  1. It's a good thing you didn't go into scouting
  2. ? sorry the joke didnt connect
  3. pearson was trash i liked mysey's grit toff kinda invisible miller was fighting it all game. looked frustrated from the jump. liked our 4th line a lot. finding a way to the slot will make or break us.
  4. Greener said he went with the lineup he thought gave them the best chance to win in the exhibition match, which leads me to believe we wont see virt until we lose in the qualifier. Doubt he's there for game 1 personally. Ferland is ahead of Mac on the depth chart (at least how greener sees it), imo, the tie breaker being ferly's experience. It's not Gaudette vs. Sutter realistically. Not sure it's ever been. Kind of more Sutter vs. MacEwen or Eriksson for that 4th line winger spot. Sutter likely slots in because of PK duty. Motte is in the lineup. Greener's never took him out of that 4th line winger spot. just my opinionz
  5. Miller Petey Toffoli Pearson Bo Boeser Roussel Gaud Virtanen Motte Beagle Sutter I've been critical of Jake, but I think he slots in for game 1. Part of that is because minnesota is not great offensively and we dont need the 3rd line to play amazing defense. If we lose game 1 and he isnt the best player on the ice, I could see him being taken out. Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Fanta Stetch
  6. It's mainly because you've been an annoying lil thing the past week or so around here, insulting many people yourself, and i thought you should get a bit of your own medicine. hope you like the taste, big guy.
  7. This guy is either expert level troll or legitimately dumb. Either way I'm impressed.
  8. I wasn't saying there's anything wrong with it, bud. You're projecting.
  9. you have the biggest crush on jake. it's cute.
  10. you didnt really address anything i said i kinda just reiterated your thesis so idk what to say man. refer to what i said in the post you quoted for my response to this.
  11. 1. What will be the starting lineup For the Canucks vs the wild ? Miller Petey Toff Pears Bo Brock Rous Gaud MacEwen (could still very well be virt. kind of 50/50 on that. but if i had to put money down id say macewen starts there given greens comments about their line) Motte Beags Sutter (you need sutter for PK) edler myers hughes tanev fanta stetch juolevi I think juolevi has made enough of an impression to be next man up. 2. how many games will be needed to decide series? Canucks in 4 3. How many goals will the Canucks score in the series? 11 4. Leading scorer on defence for the Canucks? Hughes duh 5. Leading scorer on offence for Canucks? Petey, but I'm tempted to say Brock Boeser as a bit of a dark horse answer 6. what will be our goalies save %? .921 7. how many challenges will the Canucks make in the series? How many will be successful? 3 challenges, 2 successful 8. who will score the first goal in the series for the Canucks? antoine roussel 9. will Juolevi play in this series? i think fanta starts. if we lose the first couple games maybe greener gives him a shot to be an improvement. I think he's first up if there's an injury. 10. Top hitter on the Canucks? ferdaddy... or miller 11. pp %? 33%... Wild PK is among the worst in the league 12. pk %? 82%
  12. Seems to be not that bad. Was cut by Myers' stick. If it was a serious cut we'd probably be hearing a lot more about it.
  13. Their goals per game is similar this year, boeser having the slight edge at 0.28 per game this year and jake at 0.26, but boeser's points per game is significantly better at 0.79, compare top jake's 0.52. You could point to brock having better linemates but i'd argue that's offset but the higher quality of competition brock plays agianst. I think most people would agree that brock brings far more playmaking ability than jake. i think even lately brock brings a lot more to the table than jake does. and as other have pointed out, brock had been playing with a lingering issue for a while it seemed. Not to mention he's been dealing with his father's health. There's much more room for forgiveness in boeser's under performance than there is jake's.
