The most painful part of all of this - is that while we are clearly one of the worst teams in the NHL, we are not even good at executing that part. We win 3-4 in a row and fool ourselves into thinking that we have just had some bad stretches on our way to the inevitable 23rd best team in the league finish. Masters of mediocrity. The Aquilini way.

The greatest struggle of a longtime Canuck fan at this point is to become apathetic or not. Being the laughing stock of friends who have long abandoned the team is frustrating on nights like this. There is no light of hope here. Ownership may have succeeded in the real estate business but quite frankly, just having capital in the lower mainland market didn't make this a very challenging mountain to climb, over the past 20-30 years. Running a sports team on the other hand, requires actual saavy.

Unfortunately a lot of people will crucify him because of his reputation for enjoying the night life. I hope that he gets the wake-up call he needs to take his career path seriously. So few people get an opportunity to make millions and set themself up for an easy life thereafter.

[Report] Calgary files Arbitration with Tkachuk

I have to agree. Tkachuk is good but I don't think he is in the top echelon of players nor should he be paid as such. This could be a trap for any team that buys into the hype. I really dislike the Flames. However, I do feel slightly bad. Overall, it worries me to bring on an American-born player to a Canadian team. Kev -

Would be nice if Chicago decided to play for something. Watched a few of their games lately against playoff contenders and they have zero pride in their game. -

Tough one. A few random thoughts - Petterson stepped up in this one. In high pressure situations I find he excels. Something I am hopeful for in the future. - Playing Demko after the Ottawa game was a mistake IMO. - No matter how you boil it down, in big game situations I find that Myers is a weak link that opposing teams have learned how to expose through game planning. - While the referees didn't overwhelm the game, we only had one powerplay as one of our players was practically bleeding out. Beyond that, the calls were weighted one way. IMO, the NHL needs to display more clarity and accountability for refereeing. The MLB does an excellent job of this with umpires who cannot adhere to the strike zone. While I am disappointed, I am still proud of the team for bouncing back to deficits in this game twice. I wanted to see what they could do in the playoffs. We have suffered too many years of not being in the mix. I hope this is the last. Kev
