Let’s weaponize the cap and get more pricks or prospects!

Raty looked dangerous against us when we last played the islanders on January 3rd. Also he’s a Fin! We’re always too much Swedish and not enough Finnish lol. I even thought at the time of watching that game that he would be a nice piece in a trade for Bo. Also, I’m stoked we got another first rounder in this epic draft year. I just wish we also got a young D man back too. All in all I’m pleased. I was totally expecting Bo to get hurt before the trade deadline, so this is much better than that lol!

How nice would it be to have a few first or second round draft picks in this draft. When I was watching the Top Prospect game I believe it was Craig Button that said this looks like the best draft class in 20 years! If our management is patient and truly wants to do what’s best for this franchise, they should absolutely try and load up on picks this year.

And if he could have a good showing at the all star game that couldn’t hurt either. PS listening to Allvin in the intermission really makes me think Petey might be the next captain. His energy amped up while talking about him and he emphasized Petey having a leadership roll moving forward.

He was and he played well. He scored a beauty late in the game. I didn’t watch the game as thoroughly as I would’ve liked to as I was assembling birthday toys for my little ones during most of the game lol, but I noticed Luca Pinelli was a high energy guy who had a lot of looks and I believe he scored as well. He could be a good 2nd or 3rd round pickup. And as mentioned before, Barlow looked solid. He actually played on a line with Yager, and even though Yager did clearly look like the high end prospect he is, I personally liked more of what I saw from Barlow. Between Barlow, Benson, and Smith (as well as few others who I just haven’t seen enough of yet) it looks like there will be some real gems for us to pick from outside of the big four this year if we don’t get lucky with the lottery.

Yup! Our Uber patient (aka indecisive) giant management group has to make up their minds and make a move while he’s still healthy and playing well. Last thing we need is a prolonged dry stretch, or worse yet an injury leading up to the trade deadline. If they’re going to do it, make like Nike and Just Do It!

Is anyone watching this CHL prospects game? A lot of promising looking players. Bedard is of course working his Bedarian magic lol, but I’m really liking the looking of this Colby Barlow kid’s game too. A big strong guy with good hands.

Good points. Thank you for the clarity. When I first watched that I thought I heard that they wanted heard three players and a top prospect. Who knows, maybe JR and co can pull off some roster shakeup magic like the Canucks did when they traded Butcher and Quinn for Courtnall, Dirk, Momesso, and Ronning!

That’s an odd ask. What contending team wants to trade away three roster players? Also, we need to focus on quality over quantity.

Honestly I would happily do a straight up swap, Bo for Wright. Wright has a very high ceiling and his whole career ahead of him. Before last year’s trade deadline I preached to all of my co-workers and friends that I would happily trade Miller for Boldy in a one for one deal (if the Wild were crazy enough to do that) and I got flamed by everyone but I stood my ground lol. Of course I’d love it if we received a hefty package for Bo, but if we can land a triple A, can’t miss prospect for him (which I believe Wright is) then I think we should consider a one for one trade.

I’ve said it a hundred times since new management took over, there as so many cooks in the kitchen with our management that it seems like we’re paralyzed by either over analysis or indecision, or maybe something else. I’m all for being careful, patient and calculated, but this giant team of management seems too so slow to act on anything.

Bruce is such a classy guy. The disrespect our management has shown him and the team is unbelievable. JR could’ve easily avoided all of this by answering his questions more mindfully in his interview earlier this week. Instead he created so much of this “noise” and stoked the flames. For such a seasoned vet I couldn’t believe how unprofessionally JR answered so many of those questions.

Absolutely. This really does remind me a lot of that too. Hopefully this trade will also help setup our future though the way that the Linden trade did.

That would require careful asset management, something our franchise has historically known very little about. Lol Riding a nine game point streak and an all star selection, his value is likely as high as it’ll get right now. The time to act is now. Target your trade partner, then let them talk extension with Horvat’s camp so that you can hopefully maximize the trade.

Sell high… sell now! It would be classic Canuck curse for him to either get injured right before the trade deadline or to go pointless in ten games leading up to the deadline, or to pull a Benning and have our GM just “run out of time” to get a deal done lol

I felt the same way. I was pleasantly surprised to hear them be in honest about wanting the 1st overall. If they do plan on making a run for that pick though they better not go and hire Tocchet this season because that will undoubtedly give the team an unnecessary boost and lower our odds.

I commend your patience, but in my opinion it’s what he does (or does not do) this trade deadline that will determine a lot about their ability to steer this ship.

I think there’s just too many chefs in the kitchen with our management group and they just can’t seem to be able to make any decisions. Claiming this kid was a no brainer imo. Very little risk with potentially very high reward.

Yeah I’m afraid of that lol. It would be crazy to trade him. Please hockey gods, just give us this one lol!
