  1. In world war 1 Russia and Germany put forth a cease fire and killed a huge group of wolves who were killing the injured. Some humanity might do the russians some good, in fact i know it will. Pit one army against any other in the world and not one is more evil or innocent. The Russian army and its families are suffering too. yes Ukraine is suffering more, but thats not the point. Russia is not the United states, it does not have major profits due to war. Its economy has shrunk by 12%. the rich aristocats will be fine, but the citizens not so much. You think you would be different than any other citizen? Leading Psychologist's says no. and as gruesome as it sounds and as unbelievable as it is may be, many agree that if we were born in Nazi Germany we would also be Nazi's.
  2. of course they have been. name a more vilified country than Russia that plays in the WJHC. i'm sure they get more than their fair share of insults thrown their way.
  3. I don't like this. Is this somehow supposed to influence Putin? or cause a backlash against Putin from the citizens? give me a break. all this does is punish the innocent citizens, who play and enjoy the sport. Leave the Politics to the governments
  4. in canada it has, but not the entire world. The Continuing Rise in Hockey Popularity Worldwide – Five Reasons Sports Network Why Ice Hockey Is Gaining Popularity Around The World – SilverSkateFestival
  5. oh, my bad. Detroit had 3 first round picks in ten years before they won their cup in 2008.
  6. yes... but you also have to assume that minor hockey is growing at a similar pace to the NHL
  7. St. Louis, Washington,Los Angeles, Bruins, Red Wings,Ducks, Didn't. 7/16 didn't
  8. I checked some advanced stats and both are rated very high in GAR EP 22.8 ranked 3rd in the NHL QH 19.9 Ranked 9th in the NHL but first of all defenceman. so edge does to Petey. our 3rd highest player has never played a game for us... Filip Hronek, Ranked 22nd overall and 4th for defenceman.
  9. schnieder was so good. better than Luongo, its too bad he played in Lu's shadow and then the whole kesler thing and the Injuries. he was top 3 IMO
  10. i would say Hughes just because his contract is so nice.
  11. The fact you posted on a empty page only further proves my theory. Mods are from a alternate universe from a timeline in the future, breaking the 4th dimension posting here. But why you ask? It's obvious the canucks won the cup in their timeline and the result shook their world. It's so obvious when you think about it. do you ever notice how they are always encouraging us to be happy with marginal results? "oh well, another loss at least we played hard." Cheering on the team when playoffs are out of reach, i could go on and on. Quick! reply to this message before its removed from the site! everyone must know! Do it now! Take the red pill!
  12. his play is scaring me this season, it has been slightly better as of late but for the amount of flack we got for trading for AB, i find that AB is out playing him. he has two plays when rushing up the ice. Try to beat the D on the outside, fail, quickly turn around and pass. and dump the puck. a top 6 forward making that type of money should do better. He can stick handle but he is usually too slow and not agile enough to beat most defenders. He is also not confident with his shot at all, everyone knows he is going to pass first. And his actual shot is not dangerous anymore, I honestly cant remember the last time he cleanly beat a goaltender with his wrister. He is just a little too slow to be a good defender, so when he turns over the puck you just know the other team is going to have a scoring chance the other way.
  13. I came in here expecting to see Boeser skinner and marner, but the list is good.
  14. next year we are contenders... Jim Benning and JR said so!
  15. I seperated the forwards from the defence because I just think they should be separated. and honestly know nothing before the 80's in terms of defenceman, so i would be REALLY Guessing with my list. I think it would be fun to make a all generation team for each decade. 12 forwards 6D and two goalies. BTW i do like history of the NHL... one of my favorite things is to read up on crazy enforcers from the late 60's and 70's... I think the war really screwed up some families and boy some of the players were insane.
  16. there is a new rule that SHL players cant come over to play in the AHL till there like 24 or something... also, I would never ask a kid to step out of college, to play in the AHL. That's just trashy.
  17. You cant be a homer, you have to look at it from all angles. take a look at my post earlier and really try to answer all my questions... you wont im guessing... anyways... scoring after the rule changes went down... the reason there was a sudden boost was because temporarily the league had a heightened PPO. Zubov scored his 71 when PPO were at a league all time high of 5.82 and sakic was the only 37 year old to ever score over 100 points (I was wrong), But PPO were still rock high at 4.82 PPG ... I dont want to look at the stats but likely any other "healthy" 37 year old star had PPO of 4.82 and goal scoring was as high as 1995/1996... so just throw out random stats and ill tell you why they are inflated. Edit: Godie howe did this feat in 1968 103 points and 84 points in 72 games in 1967. and what happened in 1967? they doubled the league size. 1966 howe put up 65 points and the last time he scored over 82 was 1962 (which would have been a 100 point season if it was a 82g schedule)
  18. well thats not true... 60 of his 131 points are PP points. i think you mixed up the numbers. Mcdavid is a god of powerplay almost as good as Lemieux who wat the GOAT of PP. Lemieux put up what 40% of his points from the powerplay? he had 4 seasons with where he put up over half his points on the PP. McDavid is not quite there yet. he only has put up 34% of his points from the powerplay. I can only imagine how many points he would have though if he played if he got to play when there was so many PPO... checking McDavid vs Lemeuix. it was 3 PPO per game vs 5 PPO game. if you just 1.4* all of McDavids PPP that would be pretty sick. if McDavid had 1.4* on the PP and 7% less points EV he would have had some pretty nutty years. instead of 535 EV he would have 495. instead of 278 PP he would have 389 Instead of 15 SH points he would have 21 instead he 828 career points he would have 905 that would put him at 1.63 P/PG instead of 131 points he would have 153 points in 69 games.. or about 2.21 P/PG which would rank 11th in P/PG and 15th all time if McDavid had one crazy year like 87/88 where there was 5.48 PPO he would have 173P in 69 games. or about 2.5 P/PG its crazy to think you actually think the players of today are advantaged vs the 80's... once they start scoring more than them i will agree. it wasnt like the players in the 50's and 60's sucked and phil esposito and bobby orr were placed down from heaven. expansion matters and this was the root of the massive explosion from 1967 to 1979 where they went from 6-21 teams and goal scoring skyrocketed. 1967 to 1979 the went form 6 to 21 teams... they went 3.5x bigger in 12 years... 1967 G/PG 2.79 1979 G/PG 3.5 G/PG 1980-1990 there was no expansion... they went from 1980 G/PG 3.84 to 1990 G/PG 3.46 91- 93 22-26 from this years they went over 25% bigger in 2 more years... 3.46 G/PG to 3.63 G/PG 98-2000 27-30 they went 15% bigger in 7 years and 2.64G/PG to 2.76 G/PG 2000-2023 30-32 teams. they went 7% bigger in 23 years... 2.76 G/PG 3.18G/PG (wow look what the rule changes did to increase scoring SMH. End sarcasm) some advantages the 80's and 90's had, because of the expansion. poor goaltending sv% dropped from 1967 .907 to 1979 .882% (thats a goal per game with 30 shots average) no defensive systems in place. PK dropped from 1967 - 1979 82% to 78% (bad coaching?) PPO this is a massive one, and evidence of its effect is shown very conclusively from past and present teams. 1979 to 1987 they went from about 3.5 PPO to 5 PPO 1987 and it stayed about 5 PPO to about 1995/1996... The NHL Did the goaltenders dirty and just threw them under the bus. The Nhl has been about at roughly just under 3 PPO since McDavid entered the league. And the bottom line is its hilarious to think that modern players had an advantage when no modern league has ever outscored teams from the 80's and early 90's... Where are the goals? what advantage? if you can answer just these 2 questions i will be satisfied.