  14. Good thing he's scored a hell of a lot more in his career thus far
  15. Unfortunately seems to be legit... just found this:
  16. Takeaways are part of defense but there is a lot more to defense than takeaways. Jake's speed and size help a ton with takeaways and it is one of his strengths. With that said, he is prone to boneheaded plays and has a knack for flybys and losing his check at the point. Side note, but I've been watching you post in a few different spots over the last few days and I honestly can't tell if you're a troll. If you're not, then you're quite the insufferable prick and also kinda dumb. Either way I can't wait until you get bored and leave. I'll probably get a strike for that but it's worth it. #noragrets
  17. Ive been pro-virtanen for a long time. I'm starting to change my mind. Don't get me wrong, he's going to play in this league for many years yet to come, and he has 30 goal potential imo, but I don't think he has the ability to focus 100% on his craft while living in his hometown. Him constantly showing up to camp out of shape and a step behind and doing boneheaded things like go out to celebs without a mask are indicative of him being around his friends and living like they do, problem being, he's an NHL hockey player and can't afford that luxury. Stetchers made it work, but he's clearly built different. He made it to the league 100% off hard work and grind. On the other hand, Virt made basically off the genetic gift of being both quick and powerful and effort has always been a knock against him throughout his career. I don't think a guy like Jake Virtanen reaches his full potential in his hometown.
  18. I used the term COVID tourny only because I had to find a way to describe the format including the extra series before it's technically the playoffs. Didn't mean to imply that whoever wins this year wins any less than any other team any other year.
  19. The thing is, JB's constructed a team of players that separately, do actually have a lot of experience. We have 5 players who have played in the Stanley Cup Finals in Edler, Tanev, Toffoli, Pearson, and Beagle. The number of "key" players (which I'll define as Top 9 Fwd/Top 4 D) that have Stanley Cup Finals experience is actually equal to the number of players who have zero playoff experience (5 of each, no playoff experience = Boeser, Petey, Virtanen, Hughes). EDIT: nvm forgot about gaudette lmao Another variable is Marky, who also has no playoff experience, but I would put my money on him doing well. He's seemed to get better when the pressure is on this season. I don't think success is by any means guaranteed, but I think if there was a prototype of a team that was built to surprise, it would look a lot like this one.
  20. The Canucks are a dark horse to do damage in the playoffs this year, and dare I say, possibly even win the cup. Hear me out... Going into the series with Minnesota, the Canucks will have a completely healthy lineup. This combined with the Toffoli acquisition at the deadline, makes the Canucks Forward group one of, if not THE deepest in the league. Some experts have already said the the addition of Toffoli makes our Top 6 possibly the best in the league, and if Ferland can return after an extended break and play anything close to his potential, an argument could be made for our bottom 6 to be one of the best in the league as well. Miller Pete Toffoli/Boeser - regardless of who's RW, this is one the top lines in the league. Personally I'd love to see the lotto line back together. Pearson Bo Toffoli/Boeser - all 4 of these players were on pace for 25+ goals this year. This isn't a 2nd line. It's 1B. Ferland - Gaudette - Virtanen - This line is a wildcard, but it's 3 players who play hard and fast who could thrive together in playoff hockey. If Ferly fails, slot in Leivo and you still have a solid checking line. Leivo/Motte/Roussel/Beagle/Sutter/Loui/Macewen... - lots of options here. We'll certainly be okay if injury strikes our bottom 6. Roll with whoever looks good coming out of camp. Lots of these players could play 3rd line on some teams. Our defense is where we're a bit thin, but what we have is formidable. In an ideal world we'd have a bit more high end talent in the top 4 and maybe an upgrade over Fanta/Benn, but we do have a solid group of 6 that can get the job done on most nights. They will struggle to shut down top talent, but with a strong forward group and a healthy Markstom, it's possible the deficiency could be offset. Hughes - Tanev - Hughes was slowing down a bit around when the season ended. He looked notably tired, having played the most hockey he had in 1 season. The time off will rejuvenate him. Probably Tanev too, whom we must assume is playing injured at any given time. Edler - Myers - This pair was split up, but played well together in the first half of the season. If they can return to their early season form, our defensive deficiency is a lot less of a problem Fanta/Benn - Stetcher - Probably go Fanta over Benn. Middle of the pack bottom paring compared to the rest of the league imo. Things are a bit thin if injury strikes, but it's possible someone like Rafferty could come in and be reminiscent of a young Chris Tanev circa 2011 playoffs. Markstrom Demko Goaltending is obviously the least of our worries with these 2. Markstrom can steal us games and can be a workhorse if needed. Demko is probably a top 30 goalie in the league at this point who can fill in if necessary. This is a team that is lowkey deep and talented. They are young and inexperienced and that makes them a bit of a wildcard, but they're also a firey group that could catch a spark and run ablaze. They could surprise. What's your opinion? See poll above.
