  1. Had Ardbeg Wee Beastie and Shelter Point Smoke Point in hand. Went with the Shelter Point based on some of the earlier chatter/recommendations in here. Will open in the coming days and report back. Hoping it’s good, as the store had 4 different Shelter Points with plenty of stock.
  2. I was disappointed in the Distillers myself. Great flavor, but the finish was so underwhelming.
  3. That 12 is pretty good, had it soon after it released, but I’d put the $$ towards another bottle personally. That 16 will do the trick for you.
  4. Damn been looking for another 16 for a while now. How I long for the days of my youth when Alberta Superstore was selling it for $84…
  5. Really nice breakdown, I see it almost exactly the same and there isn’t much I can add. I do think that if Fantilli didn’t have the ‘freak of nature’ Bedard on the team, he would be getting a lot more opportunities offensively, which would rly put him on display. But between Bedard, Wright, Guenther and Stankoven, I see him as slightly buried, and his defensive proficiency allows him to be effective lower in the lineup. I am a rly big fan of his skill set, as he seems to drive the play very well every time he is on the ice no matter where the puck is. He is engaged and locked in on the play, and his decision making is excellent. I find Carlsson very similar, but slightly more opportunistic. He waits for the play to develop a bit, and then calculates the best play to make, and then executes, whereas Fantilli looks to make the play develop himself. It’s not to say Carlsson isn’t a play driver, I just think Fantilli does it better. For me, I still have Fantilli above Carlsson as I don’t think the offensive gap is a great as you do, but to each their own there. Both great players and teams will be lucky to have a shot at snagging them. I have Fantilli at 2 and Carlsson at 3.
  6. Right, I had forgotten about that. Definitely helps explain a bit. Thanks. Interesting that that article also mentions him getting mono in the summer, which is somewhat contrary to the original diagnosis last Feb/March. Can you get mono twice that quickly? Or are people just meaning he still had it in the summer, or implying that it had affected his training in the summer? Genuinely curious since I keep seeing summer mentioned.
  7. I asked/mentioned this a page or so back. It was reported he had mono last Feb/March. Did he get it again in the summer or something? I get that it can have lingering affects, but we’re approaching a year since it was reported he contracted it. Yes, it could have affected his training, and yes, it’s possible he is still playing catch up. But at the same time, you’re an athlete, you still find ways to train, and he hasn’t missed any playing time this season (due to mono) that I know of. And yet, it seems like every second post in here mentions it. It just seems strange to me, but perhaps I am in the dark on some info. I personally don’t view his play as having been bad this tournament, but he definitely hasn’t stood out for anything in particular. His engagement in play still seems fairly weak which has been my biggest issue with him for a while now. If mono has affected his conditioning this much, start doing some V02 training or something.
  8. Very similar case for me. Bought three years ago and now assess at $683k. My assessed value has more than doubled since I bought. Might be time to dispute my value. Third straight yr of well over $100k gain. Property taxes will be getting out of control.
  9. Not trying to argue your point, but Virtanen did spend his draft +1 back in junior with the Hitmen. Draft +2 was NHL and draft +3 was mainly spent in the AHL, so he did receive some development beyond being thrown straight and only into NHL action. I know everyone keeps mentioning the mono he went through which obviously affects a person for a while, but that was quite a long time ago now. Unless he got it again or something, he was diagnosed last Feb/March if I’m not mistaken. Let’s hope he can put together a few good performances in this WJC and transfer it back into Djugardens.
  10. I managed to snag a Blanton’s Original this morning. Nicely done. The $100-$130 range is a sweet spot for good deals. That Aberlour is damn good. I almost grabbed one myself. I’m starting to get more into the Bourbon game lately. Here is my most recent haul. As you can see, I’ve been into the bourbons lol.
  11. I know it's the most popular, but I haven't had another Lag as good as the 16. I've had the 8, limited release 12, and the Distiller's Edition, and the 16 is the best for me. Distillers could beat it if it didn't have a lackluster finish. Thing just dies off so quickly.
  12. As I mentioned a page back, to me it stems from more of a pacing issue than skating issue. He has separation speed, but he doesn't use it that often. If he played with more pace overall, I don't think it gets as much attention.
  13. I noticed much of the same. It's easy to notice he is a bit ineffective on this stage, but have to remember he just turned 18 and much of the competition is 19 or 20 this time around. What I found somewhat concerning, and I think this ties in with people questioning his skating, is he seems to coast a fair bit. When he is actually skating, he can generate good speed like he did on the rush through the neutral zone and beat the defender wide (great play by the US defender to knock the puck off his stick btw). The separation speed is there, but he seems to be playing a bit tentatively. Now is that because he is a young guy in the tournament? Definitely plausible. But I have noticed this before, which could be a bit of a lack of effort or pace thats the issue. I don't know the TOI figures, but I'd imagine Ohgren and Lekkerimaki had similar totals, but I know Ohgren was hustling to forecheck the US defenders. He has more of the frame to do it, but he also seemed much more willing, which is something I always liked with Ohgren's game. Definitely not writing him off by any means, just my main takeaway from yesterday's showing.
