  1. Ummm....I'm not sure Babych actually ever had a fight, despite how menacing his moustache may have looked.  Other than that, although Rypien couldn't handle the super heavyweights the way Brashear could, I just had to vote for him based on his superior fight technique and, as has been said many, many times, his pound-for-pound dominance!

Guiseppe is probably a favorite to be a call up for injuries to any forwards that we might have.

If we just keep 13 forwards, I think you're right.  If we keep 14, I believe he stays.  Of course, training camp/preseason will be what really makes this known.

Very apt references to Snepsts and Strudwick (and add Murzyn to that group). That lack of lateral mobility for Juolevi is combined with his difficulty with pivots to the left. That weakness on his pivot when trying to prevent being walked around the outside leads to Juolevi not pressuring anywhere near as much as Rathbone at the blue line.

But Juolevi does bring positives: he makes strong outlet passes, he can defend the pk, he is very good in the offensive zone, and is faster than he appears in a straight line, and is agile going forward. Now, it could also be that Juolevi has been improving the fitness of his knee and hip, and that may help to overcome his deficiencies - this may be the first summer he has spent in a long time not just rehabbing from one injury or another. When he was fit playing at the world juniors, he looked damned good, and pretty damned good in the Finnish league after that. If we can afford to keep both Rathbone and Juolevi, we may be able to bring them both along. If either can reach middle pairing status on the left, will Ekman-Larsson be tradeable?

That settles it......... I think we should just all yell "Harrrrr-old" every time Juolevi steps on the ice!

He wouldn't need it at all, but OEL is a classy guy and would ask for it anyways.

A bit like asking a father for permission to marry his daughter, even though it isn't strictly required by law or anything.

Yes, and remember Thomas Gradin wore that number for many years as well.  Another respected Swede, still with the organization.  I'm sure OEL asked permission from both of them before he even considered taking #23!;)

Love the Aristophanes quote, seems the argument against collectivism goes back much further than I knew. Interesting how each version requires the enslavement o& the able.

When you said Aristophanes, did you mean to say 48MPH SlapShot (since that's who you appeared to be quoting)?  If so, no worries, I mix those two up all the time myself!!

34 games makes up all the home games. I probably just didn't realize how expensive hockey tickets are, since I've never purchased full price tickets to anything more than WHL games.

I was hoping maybe a small 10-game pack or something would be viable, but I may just have to go to a few games instead. For some reason I was hoping the prices would be comparable to CHL games.

I was hoping for the same type of ticket package as you.  My guess is that they will probably come out with options for half-season and smaller ticket packages after they get as many people to buy full season packages as they can.

  7. Seeing that Gadjovich is waivers eligible this year and Lockwood isn't makes it look pretty certain that Lockwood will start the season in Abbotsford, unless he really outplays Gads in preseason (or we have a long-term forward injury).
