  1. 20 goals? Miller? Really? Okay Eriksson he had 30 a few times. Just one you may be familiar with. Do you even know when he got 20 goals? And when did he get 50 points? How about you post that. Benning says he is a top six forward on this team, without competing for the position, a good fit for the team, a good clause contract. They HAD to move a 3rd round pick? No reason why but had to. Didn't shop the pick. He feels prices will drop but paid high now. Man you have to listen to this stuff, prices too high but will come down but he traded when he thought the prices too high. That is not making it up it is his words.
  2. 50 points as a 4th liner on the highest scoring team in the league Why not just sign Ferland, Lee or Dzingel? For free? All are 27 or so. Why trade now? In 5 days teams will be scrambling for cap space.
  3. Miller is an okay player and will be helpful but the cost is nuts. Tampa is in cap crush, uber trouble and they trade away their 4th liner for two picks. The cost could be a top ten pick, maybe even the best player since McDavid and Mathews. What no one is asking is Why Now? This wasn't a trade that couldn't have been made next week when the pressure was on to create cap space? Is this management group so naive that they don't see what pressure would do? Is Miller the best they could do for a 1rst and third round pick from this team? Why not offer this deal to TO and get Kapenen? Or any number of other team with RFA's they need to sign and get a younger higher scoring forward becasue Miller has peaked his ceiling has been reached. IMO this deal was made for "the now", sold off the future for this season. Forget cap certainty with knowing the clause keeps hm here for 4 years this is a massive and huge gamble, all in. Why make this trade now? And yes he should be seeing a crisis counselor for the job done on him
  4. Benning is that you? Why make THIS trade now? It could have been made tomorrow or next week or whenever. This is a panic trade to try to quell the masses, that is all. You will hear "the fans wanted it and now they got it". The player; Miller - 27yrs old next year. M=NTC for four years Averages 13.7 goals per season over his NHL career, .55 points per game Averaged 14:40 min/game last year A decent 3rd/4th line player with the Rangers and Tampa The player helps but how much of an upgrade is he to Roussel, Sutter, Beagle, Granlund, Leivo? Two draft picks - The first could end up being a lottery pick if the team now fails to beat out SanJose, Calgary, Vegas, Dallas, Colorado, St Louis, Winnipeg or Chicago and Nashville. I hope the Boeser deal is close because if that deal goes into the Mathews realm then this team will be cap strung in two more years. The defence hasn't changed and at the age of the primary pieces, Edler and Tanev, not likely to be much better. Clearly Benning goal is merely making the playoffs and saving his job. Free agency is next and he has a great track record there, 7 - 8 mil a season for Gardiner or 8+ for Myers? Or worse all with clauses? Three years ago the same posters were posting "have faith", "trust in Benning", "you don't know anything" I hope the last 4 years have shown you just which posters are working for the Canucks because after 4 seasons of not even getting close to a .500 wining percentage Benning has just sold a lot of the future for his swan song season to try to save his job. Be afraid it can get worse, think about 3 or 4 years from now with the assets being moved around now and picks being traded away, Gillis now has a better percentage of picks making it to the NHL than Benning.
  5. As far as i know that is wrong, But is he worth a top ten pick? Tampa will make hay with the cap space. Lucic could protect the players without trading away a top ten pick. Hell there should be 200 guys like Miller to "protect" players available for a lot less than a 1rst round pick. This was a insane panic move if this is it. Miller It is a poison pill. He knows he is gone, especially now, he is just trying to embarrass the team that cut him because he was too small. And embarass the owner's. He has forced them to take some kind of action, maybe he did this because of the Peter Chiarellii thing has more legs than rumored and he knows he is done.

  7. Belly flop Benning is drowning and grasping at anything, selling the future for a part time 4th line player. He saved Tampa and allows them to sign/trade for an even better player and get a top ten pick. This is a poison pill trade.
  8. Are you kidding? This is fantastic. Miller will be 27 next season he has a 5.25 mil cap hit with a M-NTC clause for another 4 years that was a part time 4th line player with Tampa. That is worth a 1rst round pick isn't it? This isn't trading away the future this is a carefully calculated move to make the future, in 4 years stronger by trading away more picks, not just more but 1rst rounders for older 4th liners. Is that Aquilini's agent going down to the table? Be a competitive battle with Granlund for 4th line minutes
  9. This is a belly flop. Cap hit, clause contract and two picks for a 4th liner that gets limited ice time.
  10. Well manager are getting wet now, a couple of really big splashes. Who would have thought that Carolina would buy or could afford to buy a 1rst overall although it is a 2020 first round pick and they will be worth two firsts of this round, next year is DEEEEEP, there is the consensus #1 with 2/3 others close but the next 30 may be close to 3 to 10 this year. Subban, Nashville gets cap relief multiple picks AND prospects, definitely worthy of a wet T=shirt award.
  11. Just trolls. Lot's of deals today Marleau and a first? Brilliant for TO, now that is a GREAT trade for TO, freeing up space for them to re-sign Kapenen AND Marner. They do get the players. Just a jab in return
  12. By every estimation yesterday was a dud for trades. Boring. I really like the Canucks pick, Podkolzin was ranked as high as 3rd in this draft class. That he was not expected to be here for two years is oddly comforting as it indicates there will not be a selling of the future for wuick gain. Saturday has started the way many expected day one to go, lots of deals and big ones.
