  1. Starting to wonder about the captaincy of this team. Should the captain be a leader? I don’t see leadership from Horvat. His work ethic has dropped off. He’s big enough to hit but rarely does so. Virtanen is the new Erickson - just a useless overpaid slug. He could hit but he doesn’t. There is more energy in a nursing home. The two biggest talents on the team must feel exploited being paid peanuts while Erickson, Beagle, Sutter, Virtanen, Roussel are all greatly overpaid for what they contribute. That has got to be unhealthy. They all know this team is screwed up and going nowhere. They all know the incompetence of the general manager. So why bust a gut for nothing.
  2. I seem to remember seeing Holtby in a brawl and he looked pretty good. We are down to the point where we should consider dressing Holtby as a forward and just have him smash people, including 24. ;-)
  3. Cowan? Unmemorable. Hordi and Dorset - middleweights and mediocre. Tough = Kurtenback, Smyl, McIlhargey, Cox, Gino, Brashaer and ? We have several guys who are poor skills, unenergetic and not tough. What the hell are they doing taking a roster spot?
  4. Slow? You talkin feet or fists? Maybe try Rayovac. Heard he can light it up.
  5. Need to teach Hoglander the Wayne Mackie manoeuvre when being attacked by a thug. He’s got to get some more Marchand in his game. It’s pathetic we have Roussel as our “tough” guy - a big miss in putting this team together. Geeeno, Geeeno, Geeeno!
  6. Forbert is a complete A whole. Hope McEwan thumps him out. Good for Myers jumping in there without hesitation. Hoglander check looked clean, shoulder to chest. Forbert should be ashamed he can’t take a hit like that. What a puss.
  7. This was my takeaway from the game that even though there was lots of good stuff going on I most appreciated the steady work of OJ. Steady is the word, and as he gains confidence he will grow. Perhaps an Edler type? He doesn’t seem to be a massive ego but I did like that flicker of a smile as he recalled the big check on Tkachuk in the last game. He is definitely looking more like a first rounder. And a keeper!
  8. Yep, Bell’s earnings up by a third and raised their dividend. Also, the guy who signed off on this is Wade Oosterman who last year was paid almost $7 million !! Bell has declared moral bankruptcy.
  9. I wonder if the 1040 people could do like the CHEK employees did when the corporates were shutting down the tv station. As I understand it they banded together and acquired the operation themselves. And it still is running and providing employment as well as being a community treasure in the Van Isle market. I hope they will get creative and put something together. Get some unconventional financing through Van City credit union? Go Fund Me? Angel investor? The idea of a comedy station at 1040 is truly a very sick joke. Will these mass firings and change of format trigger a review of licence by the Canadian Radio and Television Commission?
  10. Is that you Luigi? You need to get checked out by a doctor.
  11. I’m guessing the “net” part refers to the gross number of new customers less the number of old customers who left during that quarter. In any case it shows that Bell has been doing very well during tough times yet they still saw fit to spray a toxic tank full of misery on their vulnerable employees whose chances of reemployment must be slim indeed. Cutting back when corporate survival is on the line is one thing, but this is not that. Shame on them. Something to be considered when choosing telecom services in the future.
  12. From the Motley Fool financial folks: “BCE (TSX:BCE)(NYSE:BCE) is one of Canada’s largest telecommunication operators. Last week, the company had reported its fourth-quarter earnings. Despite the pandemic’s impact, the company added 147,000 net new customers during the quarter. Its direct fiber and rural wireless home internet locations reached 6 million at the end of the last year. Meanwhile, the company’s management expects the number to reach 6.9 million by the end of this year. Amid the increased demand for its services, BCE has planned to make a $1 to $1.2 billion capital investment over the next two years to expand its broadband fiber network. It is also looking at expanding its 5G network, which has reached 150 markets across Canada. These initiatives could drive the company’s top line, bottom line, and cash flows in 2021. The management expects its top-line to grow by 2% – 5%, while its adjusted EPS could increase by 1% – 6%. Further, the company’s management has raised its 2021 dividends by 5.1% to $3.50 per share, marking its 13 consecutive years of dividend hike of more than 5%. Its dividend yield currently stands at an attractive 6.3%.“ Bunch of greedy bastards IMO. Best wishes to all the devastated families from today’s corporate actions.
  13. JD is awesome. He may be too intelligent for you. The show with him and Wadden on Saturday was a favourite for me and I am sickened by this typically “corporate” move.
  14. As pathetic as this may sound I feel like I have lost a large group of friends today. It’s like there has been a plane crash with everyone killed. So very sad. In an odd way, although the talk is often complaining about this or that and stirring minor controversy, at the bottom it was always about buddies, small talk and light-hearted humour. I will miss them all greatly. One more thing, Bell has shown itself to be the worst of corporate citizens and the most heartless of employers in how they handled this. Disgusting. And how hypocritical to “support” mental health and then inflict mental suffering in a most cruel way on dozens of employees and their families. A pox on Bell!
  15. Then I feel sympathy for you too. Good luck and take care.
  16. I don’t think you understand how devastating and painful it is to lose a job, especially through no fault of your own and especially in this economic climate where the prospects of reemployment are so slim. People’s lives are torn apart here. Gloating and joy are unseemly to say the least.
  17. Hoglander showing way too much enthusiasm. Obviously not the fit that management wants. Benning will run out of time to sign his next contract.
  18. The enduring mystery of our time. Stetcher was great here and gave 100%. Benning incompetence most likely. And what a message to give to the rest of the team.
  19. That is ultimately what will happen if this management team, including ownership, continues on. This is toxic. Benning and the Aquas have repeatedly made three types of critical mistakes: signing stupid contracts (both as to length and amount), failing to retain good personnel and players, and disrespecting good people who have been loyal soldiers. Right now we are circling the drain. Can you imagine how dispiriting it is to see your friends disrespected and not rewarded while Louie Erickson continues to collect a ridiculous amount of money every month. Who wants to be associated with that?
  20. Aqualini slum landlord background is showing. No business ability beyond exploiting people. Benning is just their incompetent puppet and the players are smart enough to see the whole disgusting attitude of treating faithful warriors like crap. (Ask the Gaglardis or Trevor Linden about the business practices of the Aqualinis.)The fish rots from the head. Vancouver fans need to revoke the social licence of this family owning our team.
