  1. It’s funny, the very first name that came to my mind when I heard this rumour was Willander. I think this guy would be the perfect target with the 19th pick. There’s going to be so many good players to be had in the second round. Walking away with Willander and possibly Bonk or Minnetian for example could really help us shore up our lack of RHD depth. PS I’m also a very big fan of Reinbacher and Dvorsky. I really like ASP too. I’d be very happy if we landed any of them with the 11th pick.
  2. You’re probably right unfortunately. Nonetheless if we’re going RHD then ASP would be a solid consolation prize. He looked so good at the U18’s and that’s not just because Button couldn’t stop gushing about him lol.
  3. Big game by Reinbacher yesterday. I’m still very high on this guy.
  4. Absolutely. I don’t see anyway he gets past the caps. I can’t believe they were only five point out of a playoff spot and then sold key players to tank this year. It’s looking like a pretty smart move right about now, and will look genius if they manage to land Michkov. True story; when they sold at the deadline I told my bud that I thought they were tanking for Michkov. I really hope that doesn’t work out for them lol
  5. I don’t know, from watching him closely in a handful of games at the U18 tourney, his ceiling looks sky high to me. The guy was absolutely lights out; great compete level in both O zone and D zone, a solid shot, slick hands, and his IQ seemed good to me too.
  6. I’m excited to see Reinbacher at the WC. I hope he plays well, but the problem is that if he plays too well then he won’t be there at 11 lol
  7. I would go: Dvorsky Sandin Pellikka Sale Danielsson Stennberg
  8. This mock draft seems a little out to lunch IMO. They have Moore at 6 (he might still crack the top ten, but I definitely don’t see him being selected as early as sixth). And they have us selecting Cristall when Dvorsky and Reinbacher are still on the board. I feel like whoever put together this mock draft forgot to watch the U18 tournament lol https://dknation.draftkings.com/platform/amp/2023/5/8/23715237/nhl-mock-draft-2023-post-lottery-drawing-ducks-blackhawks-canadiens-connor-bedard
  9. The audit at the end of this new mock draft makes for a fascinating read: https://theathletic.com/4500204/2023/05/08/nhl-mock-draft-2023-connor-bedard-blackhawks/?amp=1 By the sounds of it Benson might just be there when we pick. Also, at least one scout said “There’s little chance (Michkov) goes in the top 10 picks” There’s no world where I could possibly see him not being selected by the capitals, but if he did miraculously fall to us that could be the biggest draft day steal since Bure.
  10. My gut is telling me that we’re drafting either ASP or Moore. This is such a stacked draft though that I’d personally be more than happy with about 15 of the top players in the rankings. The only guys I’m wary of are Cristall and Perreault. Even though Hoznek and Willander are further down in the rankings on most boards, I would be happy with either of them too.
  11. Great post. I agree with basically all of it. In regards to the your questions at the end, usually I would say no, neither team to should make that trade, as IMO it is all about quality over quantity and the team that lands the best player in any given trade is the team that wins the trade. However, if I’m Columbus I do think I wouldn’t make that trade. As good as Carlsson looks, walking away with Leonard and ASP for example would be just too sweet to pass on (Reinbacher and Danielsson, or Dvorsky and Sale, etc etc). Man the coyotes can really expedite their rebuild this draft!
  12. I’m trying so hard to channel my inner child who believed Peter Pan when he said that thinking happy thoughts could make me fly lol. Now I’m thinking happy/positive thoughts in hopes that the balls will land in our favour and we’ll keep this hometown kid with his home team! Please hockey gods, please!
  13. Oh wow, I like that comparison. I’m big Boldy fan and with that comparison I’ve now officially bought a ticket to get a seat on the Sale bandwagon lol. I’ve only ever seen him play twice, both times at the U18’s but I really liked what I saw.
  14. I literally cried tears of joy when Hughes miraculously fell to us. Lol. I needed to tell someone about the grand larceny we had just pulled off and so I called my wife at work but I was so excited that I couldn’t even articulate complete sentences lol. I have a feeling that Benson is the one player that could miraculously drop to us this year. If he does that’ll be another highway robbery for us. PS During the 2019 draft when it was our turn to pick I thought we were going to pull off another massive heist and nab Matthew Boldy. I was on the edge of my seat, getting ready to go nuts, but they regrettably passed on what I strongly believed would’ve been an amazing winger for Pettersson. I really like Podkolzin, but I fear that he will never be quite the impact player that Boldy has already become.
  15. Cristall is a sleeper alright… he slept right through the U18 tournament lol!
  16. This article seems spot on. I feel the same way, that Willander took a big step forward, and Cristall took a big step back.
  17. For me I would be ecstatic if we landed any one of Leonard, Dvorsky, Reinbacher, ASP, or Sale (in that order for me). The great thing is that there’s a decent likelihood that one or two of them will still be on the board when we make our pick. PS I don’t see us picking him with the 11th pick, but I absolutely loved Willander’s game. He’s solid and skilled. If there’s anyway we can package our two third round picks to get him I would do that in a heartbeat.
  18. Below is my list of players that I would personally like to see the Canucks draft: 1)Bedard 2)Fantilli 3)Smith 4)Michkov 5)Carlsson 6)Leonard 7)Reinbacher 8)Dvorsky 9)Benson 10)Moore 11)Danielson 12)ASP 13)Wallinder 14)Sale 15)Barlow 16)Perrault 17)Hoznek 18)Stenberg 19)Simashev 20)Yager 21)Strbak 22)Minnetian 23)Bonk 24)Gulyayev 25)Wood
  19. This works for me! Dvorsky is incredibly entertaining to watch and I’d love it if we drafted him. However if he can finish up with a strong game against the Americans tomorrow then I’d be shocked if he didn’t go in the top ten. I’m really hoping we can land either Reinbacher, Dvorsky or Leonard. All three fill Canucks needs; a big talented RHD, a skilled two way C, and an explosive Power Forward. Having said that, Danielson or Moore would be a solid consolation prize.
  20. Yeah Wood’s stock is soaring while Cristall’s must be plummeting. I love it!
  21. It would be interesting if Detroit takes either Smith or Leonard with their earlier first rounder and then Perrreault with their later first rounder. Those three players have amazing chemistry and I could see it being tempting to keep two of the three of them together. They likely won’t, but it would be neat.
  22. That is definitely very telling. We do not need a player like that.
  23. If both ASP and Reinbacher go in the top ten, that will likely mean that a solid forward will fall to us. Having said that, I would love it if we picked either of those defensemen.
  24. I came on here solely to see if there was an update on Berglund. Thank you for that!
