  1. You have not been paying attention. Carolina after fully filling out their roster and adding the additional skilled forwards they need will not be cap compliant. The negotiations with extending Pesce have not gone well and it's been reported that Buffalo, Edmonton, Vancouver are three teams with interest in acquiring him. The deal was not just for Beauvillier and Beauvillier not even cracking their lineup is comical...
  2. As I said. They. Need. Cap. Space. They. Cannot. Re-sign. Pesce. Regardless. They. Have. Limited. Leverage. Look at the Patrick Kane trade and many others as examples of teams running out of leverage. You can't seem to wrap your mind around that.. You also called replacing a 3rd round pick for a player that walked a spare part. You also called a recently turned 24 year old young powerplay quarterback who battled back from injuries off of two brutal cross-checks, a spare part. You also called a 23 year old, Hobey Baker nominee power forward who Vancouver worked for months to sign (and Allvin flew to Boston multiple times to meet with him and his family), a spare part. Then you called Beauvillier just a cap dump which is exactly what people in Vancouver tried calling him after the Horvat trade. Beauvillier came here and was given the bigger role he deserves and posted 20 points in 33 games and was a great locker room presence. Get real man.
  3. You seem to forget they are likely going to be trading Pesce to make cap space on top of the fact they can'f get him re-signed. They are not focused on getting some top NHL player in return. They are just focused on getting cap space and getting any value for Pesce before he walks as a UFA. So tell me how two C+ prospects plus replacing the 3rd they traded for Gostisbehere (who walked as a UFA), plus getting a 4th, plus getting $2.5 Million in LTIR cap space maneuvering. AND getting a proven NHL forward as well who is a young, character forward who's a playoff producer and so far a consistent 40 point player; getting him at 50% retained. Tell me how accomplishing clearing cap space, getting value for a player you cannot re-sign anyways, getting two prospects, two draft picks, LTIR cap space and also getting a skilled NHL forward is all not fair value??? Also the 2nd they add in my proposed deal is Philadelphias and they got that from this. They signed DeAngelo as a UFA and then later traded him to Philadelphia with a 7th in return for that 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th. Also to note they are officially getting DeAngelo back from Philadelphia tomorrow at 50% retained for only one prospect. (The league will let the deal go through then). So all in all the value is more than fair and is a great situation for both teams.
  4. A 26 year old, relatively healthy, speedy Beauvillier at my proposed 50% retention which is $2,075,000 and not $4,150,000. And is a pending UFA so is a perfect rental for a contender like Carolina. Or a 31 year old (going on 32 in December) injury-prone Tarasenko who has had three bad shoulder injuries, a shoulder surgery, a hand surgery, a concussion, and a bad lower body injury who will come in at least $1,000,000 or $2,000,000 higher than Beauvillier and be on a 2-4 year contract. Pretty damn easy decision.
  5. Hronek is three years younger and already had two 38 point outputs in not even full seasons while playing on a rebuilding bottom feeder. Pesce has one 30 point season at best this past season and plays a far more shutdown-type game. Hronek is also quite smart and effective in his own zone as well so all in all you cannot compare their value.
  6. Rathbone has only played 28 NHL games and only just turned 24. McDonough just got here from the NCAA a few months ago and played 6 games with limited ice time. It's called they're young players in the midst of their development and one of which was on the wrong end of two dangerous cross checks in the last two seasons. Give them some time before labelling them. Also building a team only with "top-end" guys is what leads to the New York Rangers of the last couple seasons. In terms of forward groups (which is the main thing Carolina is addressing) you need forwards like Beauvillier as well. Speedy, versatile, courageous character guys who are well liked in the dressing room. You're telling me a recently turned 26 year old forward who has a history of clutch playoff goals, has scored around 40 points consistently and was on pace for 50 in the Covid seasons, has alot of speed and only has one year on his contract remaining at my proposed 50% retention too which is only $2,075,000; you're telling me that player is not worth a 1st or 2nd? Man just stop while you're ahead. P.S. Beauvillier plays between 182-185 Lbs and not 170 so like I said, do some research.
  7. They need any playmaking top nine forwards they can get. They have to trade someone due to cap reasons and they are struggling to re-sign Pesce regardless. They only have so much leverage in trading him. You not only are underrating Beauvilliers value as many people on this forum have pointed out he is worth a 2nd or even 1st if we move him; but you are also showing you have zero knowledge of prospects or young players. Rathbone had a freak injury that stalled him but he is still a cheap, ($850,000 AAV), 24 year old defenseman who is a great kid that competes, has shown upside to run a powerplay, and can skate. As for McDonough you clearly forget that he was a top NCAA power forward and Vancouver worked for months to convince him to sign here and multiple NHL teams were interested if he had chosen to become a UFA. Add in we also give them a 3rd and a 4th and the value is there.
  8. Oh I'm sorry... Is a consistent 40-45 point playmaking winger that is a clutch scorer in the playoffs not exactly what Carolina needed to add this off-season? We give them that at 50% retained and add in two C+ prospects as well as give them a 2026 3rd which replaces the one they lost for Gostisbehere. And we give them a 4th plus $2.5 Million LTIR cap space... And ask them to throw in a 2nd Round Pick with a defenseman that they are going to have to trade regardless. Sorry but that seems like a great all-around deal. Do some research before being a smart***.
  9. VAN D Brett Pesce (PHI) 2024 2nd Round Pick CAR F Anthony Beauvillier (50% retained) D Jack Rathbone F Aidan McDonough D Tucker Poolman (LTIR cap space) (VAN) 2026 3rd Round Pick (NJD) 2024 4th Round Pick Get this completed Patrik Allvin.
