  1. So it looks like nobody can score on Morocco. Hard to believe, but Morocco hasn’t conceded a goal since June 13th in the Africa Cup of Nations except to one team: Canada. Croatia has also been unbeaten coincidentally since June 3rd. Canada really was in the unexpected Group of Death this year. We had no shot of advancing. I’m even more proud now of their performance in our return to a World Cup and against these 2 teams that no one in the world can seem to beat.
  2. You tricked me. I saw the thread posted and was super excited to watch the game in a couple hours only to realize it’s on tomorrow, not tonight and that you just put up the topic early
  3. And yet the amount of time you spend here defending, downplaying or excusing everything Musk says or does while criticizing anyone critical of one of the world’s richest people with a big platform isn’t wasting time or making a mountain out of a molehill? Someone criticized someone else, big deal, shouldn’t you take your own advice then? Just ignore it? After all it doesn’t impact you right? I think you need to understand what the word implication means. It’s what most of these rich types of people do. They never outright say something like “Fauci’s daughter while working at Twitter influenced the company into suppressing or labelling anti-vaxx tweets as disinformation”. Why? Because then they’d receive bigger backlash. And making a false statement is something they can get sued over. They aren’t that stupid and they need a buffer in case they ever go to court. They use modals and codewords to conceal what they’re actually trying to say to protect themselves. They skirt the line so they can have public plausible deniability and get people such as yourself to defend them or criticize those who are critical of them. However, supporters know exactly what they’re saying even if they’re not saying it. So do critics. The only people who don’t, need someone to blankly state something controversial (this almost never happens) before criticizing someone. A mob boss doesn’t say “go kill so and so at this time with this weapon at this place”, they say something like “there’s some business with so and so I’d like you to take care of”. For example on the post he made about Paul Pelosi. He says “there is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story then meets the eye”. While replying to a tweet, he’s linking to a website full of random Twitter accounts. There’s no actual proof. He uses the words tiny, possibility and might to deflect any backlash from what he’s posted. Take those words out. “There is more to this story then meets the eye”. That’s what his true intention is to say. Choosing not to comment is a choice too, but yet even if this scenario in his mind is such a tiny minute chance of being true why is he still sharing a website with no actual proof and commenting publicly about it? It’s clear to most exactly what he’s doing. He could have taken your advice and just ignored it, but he chose to comment. That means he has a reason to do so. What possible reason would he have other then to spread this “theory” to a wider audience in which there’s no concrete proof of? This is how misinformation and disinformation spreads like wildfire.
  4. Hughes 1.1 PPG full season pace 90 points OEL .5 PPG full season pace 41 points Schenn .3 PPG full season pace 25 points Bear .3 PPG full season pace 25 points Myers .25 PPG full season pace 21 points Stillman .2 PPG full season pace 16 points Canucks blueline contribution full season pace 218 points. Can’t even remember the last season our D were contributing like this.
  5. Myers and Stillman. Where the hell have these two guys been this whole season? Last 2 games have been their best by far. If those 2 become reliable our backend doesn’t look too bad anymore.
  6. Don’t look now, but OEL has got 6 points in his last 8 games and 13 points in 27 games this year. Now scoring at nearly a 40 point rate over a season. Haven’t had that since Edler and before that Garrison in 2013. He’s making big mistakes still, but quietly is revving up his offence ability with the stabilization of Bear as a partner.
  7. Finally hit .500 on the season. Took them a while with all the new faces, but Canucks are rolling now. Playoffs?
  8. Found a way to win when we were outplayed. 13 goals in the last 2 games. Canucks have now scored 4 or more goals in 8 of their last 10 games. Goals per games played average skyrocketing. When was the last time we’ve consistently as a team scored like this? The Sedin era? Wow.
  9. Definitely feeling way better about Canada’s performance in the World Cup. Was already happy with it, but Croatia and Morocco are proving to be tough opponents to beat.
  10. Not quite. It’s the 3rd time in Canucks history they came back from 4 goals down. Nearly 50 years ago was the last one. No idea though of the stats/history of how many NHL games total this specific sequence of events happened, but I’m betting it’s only a handful of times ever.
  11. It also wasn’t just a 4-0 comeback win. It was a 4-0 comeback, 5-4 lead, 6-5 comeback to tie, ot win. I’d bet a lot of money there hasn’t been many games ever in NHL history where a team goes down 4 or more, scores 5+ to take the lead, goes down again, comes back to tie and then wins in OT. To top everything off, that all happened in under 24 minutes of ice time. Doesn’t get much crazier then that.
