    On this day in 1997, Mark Messier signs with the #Canucks on a 3-year, $18 million deal. The move doesn't live up to expectations though, as he records an unremarkable 162 points (52 of them goals) in 207 games with VAN, who fail to make the playoffs in all 3 of his seasons there

      Worst part, is he ripped the locker room apart. Caused Quinn to be gassed (BC Gas hatchet man pun intended). Yes we got Bertuzzi, out of it. And Linden was traded back to come home.

      But it was a dark, dark, depressing time.