  10. Guess they liked seeing him show alot of character in their arena. Willing to stay in net even with Miller swinging at his net...
  11. Yes because we really could have predicted Dermott getting a concussion in training camp... As I said before.. Our blueline was better with him in it and the concussion issue taking him down hurt us last season.
  12. My Movie 1.mov My Movie 2.mov RPReplay_Final1687557990.mov @Doxm @Phat Fingers @Gurn Since all three of you did not properly read what I said before commenting (if you read anything at all for that matter), here is a little highlight package for each of Radek Faksa, Steven Santini, Brenden Dillon. Maybe this will help you understand my point of view. Cheers
  13. As I said in my post we should not just wait until he is a UFA. Almost zero chance WPG lets him walk for nothing after giving up two 2nds for him. And as Allvin has said, we need/want a physical LHD now. This offseason. Not at the next trade deadline. Not next offseason. Now.
  14. What do you think would pry Dillon away from them? Vancouver needs a guy like him badly.
  15. Clearly something you did not read at all as you were apparently busy staring at corn frosted flakes...
  16. I talked about changing the culture and treating players and people as family and if you do have to trade or get rid of someone you still work to do what's best for them. So tell me how does telling Burroughs "Kyle we would keep you but we have numerous young D-men we would like to give a chance to pretty soon in the role you currently fill (Hirose, McWard, Johansson, Woo, Brisebois Rathbone). We want you to succeed though and are sending you to a team that needs a D-man of your style and are sending you to New Jersey to re-unite with your childhood best friend Curtis Lazar." So how does telling Burroughs that and putting him with his best pal piss him off? Have you seen how good of friends him and Lazar have always been? Not to mention he gets a bigger opportunity and likely more ice time in New Jersey.
  17. Not exactly. I proposed Burroughs and NJDs own 4th back to them for a very low 2nd. Burroughs + Lazar is worth that 2nd and more all day. The chances of that low 2nd even being a consistent depth NHL player like Burroughs or Lazar are already slim enough. Burroughs has value. He's a young RHD that can play both sides seamlessly, hits to hurt, protects teammates and can fight, can shoot, and has shown the potential to play 18-22 minutes per night effectively. He's played a number of games for us where he had to log 20 to even 23 minutes and he did a stellar overall job. Teams will want him if he reaches July 1st and NJD would love to have him signed and onboard early as well as their 4th in 2024 returned.. all for a low 2nd. As for the other trade with WPG I was putting Juulsens rights as a throw-in. Garland and the NJD 2nd was the value of the deal for WPG and if they ended up signing Juulsen from it too than that's a bonus and a young shutdown D-man that could be a steal if he stays healthy.
  18. It's okay we understand. You don't have a point and did not read the post before commenting.
  19. 1) Both those sign and trades were immediately after the Covid seasons. The cap has now been going back up since that first sign and trade and just went up $1,000,000 while being slated to go up significantly next season and beyond. If players like Burroughs could be had on the waiver wire than Burroughs would have been on waivers long ago. He stepped in due to injuries two years ago and has since carved out an NHL role and elevated his game. The fact you think NJD would not love a D-man of their style that is cheap and friends with Lazar and also they get back the 4th they gave for Lazar; all for a very low 2nd Round Pick.. THAT is laughable. 2) You clearly have no idea what the landscape of the league is currently as Dallas has had Faksa as a trade chip for months and they NEED cap space so they don't really have a choice. Getting the Rangers 4th evens out the Lundkvist trade a little for them and gives them a decent pick back in a deep draft where they've lost multiple picks. On top of getting cap space and yes LTIR maneuvering with Poolman plus a prospect.. How is that not fair value when they have no leverage in a Faksa trade and HAVE to trade him basically. 3) I mentioned WPG getting Juulsens UFA rights so READ PROPERLY before coming after my post. That is exactly why I said read all the way through first at the very top. 4) No one would trade for a young two-way RHD that just played on a gold medal IIHF championship team and will start on LTIR and give cap maneuvering ability (which in NYIs case they need). Plus I said the Toronto 3rd with Bear so Bear + 3rd for a mid 2nd Round Pick is not fair? Get real. 5) Detroit has cap space. Detroit in the last few months has lost RHD in Hronek, Lindstrom, Pysyk and NEEDS a RHD of Myers size and experience level. Basically anything is a sweetener for them taking one year of Myers. A Gatorade bottle would be a sweetener at this point..
  20. Burroughs is an under the radar type that would have interest from any and every team. Getting him already signed early plus getting their 4th Round Pick back is easily worth a 2nd for them. Read the details! You do realize that Burroughs is a young RHD that seamlessly plays both sides, hits to hurt, protects his team, can fight, can shoot, has shown he can handle even 18-22 minutes per night, you do realize that yes? Him being a late bloomer and on league minimum the last few years also shows he can likely be had for pretty cheap on the cap. The chance of NJD finding an NHL D-man that can do everything Burroughs does at late in the 2nd Round at 58th is pretty slim. Let alone drafting a guaranteed NHL player. For them it's Burroughs & Lazar over that pick and that is Burroughs & Lazar >>>> all day. But we need picks and more roster room + cap space and they need a D-man like Burroughs. Great trade for both teams.
  21. Well our 3x Stanley Cup winning President of Hockey Operations disagrees with you and agrees with me on making far more significant changes so....
  22. Did you even read or consider the fact that I'm taking a different approach? Or should we just post and recycle the same old ideas about overpaying UFAs and overpaying in a trade for some injury-riddled C like Laughton? Doing things the way most people have proposed has gotten us to only making the playoffs twice in eight years.
