  1. This is awesome. For everyone saying the new forum isn't the same: it's not. It's better. It just makes so much more sense to have a fan forum hosted by fans and not the franchise. Get your asses over there.
  2. Honestly, it's pretty damn close to the same. Same layout, style and a lot of the same people. Even the old threads have been carried over. To me it's the same but even better because the fans have broken away from the franchise and created their own forum. That's how it should be. I'm actually starting to see this as a win win.
  3. Damn I've been on this forum under some username or another for over 15 years. That's more than half my life!! I've gone through long periods of non-use but it will be sad to knowing I won't be able to check CDC when Canucks discussion or news is lacking elsewhere. The trades, signings and rumors sub was where I used to go for breaking news. It makes sense though, from a business standpoint it is a bit odd for official team sources to be hosting a fan forum. That's usually left up to a third party for obvious reasons. Still sad.
  4. Dude who wrote this? You can't just copy and paste a news article without crediting the writer. Next time just post a link the story or something this is hella sus lol.
  5. It's not though. Other than the little leg kick their mechanics aren't very similar at all. Go watch some vintage Nazzy highlights. Naslund's body moved in a much smoother fashion when he was shooting. He had flow. Lek's upper and lower body don't look nearly as in sync compared to Naslund.
  6. They don't even play the same side.
  7. Not really. It's a nice shot for sure, but he doesn't shoot like Naslund. Lekkerimaki shoots right. Their shots look very different actually.
  8. These aren't so much hot takes but more just general predictions for the upcoming season. Either Podz or Hoglander will score 18 plus goals. Not sure which one. It won't be both of them. But it won't be neither either. One will do it. Other than Myers, Jack Studnicka will be the first Canuck to be traded. If Myers doesn't go at all, Studnicka will be the first. Jack Rathbone is traded, unless he's already been picked up on waivers. Penalty kill continues to struggle early in the year, causing a huge uproar and concern but they figure it out by Christmas and finish in the top 20. Demko cracks 35 wins for first time in career, gets at least one Vezina vote. Christian Wolanin gets at least 20 points, is viewed as legit top-six d-man and potential unsung hero by season's end. PDG dresses in 75 plus games. Max Sasson gets a call up before Raty... people get mad/concerned about Raty's development because of that but really he's doing just fine and becoming a reliable two way player in the A. Lekkerimaki re-establishes himself as a top prospect after a very strong season where he finishes as one of Orebro's top five scorers. D-Petey looks more and more like a steal with each game. Silovs' hype-train is cooled a bit after a up and down season. Jett Woo plays his first NHL game this year. Petey signs an extension sometime between Christmas and March 15th, finishes the season with 90-99 points. Boeser becomes a mainstay on PP1, hits 60 points. Tocchet experiments by playing Miller back on the wing but ultimately is forced to use him at center due to lack of C options. Miller's offensive numbers regress into the 60/70 point range but he's more reliable as a two-way player. Hronek struggles a bit defensively and with turn overs early but overall has a strong year and is viewed positively among fans. Management makes an ill-advised trade to add someone with "toughness" to the forward group. Vancouver finishes with 94-99 points. The Canucks play Edmonton in the first round... series goes at least six games, not sure who wins. Canucks could upset but I wouldn't bet on it. Edmonton probably wins.
  9. I've got another one I want to get on record before training camp: Noah Juulsen has an absolute breakout year and finally comes close to some of his draft potential. Dresses in 60 plus games for the big club and averages over 15 minutes a night. I could really see him being a late-bloomer. He battled through some major injury problems earlier in his career and is just starting to string together a good streak of professional hockey for the first time now. He looked dominant for Abby in the Playoffs.
  10. For those that don't know, a hot-take is a bold, often counter-intuitive prediction. Training camp is just about a month away and with the Suter signing we should have a pretty decent idea of what the roster will look like. With so many variables and unknowns heading into this year it's really hard to say how the season will go. So let's make some wild predictions. I'll start. Andrei Kuzmenko will be the first Canuck to score 50 since Bure Why it will happen: Kuzmenko was just getting started last year and scored 39. He bounced around lines at the start of the season and was even a healthy scratch. His conditioning wasn't great and both coaches had trouble trusting him in his own end. He's clearly been putting in the work this summer and will come to camp in stellar shape. He'll earn Tochett's trust by showing improvement on D and being in great shape. The kid wants to earn his ice-time and he'll do just that and more. He'll be a staple on Petey's wing and the net-front of PP1 from opening night. The chemistry between him and Petey was already insane last year, imagine the damage they'll do with more time to grow as a duo. He's steadily improved each year of his career and I see him continuing that trend. He'll be more prepared to handle the rigours of a 82 game year and will want to prove last season wasn't a fluke. Yes his shooting percentage was insane last year (27% I believe) but that's because he's an insanely efficient scorer. He's a tap-in and empty net wizard who is able to deke his way around goalies and slide the puck into the empty net. He's always in perfect position with his stick on the ice waiting for a pass. He would have scored 60 with the Sedins. I also believe he'll shoot more this year. He won't keep up the insane shooting percentage but a modest shooting percentage decrease to the high teens combined with more of a shooters mentality will have Kuzy pot 50. Kuzmenko finishes the year with 52 goals and 40 apples. Book it. Why it won't happen: Regression, regression, regression. Kuzmenko and his 27% shooting is the most obvious candidate to regress in the whole NHL. It's simply unsustainable. No one has a shooting percentage that high for an extended period of time. He got lucky last year and benefited from being an unknown player in the league. Defenses will focus on him a lot more he'll have a hard time finding the open ice he did last year. Sophomore slumps are so common for a reason. He will regress to about 20 to 25 goals and 45 to 60 points, which is a lot more indicative of the player he actually is. ---------------- Alright there it is. My hottest take for this year. Am I an idiot? Is it possible? What's your hottest take for the year? Let's hear em!
  11. Forwards: Kuzy - Petey - Micky Hogz - Miller - Boeser Beauvillier - Suter - Garland Joshua - Bleuger - Podz PDG/Aman Really banking on Hoglander breaking out this year. If he falters Tochett will hand his spot to PDG pretty fast. Would love to see him have a huge year though. Other than that I think these lines look solid. Definitely will be some interesting battles in camp. Also a relatively young lineup. I believe Miller is the only forward in his thirties. Defense: Hughes - Cole Soucy - Hronek Wolanin - Myers OR Hughes - Juulsen Cole - Hronek Soucy - Myers I really liked Juulsen's game in Abbotsford last year. He looked too good for that league. If he could establish himself as a legitimate option on the right side with Hughes that would be so huge for this team. It's probably asking a bit much from a guy who's 26 and hasn't broken through as an everyday NHLer yet though. I think the first group is a lot more likely. I'm really excited to see Wolanin for a full season. I think he has the potential to be this year's unsung hero. Won't be surprised if we view him as an important piece by the end of the year. These pairings don't even take a potential Myers trade into consideration. Not to mention guys like Hirose, Johansen, Brisebois, Matt Irwin and Jett Woo. Gonna be really interesting to see how it all shakes out. I definitely think Hirose and Woo will play games in the NHL this year. Just how many they play will be the bigger question. Johansen is a wild-card. Former first round pick that the organization is really high on. I don't have big expectations but who knows maybe he'll surprise us. Man I wish camp would start already.
  12. Hunt hasn't played an AHL game in five seasons. He's a good depth NHL player.