  13. More stuff that should concern fans other than the guys working at the Canuck office.
  14. Colorado has two 1rst round picks and are in a win now mode. Tanev's name is being thrown around in a Colorado deal so what else? Boeser, Horvat Virtanen, Gaudette what would it take to get both picks without giving up the Canuck pick?
  15. If anyone remembers the old 1985 Bears, that great team was coached by Mike Ditka and had Buddy Ryan as their defense coach. Combined they were awesome but when they separated both were never the same again. So Benning and Chiarelli combined might get the connection again.
  16. Moving Marleau and/or Zaitsev in cost-cutting deals could be easier said than done. It could involve including draft picks, prospects, or a young roster player in the deals. It also appears Dubas is trying to bolster his blueline with Kapanen and Brown as potential bargaining chips. Their names popped up frequently in recent Leafs trade chatter
  17. Bob McKenzie reports it will be complicated for the Leafs to move aging winger Patrick Marleau. If he wants to return to the San Jose Sharks, it would take a third team acquiring Marleau. They would have to buy out the remaining year ($6.25 million annual average value) of his contract, and sign him to an affordable deal the Sharks could agree to take on Moving Marleau and/or Zaitsev in cost-cutting deals could be easier said than done. It could involve including draft picks, prospects, or a young roster player in the deals. It also appears Dubas is trying to bolster his blueline with Kapanen and Brown as potential bargaining chips. Their names popped up frequently in recent Leafs trade chatter It is out there, TO also is looking to deal Kadri or whoever to sign Marner. The Lucic thing is close with some team and don't the Canucks, who are supposed in the mix, need more young players and picks? Aren't they supposed to maybe want to move Eriksson after Eriksson's comments? Or do they keep the cancer in the dressing room?
  18. I didn't offer, the reports were those were asking prices. The Horvat thing was by name, ditto the Boeser offer and both 1rst round picks. Tyson Barrie is the hot item right now. The Canucks can absorb the cap hit for one year hence the return of Kapenen and a wink, wink deal with SJ That is the prearranged deal, he agrees to go to Vancouver and then they buy him out. At any rate he is on the west coast This is the proposal from the Marleau/Toronto camp Bingo, but because he has to be bought out first there has to be a side deal between Van and SJ because teams are not allowed to trade cash, Structured like two deals makes it work but both need to contribute to the Nucks for taking on the cap hit and buyout. Essentially the Canucks are buying players, picks or both.
  19. This is what has been speculated as needed to make the deals go The TO stuff because they need to get Marleau's salary off the books for the Marner deal, trade and buyout, the buyout is paid for with the player and possibly even more (backroom deal with SJ) The JP stuff came up last night as Holland might just take a 2nd or even 3rd because of JP's stance and recent surgeries, for the Nucks it is not even as bad as trading a 2nd for Etem or Vey. Lucic and Edmonton 2nd/3rd for Eriksson? Buying a pick for less than 3 mil or a player? Lucic is no worse than Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle, .... and he can be bought out in 2021 Horvat for NYR #1? Horvat is connected to no less than 3 teams includeing trading him for Tyson Barrie, which i find stupid idea but then both the 2019 and 2020 first round picks have been mentioned as possible trade chips older players. All this stuff is out there. Why not come down here and sit and have a coffee where various GM's are? Maybe you should have gone to the Commodore to chat with some of the media guys? Not everything is put on the mainstream, but this stuff has been in the last 48 hours
  20. Who are these posters that troll and get away with it? Is this one the same guy posting twice? naslund.is.king and xereau Made up here? Are you living in a cave, this stuff is all over the media. The only thing made up is your post saying it is made up. Not only Kapenen but Johnsson as well.
  21. Incredible, the amount of posters that bury their head in the sand. These are floating like stuff in sewers out there, not made up. Admit it if some of these happened it would be altering. Horvat's name has been out there for more than a week, Boeser's too. You did about the Minny offer didn't you? Last night at the Commodore there were many little things commented and discussed and compared.
  22. The afraid again Trading the Canuck first this year and next years is on the block as well. What else could that be called but desperation and selling the future. Tyson Barrie for next years #1? That could be 5'10" Barrie for Alexis Lafrenière? Or any of the following 6 players in that draft? For what? Another small dman? Isn't 4 undersized dmen enough?
  23. Just a series of rumors that if happened would amount to a total revamping, From TO - Marleau, Kapanen and a 4th for a 5th round pick or minor league player - buyout Marleau - Swap of minor league players or pick SJ 3rd for Van 4th with SJ. From Edmonton - Jesse Puljujarvi for a 2nd round pick From Edmonton - Lucic and 2nd for Eriksson with 1/2 retention From NYR - Horvat and later pick for #2 overall From Buffalo - Ristolainen for Tanev and Juolevi From Free Agency - Myers at 6 years 7.5 mil Offer sheet Brandon Carlo 3.0 mil for 4 years Wrong player in Tampa offer sheet - Point.
  24. Juolevi, Woo, Who? Just joking around here. Didn't Benning just say that Juolevi has yet to start skating?
