Jake Livingstone?
He’s going to have a lot of NHL teams looking to sign him this spring. Could be the #1 college free agent this year (he was top-5 on a lot of lists last year, until he decided to go back to school). Hopefully the Canucks are in the mix and find a way to convince him to sign here. Him being a BC boy (born and raised in Creston, played BCHL for Langley before college) might help (he was a Flames fan as a kid, like a lot of the southeast BC folks).
There aren’t too many “free prospects” out there that profile as close to perfect as Livingstone, when it comes to addressing Vancouver’s current needs. Adding him to our system would be a huge win.
He’s big (6’3”) and strong, right shot RHD, can skate well, offensively gifted, heavy shot and likes to shoot the puck, good puck skills (he’s had some end-to-end rushes where he’s stickhandled around multiple opponents), solid on defence (had some room to improve here but he’s worked hard on his defence), rugged, physical defender who can clear the crease, uses his size and reach to force guys outside, plays big minutes in all situations (PP, 5v5, PK), good work ethic, has really good habits (diet, fitness, etc), character/leadership. I mean, what’s not to like?
He’ll be 24 when he signs his ELC, so it would be a one year deal, and could get burned off immediately (by playing a few NHL games in 2022-23) and then he’d be RFA by the summer of 2023.
Yeah it's too bad that he'd actually, most likely still be 23 at the time he signs the contract. His NCAA season most likely ends in March and his 24th Bday isn't til Apr 16th but they use the age as of Sept 15th of whatever year the contract is signed. Being able to get that extra year of ELC would of been nice, assuming we actually land him. But maybe it just means we can get him on a cheap bridge after burning his only ELC year for the last month of the season.
Again, this is all assuming he signs here, which is far from guaranteed.

Ok here let me lay it out for you:
First @NUCKER67 said:

Then @MaxVerstappen33 responded with:

Then, at this point, you chimed in with:

So then I decided to remind you that:

Now I get to quote a legend of CDC.
Hope this helps.

He sure did say that. And just so you realize, there isn't a single player from that roster currently on the team, so.....

Lmao. Umm probably because BB told him not to bother. Petey is by far the least of our worries at forward and it gives Dries a place to practice before being scratched. Pettersson is the best and most complete 2-way forward on the team and his effort level in every game is always 100%. I don't think there is a single player in that room that would question Peteys desire to win.
And as for Hughes, I'd be more concerned about him not taking the skate if it wasn't for the fact that since Quinn Hughes has joined the NHL, there isn't a single defenceman in the league with more assists than him over that time.

Nice to JL starting to get some more confidence after scoring last game. That move at the blue line, at full speed and staying onside is really impressive.
In case anyone is wondering how some of the comparable players are doing at the same tournament so far:
Lekkerimäki: 3GP 1G 1A
Öhgren: 3GP 1A
Östlund: 3GP 1A
Kemell: 2GP 2A

Jeeze. Came in here to ponder the question of whether people think King Loui Eriksson signing with Frölunda HC (Johansson's SHL team) is a good thing, bad thing or meh for us?
But after seeing the state of this board for the last 24 hours:

He's laying the groundwork. Bruce was never his guy and he's simply waiting this out. If it wasn't for the torrid pace to end last season, I suspect Bruce would've been gone already.
With the criticism on record now, it make it that much easier for media/fans to accept the inevitable when JR pulls the plug on the 'Bruce There It Is' experiment.
Like I've said repeatedly, management created this desperate situation we're in right now, by coming into the season with essentially the same group of players and inexplicably expecting different results. Blaming Bruce for their record is disingenuous at best and negligent at worst - the flaws in the team were there from the day JR arrived and he's not addressed them adequately to expect any different results imo.
What I can't understand is, why didn't JR make it clear to BB that he wasn't his guy last offseason, before BB decided to exercise his option to coach this year. It wouldn't of cost Aqua anymore money since it was optional for BB to coach this year. JR could of just told him at the end of last season: "Hey, you did great, I appreciate everything you did for this team to finish the season. We are deciding to go in a different direction with the coaching for next season. All the best." Obviously JR doesn't seem to have quite that level of tact but it really would of made things a lot easier.
Now, maybe BB was well aware of the fact he wasn't wanted back by management and he spent his time in the off season looking at other jobs. He did take a while to make his decision. When he found he wasn't going to get an offer from anyone else he decided to stick his middle finger up at management and take the option and the $2.5 million it included (hard to pass up on that kind of $ if you don't have anything coming in to replace it)
Obviously this is all hypothetical but seems like this whole public dressing down could of been avoided.

Alex Formenton still hasn’t been signed, would love to grab him somehow but I think he’s asking for way too much
I'm thinking Alex Formenton isn't signed because of his involvement with the 2018 Team Canada WJ Team. He's one of a number of players that never came out with a statement saying he wasn't involved. I'm guessing the Sens are well aware of his status in the investigation and that's why he's not signed, not whatever his asking price is.
I'd pass on him until that's all concluded. Don't want to end up in a Miller/Bruins situation.

Didn't he have surgery in the off-season to deal with a nagging 2 year discomfort? Maybe he's not yet 100% on mobility this season
Yes he did .....
Demko suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury in an April 19 home game against the Ottawa Senators. He stayed in the game, which the Canucks lost 4-3 in a shootout to end a six-game winning streak. Desperate to keep his team in the playoff race, Demko played hurt the next two games, allowing five goals in each during losses in Minnesota and Calgary, skewing his own statistics downward before coming out of the lineup.
He still won’t reveal the injury but confirmed it required surgery right after the season.
Wouldn't surprise me. He's very clearly having a bad start to the year, something is definitely effecting him. But with his last two years, I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt to work through it and for once we actually have a competent back up that can take up some of the slack and win (even steal) games while Demmer works out his issues.

My comment had nothing to do with Petey or this post either. My comment was about how you saying Torts called this teams mentality that of a country club was completely asinine and irrelevant.
JR calling this teams mentality a country club matters because JR is around the team now and has seen, in his opinion, what is going on with the current team and current players. You bringing up that Torts called it a country club means nothing because that was 8 years ago and NONE of those players are here anymore and that comment he made is therefore, in the context of our current team and players, irrelevant.
Yes, you did not bring up Torts originally, Max did but it was you that brought Torts' comment in to the convo and my response to you was just reiterating that what Torts said 8 years ago has no bearing on today's team.
