Good start so far, but we need to get one soon for the confidence.
We might have a lot of shots but again, it’s the quality of shots that matter. Long shots with no one there to make a screen are going to be stopped all night. It’s not always about how many shots but quality of shots.

You might very well think that but I get none of that thinking from Aquilini's tweets
I don’t take anything the aquilinis say seriously. I think they are bad hockey owners. Meddling is a horrible thing to have connected to a organization. The numbers don’t lie. He can say what he wants.

Where do you get that? I'm reading patience. Glad our owner doesn't run around like chicken little.
The sky is not falling.
They have to win 25 of 39 to make the playoffs. That’s not going to happen so yes for this year it is over.

Good to see Francesco put an end to the rumours. Benning has built this young core and has more pieces coming. He deserves to see it through. I believe he has learned from previous mistakes and its only up from here. This season is a write off anyhow.
How does he deserve things? You
just said this season is a write off anyhow but it’s a write off from all the losing from the team he assembled. He’s also responsible for losing picks and assets for nothing and not being able to resign our players. You could say he also deserves to be fired. He didn’t learn from his past mistakes, the flat cap didn’t allow him to do anymore stupid ones or get rid of past mistakes. I am frustrated that the status quo is ok for everyone involved. Any championship winning team doesn’t allow failures such as these. That’s why this hasn’t been a championship winning team and won’t be for the foreseeable future.

Too cheap to can anyone eh Mr. Billionaire... Sure it is an odd ball season, but you really okay with your young players playing a whole year in this tire fire environment with piss pour coaching and cap issues out the wazoo due to the GM who went to the cap and beyond during a retool?
You don't have to can everyone but sure as hell should make some sort of a move...you haven't extended the head coach so he is the easiest large scale move you can make, are his assistants all in their last year too...cause they should both go in season, no worries about quarantine...put Jason King on the bench temporarily until replacements complete quarantine.
Guess it is almost time to just look at the TDL and see if we try to gain any assets by moving some players out...or is that too risky for us and we rather not get picks or prospects back and let em walk for nothing...that is the Canuck way!!
I am already looking forward to next year, this season is almost a write off...see what kind of effort the team does the rest of the way
Exactly! Why tie your
hands with all these statements? now
you screw yourself when you
have to make changes. What if they lose 10-0. Is that ok? I don’t get why he had to come out and say this. Just another sign of their incompetence.
-
I love when he says continuing to build on what we have. Continuing to make bad free agent signings? I have never seen an organization just be ok with wasted money.

It’s quite obvious they don’t want to spend anymore money. He also doesn’t care about all the careless money Benning has spent either. The incompetence starts at ownership and trickles down. They are going to lose fans in the end. Being complacent is a losers mentality and I can’t stand the fact he would come out and say this. He just has to go against everything that makes sense. It’s the same way in which they didn’t go for a rebuild but sort of did. No leadership in this organization and it starts at the top. So no matter if they keep on losing nothing is going to change.Apathy will set in folks. Just terrible.

I'd argue our D on paper is better this year
So many players that offer the same thing though. They all have the same temperament which is a problem. Nobody that is physical. They all shy away from physical contact.

Green has been incompetent for a long time, he just had Markstrom to bail him out before
The defence has always been a mess. Until Hughes they were relying on Edler who was already past his prime. You have to give him the tools to succeed
and he wasn’t given them. The defence was an issue last year. We needed better defenseman and we still do. When have we ever had a good defence core under Benning??
-
I do feel bad for Green. The roster that he has had to deal with is not great. Two lines, the third and forth are garbage. His assistants should go and the gm who constructed the team should go before him. He’s trying his best with what he’s got. Benning is going to use him as the scapegoat to keep his job until the end of the year. Baumer and Newell should have never been renewed in the middle of the season. Another bonehead move by Benning. I feel like he will be here another ten years. Retooling and signing more dumb contracts without really rebuilding. It’s his fault folks. All that money sitting in the pressbox.

It just seems like Green knows nothing is going to happen. Nobody seems worried. Complacency is a bad thing in an organization.

Canucks are not even gonna win the lottery anyways. Whats the point...
You know how they love to try hard at the end to screw their draft position up.

Who thinks we are going to go 25 wins and 14 losses the rest of the way to make the playoffs? That’s what they need.

Canucks need to be 25 and 14 the rest of the way to making the playoffs. Not happening.

Two good games in a row. Losing is disappointing but I'm happy that overall play is getting better.
It just goes to show how hard it is to win in the NHL.
Seems like a lot of other teams are winning easily.

Post game comments:
Yep. “We just have to keep working at it.” “We deserve better than this.” “ It’s frustrating but we all want to win in here.” “We just have to be better.” This will be the norm. Of course Green.
”I liked our game tonight.” “ that’s a good team over there.” How many times have we heard this year that the other team has a great team? I don’t care about the other team. He’s basically saying our team

I think the players were happy to be home and felt better. They came up a bit short but were definitely happy to be back home and on the ice.
6 losses in a row. 6. That’s a lot of losing and everyone is happy they look better at least. So sad.

wasnt a terrible game
but not good enough
a failed season is looming if they cant turn this around. shorten season
We can’t keep saying if we don’t turn it around. If we were going to turn it around it would have been five games ago. We have said the exact same thing after every loss since then. Reality has to set in at some point and people have to realize this year ain’t happening the way the team is constructed.

It’s cumulative. From Benning to green and his assistant coaches system and of course the players. Everything is going wrong. Errors all over the place. The model isn’t built for success. Until they bring someone in with a great hockey mind and who doesn’t just rely on drafting then this is what we got.

That’s cause they have actually put in a good effort tonight
Yay. It’s ok to lose this many games in a row because they put in a good effort. They have a slim chance to make the playoffs now.

At least we have this man in charge.
