decision making were just one level above everybody else on the team and thats where the problem was. His passing was top class but their forwards usually just simply didnt have the skill level to catch them on center ice or make the right plays which made the whole team look bad. He didnt seem to have problems coping with other teams top players on the d-zone either. His shot selections made clear he was playing hockey in NA and rest of the team in Europe. He was looking to get rebounds and directions in front of the goal but there never really was anybody so even the Finnish announcers thought it was just a bad shot. And afterall that was just a short tournament where unexperienced and nameless team didnt do much. I think Juolevi has much similarities with Sami Salo. After Salos playing days I havent really seen Finnish d-man who is so poised with the puck on the own end and always seems to make that easy and obvious play which is the hardest thing to do. Not physical but makes up to it with good hockey IQ and positioning. His shot is underrated and I think he has bit more offensive creativity than Salo. That makes him in my opinion potential #2 d-man on a good team. Absolutely not a game changer in offensive zone like Karlsson but really reliable all around d-man. I see prime-Edler(not the current one) with more agility and way better decision making. I was in the Tkachuck train at the draft and thought he was the obvious choise after Dubois wasnt there but I understanded the decision shortly after since Benning thought Juolevi were best d-man available and thats where our needs were. And we already picked grit with high pick in Virtanen.
