If Montreal had scored on half their great chances off of giveaways this game would be over already. Why do the Canucks insist on turning back into their own end and trying to skate through the forecheckers from behind their own net? It inevitably leads to turnovers and high danger scoring chances. I can’t believe this is what the coaches want but it’s what happens every game.

Anyone else being driven crazy by the Canucks play in their own zone? Successful teams make quick zone exits when they gain possession. The Canucks more often then not skate themselves into trouble, get outnumbered and lose the puck leading to scoring chances against. The entire defence corps do this routinely. Even the forwards often turn back at their own blue line and skate into danger. And don’t get me started on the blind back passes in front of their own net. It may be our team is just too slow and gets forechecked too easily. If it’s the system though coaching changes need to be made. Happy to see them win again but Demko can’t be depended on to stand on his head every game.

More Kudos to Craig Button for his Brayden Point ranking that year. He had him rated as the 17th overall pick while most others had him much lower. He ended up going 79th overall. Maybe Button should be considered to replace Judd Brackett.

Actually Craig Button did. He didn’t have Virtanen as a first round pick in that draft. I’ve had respect for Button’s opinions ever since.

I was really hoping that the Canucks would choose Ehlers in that draft and said so on this board at the time. He was a +65 in his last year of junior which was by far the best in his draft class. I’m sure that Virtanen was picked because he was a local kid with size. Ehlers was rated much higher on almost all prospect lists. Watch Ehlers in tomorrow’s game and try and picture him in our top six.

Would anyone consider a Virtanen and Jack Rathbone trade to Anaheim for Trevor Zegras? Would Anaheim?

The logic behind letting Tanev, Markstrom, and Toffoli walk

Not to nitpick because I agree with much of your post but Boeser was not picked instead of Pasternak as they were in different draft years. The Canucks actually passed over Pasternak twice in 2014, choosing both Virtanen and McCann over him in the first round.
