  1. nah thats just what people in denial say. beagles 9 minutes of 5on5 play does not make up for his PK stats, I mean the PK stats aren't even very good. The best PK's dont run 2 defensive centers with no offensive pushback on their PK. that 3 million would have been better spent on a puck possesion veteran instead. winning games is also good for developing your youth, so i also don't buy the leadership. we could have easily signed a 32 year old vet for a million dollars like brad richardson or nate thompson. also facceoff percentage is one of the most overrated stats in hockey, especially when the player is a 4th liner.
  2. paquette is a solid player at 1.65 and only slightly over paid. coburn was probably only worth maybe 900K he still played 19 games this year. in the end ottawa came away with a 2nd, 7th and ryan dzingel for -2ltir contacts and galchenyuk. this was a win/win trade. i don't see why we can't do the same as ottawa or go down the TBL route.
  3. that is not true about the offense, and you know it. he wasn't expected to score 20 goals and 35 points but his last 4 seasons he averaged 9g and 26 points over 82gp before he signed with us. since then he's averaged 3.5G and 14 points over 82gp. no one in their right mind would sign beagle for 4 years assuming/expecting for his goal/point totals to drop in half.
  4. a small price to pay for a 9 million dollar cushion, but generally not a terrible thing either because the bonus won't be carried over.
  5. they can as long as they trade for another player/ or another player gets and stays injured before Hossa's contract expires, so their is a deadline.. but as @mll suggests it's very tricky. if the player becomes healthy for some reason everything could fall apart and you would have before the end of the day before the league would assess penalties. you have to be very sure that player isn't recovering.
  6. true but if you have a player like ferland who never play again or kucherov who was "out for the season" you can continually circumvent the cap if players like this are added every offseason. because adding a LTIR player does not recalculate the ascl, There's always someone LTIRetired every year. any team that trades for a player with a ltir status and the team already has a LTIR player and very good acsl can utilize this loop. the canucks could do it, our acsl is like 81.492. we could trade for a LTIRetired player circumvent the cap and then trade ferland and beagle and we would have a bonus cushion of whatever the cap hit of the traded player is.
  7. no sir. right now they have a 98 million dollar cap hit, which doesn't even include the 7.5m in hossa and nillson. if you add all the salaries above 1.075m it comes to 107.8m - the LTIR OF 17.34= 90.5M the 7.5 million either gets carried over is not added to the final cap due to some loophole. due to exceptional cap management they actually had a playing roster over 90m at some points during the season. there's a loop hole when you trade for LTIR during the offseason because of the 10% bonus
  8. tampa traded a 2nd round pick ,brayden coburn and paquette for 7.5m in LTIR players which gave them 1.7-1.075+ 1.2-1.075 =750k+7.5m in extra cap space because They did it with kucherov already on LTIR. Which meant they could extend the offseason 10% bonus into the season, because adding a player already on LTIR thats not on your team is a loophole because you don't have to recalculate the ascl.
  9. i'm so confused because tampa had a 90million playing roster this year. I believe if you have a player already on LTIR and trade for another LTIR player during the offseason when the upper limit is 10% higher it does not adjust the ascl, allowing you to extend the 10% bonus into the season. that may not be entirely true, but you can circumvent the cap with LTIR players. it's how tampa and toronto did it.
  10. beagle and ferland. for palat 1M retained and maroon. would give us some pretty sweet lines palat petey boeser pearson horvat podkolzin hoglander miller lind/highmore? motte paquette maroon
  11. someone might trade for LOUI@50% for the purpose of buyout. would only cost he other team a million in cash and 1.5m total cap over 2 years. whats that cost a 2nd or third rounder?
  12. saad will cost more than Iafallo, and at least 4.25m like toffoli and maybe more. so I guess do we have 8M to sign two 3rd liners? 24.8m in cap space - a MINIMUM of 13 from ep40 and quinn on bridge deals. - 8m =3.8M to sign 2 4th liners and a D. 2M to hamonic and 1.8 to the forwards. the above numbers are based on beagle on LTIR, Roussel Buried, and Virtanen bought out. unless we lose motte to expansion we could only ice a 20 man roster, and if motte is taken we can afford highmore, and 3 other min league players for our 4th line and 21st player. we would have to make a trade like roussel or LE to make this work. LE At 50% retained might not be too painful, after that the other team could just buy him out for a million bucks and minimum cap hits of 1m next year and 500k the year after. Jim Just needs to be aggressive, this trade might only cost us a 2nd rounder
  13. but he was offered a 5-6m contract? just think the mtl gm that signed toffoli is out to lunch? you should compare his numbers to Iafallo or Lowry.
  14. Ek, 1.5M? for a 40 Point 24 YR Old Center? minimum 4M Bertuzzi- seems about right 3.5M Copp- I see he will probably sign for a litle more than Iafallo: Maybe 4.25m why would these teams let these players walk? also do you plan on circumventing the cap ala TBL?
  15. are you the guy that they call when the janitors just say no way? im kidding, i could care less what you do. also be careful what you speak about your job, there are smart people that know you are a contractor and work for the a company in sports and the nhl for twenty years. i have a idea what you do, but i wont say it.
  16. i have come to realize these topics, related to green and benning are fair ground for people to vent their frustrations. the topics I mentioned above, not so much. these people that post in these topics are somewhat relatable to the westboro baptist church, in the way they show up were they're not wanted and disrupting a good time.
  17. eww don't ask him that, all he needs is some crazed nerd to dox him.
  18. hey @wallstreetamigo has a point. this is starting to turn into a witch hunt. he makes convincing arguments, and backs them up. he isn't the issue with CDC. its the people that come onto the proposals/roster and GDT/PGT and just spread tired out insults and memes over and over, like they are stuck on repeat. He also points out that there is die-hard supporters that are part of the problem, this is probably true. It's just harder for supporters to see that because we think we are "true" fans. if we spent more time ignoring each other there would be less fights, but then we might have to do more IRL things GROSS!