  12. I’m 1000% on board with that, but I’m extremely doubtful Myers gets scratched. There’s not enough depth on the backend to do so unlike our plethora of forwards. It would be nice to reward Wolanin for his play in Abby and give the giraffe some rest though. Stillman shouldn’t be playing at all. He’s never where he’s supposed to be in the dzone and it drives me crazy that the bare basics of defense seem inconceivable to him.
  13. Just going to say this now: Höglander is on the verge of breaking out and will do so in points and/or goals in a big way very soon. There’s a reason Bo has a ridiculous 62% Corsi rating when they’re on the same line.
  14. Kuzmenko gets healthy scratched against Boston on Nov. 13th. Had 11 points in 15 games or .733 PPG prior. Since then has 12 points in 10 games or 1.2 PPG. Effort and game overall in both ends of the ice vastly improved. Boeser was to be healthy scratched against Arizona on Dec. 3rd. Had 14 points in 18 games or .778 PPG prior. Since then has 2 points in 2 games or 1.0 PPG. Effort and game overall in both ends of the ice vastly improved. Maybe Bruce was right to do it and healthy scratches work? Small sample size of course, but Brock looks revitalized and rejuvenated, like his old self. It’s not just points production either, his defensive effort is miles better. Haven’t seen him like this in a long time. He played the best game of this season by far against Montreal. Hope he keeps it up, I’m rooting hard for him.
  15. I know coaches hate changing lineups after a win and Stillman got 2 points, but I still want to see Burroughs back in next game.
  16. Jack Studnicka is underrated. He has that rare game breaker ability, which he’s shown in his 2 games back since being injured. People here wrote him off too early.
  17. If we trade Hughes I’m getting the pitchforks and torches. He probably will end up as the best Canucks D-man ever by the end of his career. There’s no way we should trade someone we’ve waited the entire history of the franchise for. Besides that there is no value other clubs are willing to pay worth what he brings to the team.
  18. Sometimes change doesn’t mean better. We honestly should know that as a fanbase by now given the previous history of the team. Benning had many flaws, but he never ever threw anyone under the bus, especially to the media. In fact, he was loyal to a fault, which eventually cost him his job. Bruce doesn’t deserve any of this shit. I’m giving JR, Allvin and crew until the start of next season before I write them off, but to say the quality of their tenure aside from the Bear trade so far has been disappointing would be an understatement. I had such high hopes too at the start with a multi-cup winner leading us, but I’m starting to wonder if executives sometimes are the same as players: just because they were good before doesn’t automatically mean they’re going to be good with different people on their new team. The league changes so rapidly, sometimes within the same season. What worked 2 years ago doesn’t now because teams are constantly experimenting and adjusting to try to become better. Rutherford after 2016 and 2017 had his team win only 1 playoff round in 2018 and won 0 in the following 3 seasons. Maybe his methods no longer worked anymore.
  19. It seems Brock got the message Bruce was trying to send. Best game he’s played in a long time. I’m very happy for him. Hopefully he starts playing this way consistently, I’d love to see him regain his form as a 30 goal scorer. I feel terrible for Boeser personally given the evils of cancer he’s faced, his impressive character off ice and I want him to succeed on our team, but we can’t afford to play people just because of their personal struggles or added meaning for certain games. We need to ice the best team possible, only taking into consideration on ice performance. That’s just how it has to be if you want to win games in any professional sports leagues. The best performers get to play. That sounds cold and heartless and I hate him feeling hurt by that decision given how much of an emotional beating he’s already had in his young life, but that’s just the way it goes in the NHL. Your performance is the only thing that matters for decisions on who plays. Regardless I hope he finds success here or if he’s traded, then elsewhere as he’s a really good guy who’s easy to root for.
  20. Make that 9 out of 10 games since after the Leafs game where Bear has improved his now season average xGF vs xGA net of -0.3. Today he had xGF 0.66 and xGA 0.44 or net +0.22. He’s really starting to gel here. I’m rooting so hard for the guy to blossom into a solid top 4 D. He’s faced a lot of adversity and his story is so inspiring and needed for the many First Nations communities here in BC and across Canada that are struggling with drugs, opioids, alcohol and suicides. I’m so proud and happy for him.
