Agreed. If they had any inkling that he was going to miss warmup I would have preferred the Canucks to have announced that the team elected to sit him for the game out of an abundance of caution . Take the decision out of his hands, reduce the negative publicity on him, and keep the focus on the night rather than on the player.

I think anyone who was in this thread last night would understand that it’s not about internal validation for a member of lgbtq+. It’s about acceptance and inclusion not to mention actual safety. If they had seen some of the vile anti-gay, God will smite them down or I will do it myself bs, violent & threatening posts instead of the sanitized version that the mods had to clean up for a family audience. Just because “some are fine with it” doesn’t mean everyone else is. That’s what the night is supposed to be all about.
