I don’t think it ever actually happens this way. The Staal’s never grouped together and I think most players try and play away from home. Once they are older their “home” has changed.

They either get Eklund or Hughes. Hughes, Bean, Boquist would be a good day.

CBJ gets Boquist and Bean plus a bunch of firsts today. I think they ended up pretty well today after needing to trade their top D. -

A top 6 three years away, a Joni Jurmo type pick ( yeah he was a 3rd) and a nobody. Don’t lose any sleep over it I say. We have a #2 D still in his prime for 3 years, a top 6 in his prime and no more Loui.

I think the bigger picture is you need to show improvement to your team and fan base. Miller and Horvat + aren’t waiting 3 years for 9OA to maybe be ready. OEL makes the top 4 more top heavy giving younger guys flexibility on the third pair. This move is for now and into the future.

Only way you don’t like this trade is if you don’t know OEL or Garland or still believe in Loui, Rouss or Beagle.

Agreed. Norris calibre OEL at 7 or Hyman at 5. I think we’re in great shape.

Why not just a straight up swap of Schmidt for Zadorov. Probably similar value.

I have to think if Johnson is our best option at 9OA then why not take the sure thing in Reinhart? Will all depend who’s there at 9. -
Sold! I’d do that in a heartbeat. Actually a good swap for both teams. I’d have to guess Schmidt would give a giant no to Edmonton however.

Might need to stick with the Swede/Finn strategy as the mindset may be slightly different.