  14. Carolina continues the great picks with Grudinin.
  15. I must say, I rly like Carolina and Columbus drafting the last few yrs. They seem to always get a good player wherever they pick. Carolina already snagged Trikozov, Perevalov, Forsmark and Lucius today. Columbus nabbed Jiricek and Mateychuk yesterday, today Dumais and Dolzhenkov.
  16. Lol we must be in the same area. Small world.
  17. Damn was getting way too excited for Nazar.
  18. Expecting him to be gone, but would LOVE to see him make it to 15.
  19. Good idea @Isam We'll see who gets their favorite tmrw. Was fun to hear everyone's last minute picks.
  20. I think your the only other guy I've seen that isn't as high on Korchinski. I'm not big on him either from watching the WHL playoffs. Great skater, but his stride looked a bit strange to me, almost like he is clumsy on his feet? Hard to describe. But his lack of goal scoring is also a concern to me. It's such a nice compliment for a defensemen to be able to threaten with a shot, especially on the PP, but I didn't find his to be anything special. Not that I think he is gonna be a bust, but I see much higher upside in Minty if your going after a scoring defensemen. Minty looks very promising, my pick of the mid tier defensemen for sure. Funny, I like both Nazar and particularly Savoie. To each their own.
  21. Not sure if this was directed at me and supposed to be included with the Trikozov response? I'll provide an answer either way, but do forgive me if I'm wrong on that my friend. Off the top, I was a bit of a slacker this year in regards to the draft, as last year was such a letdown to put in all the time watching just to see JB trade the 9th. I went pretty deep on the draft last year, specifically on Johnson and Klimovich. Also where I started posting about Miro, Lambert etc. So when we lost the 9th, I was pretty down lol which fed into this year's analysis, but I've been putting in some hours in the last two months to get acquainted with atleast the 1st round. As far as Trikozov, he's just been my favorite to watch. I can't claim to have live watched many of the prospects, but I do scour YouTube for both highlights (and game tape if possible). I'm not sure I would pick him at 15, but Isam said list your favorite so I did. As for Ohgren, I was able to watch the Swedish trio at the WJC for a few games, and really liked him. Ostlund stood out for the flash, Lekerrimaki the shot rate, but Ohgren seemed to be doing the work and making the smart plays, distributing the puck, working the boards etc. I rly like the way he thinks the game, just consistently makes smart plays no matter where on the ice. And I believe he served as captain of of the U-18 team as well, which is always a plus. I said earlier that he uses his size as a positional advantage against his peers, which is rly smart, but I want him to use it more physically going forward. I said earlier that I like to see prospect have elite qualities, and Ohgren may somewhat go against that, but I think he is above average at everything, which is why I think the nucks will pick him at 15 if he's there.
  22. Personal Pick: Trikozov Reality Pick: Ohgren Dream Pick: Slafkovsky
  23. In 55 games, which paced him for 20 points exactly. As I said in my earlier reply, if Cernak keeps scoring as he has so far and plays over 900 games like Mitchell, he will outscore him by a decent margin (about 30%). Mitchell had a career .198 PPG, Cernak is currently at .261 PPG. The guy is a beast, and valuable on his current contract. I do think I would be ok with 15th for him straight up. But it's hard to turn down the possibility of getting a more valuable piece as you know some of those lottery tickets will hit. Really depends how confident you are in your scouting staff I guess.
  24. I don't think I would myself. Cernak or Gavrikov I could see myself possibly accepting, but they have shown a fair bit more offensively than Mitchell ever did. Willie only topped 20 points twice in his career, and I don't have the fondest memories of his 7ft long stick knocking pucks into our own net lol. I would spend the 15th elsewhere and hope to draft that player later or trade for a cheaper price.
  25. I'm not saying he has too, and I see the value of a player of that caliber for sure. My problem with the comparison is Willie Mitchell was drafted 199th overall, not 15th. Is it the best asset management taking Bichsel at 15th? Would you trade the 15th pick for Cernak right now? I can't say exactly how I would feel about that move. If Cernak plays as many games as Mitchell, he will outscore him by 30%, so Cernak is somewhat a better version of Mitchell. Like I said, even as a second round pick (depending on who all slips) I would take Bichsel as I do like what he brings and can see him playing meaningful minutes.
