  1. Michkov at 8 is bold, but I understand the logic. If Michkov is available to Montreal, I don't see how they pass that up. They have the 17th pick as well to land a solid prospect. And if Montreal skips, the same goes for Arizona. I'd take the chance, especially if I had another top 20 pick in this years draft.
  2. Here's a nice breakdown of his performance. I hope he can continue this into the next round because I could watch him play all day.
  3. BPA all day, whomever our scouting staff deems that to be. Personally I would draft Leonard and Sale ahead of Moore, Danielson, Reinbacher and. ASP if they were all still on the board at 11, but I'm just an arm chair video scout, so what do I know.
  4. I enjoyed The X-Files in it's episodic monster of the week style, but found it lost it's charm when they tried to tell an over arching story. I think I might have watched the first 3 or 4 seasons, but lost interest after that.
  5. Cole Eiserman also stepped up again, tallying twice in the first period for the Americans. The 16-year-old phenom leads these U18 Worlds with eight goals. The single-tournament record of 14 goals is shared by Alexander Ovechkin (2002) and Cole Caufield (2019).
  6. https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2023/wm18/news/43860/sui-usa Muse praised Leonard: "That's who he is. Ryan Leonard doesn't take days off. I haven't seen it once in two years. So I'm not expecting to see it any time soon. He's always going, every single game, every single practice. He's playing like it's playoff hockey for him all the time."
  7. Pittsburgh need to protect players so they trade him to Toronto and then Toronto left him exposed during the Seattle expansion draft, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's up there with the Neely trade. But I get your point. It always sucks to see a player we draft have success elsewhere, but good on McCann for finding his game and getting paid for it. I hope his injury isn't too bad and he can come back and lead the Kraken to the finals... then we'll bring up Neely again
  8. Say you're the Blues at pick 25 or 27 and Cristall is still on the board, would you draft him knowing you've already picked a great player with the 10th pick? Does he even drop that far?
  9. As good as Sandin-Pellikka has been, I'm not sure if it's enough to really move him up the Central Scouting Euro rankings. Maybe he moves past Stenberg, but he's having a good showing as well. I see Sale as a potential dropper, and I don't think ASP gets drafted ahead of Dvorsky. Perreault is the 10th ranked North American skater. I can see him moving ahead of Honzek, but the guys ahead of him haven't really shown any reason to drop.
  10. I've been a big fan of Leonard and Dvorsky, so I put them in a tier of their own. I would lean towards Leonard because of personal bias, but would be very happy with the DD. Tier 1 Leonard Dvorsky ------------------------------ Sandin-Pellikka Danielson Moore Perreault Barlow Cristall
  11. He's only 17 on a team that averages around 25 years old, and is being used in all situations. I really like Dvorsky's potential. Put him on a good team with a clear development path and he'll be a serviceable middle 6 shutdown centerman. The question now is does Dvorsky playing against older competition trump, say Danielson playing against his peers. Danielson probably has better offensive potential which could translate to 2nd line potential. They're both around 6'1" with Dvorsky listed as being around 15 lbs heavier. I really like Danielson as well, so I don't know where I would stand if it came down to Dvorsky and Danielson as BPA.
  12. I watched an interview with Dvorsky where he was asked what he wanted to work on, and without hesitation mentioned his defensive game. I think he see's himself as a 200ft defensive minded center with the abiility for some offense at the NHL level. He was a team worst -19 this season for a bad AIK team in the Allsvensken which could explain his answer.
  13. I just realized that I've probably scouted more names from this draft class than the last 10 drafts combined. Lol It's becoming one of my favourite Hockey hobbies and I'm truly grateful to everyone sharing their opinions and knowledge of the players and their games. As someone who doesn't have the body or mind to keep up anymore, living vicariously through these amazing talented young men has really ignited my passion for Hockey again in what was an otherwise forgettable season.
  14. I've only seen a handful of game clips, but maybe that's why Wood has risen in the rankings? Still needs to work on his skating and foot speed, but the size is definitely there, and you can see his potential in his stick handling and puck control if he can process the game a little faster.
  15. I highlighted all that I agree with. Although, as much as Sale can be disappointing at times, he's a much better option than Cristall if you're looking for a player with potential to be an elite winger, because he has more to his game than just flash.
  16. I haven't watched any games but how does Stenberg look? His listed as a forward, so I'm not sure if he projects as a center at the NHL level. He had a big game vs Canada yesterday.
  17. I used the NA and European Central Scouting rankings for their top 10 players each to make a top 20. It was more difficult than I expected. https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2023/nhl-central-scouting/eu https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2023/nhl-central-scouting/na My method was to match the top ranked player in each section and move down the list. Carlsson v Bedard. I picked Bedard as 1st, so the second pick option is Carlsson v Fantilli. I picked Fantilli. Then, Carlsson over Smith. Michkov over Smith. Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Smith as the top 5 is a consensus opinion by most. 1. Bedard over Carlsson 2. Fantilli over Carlsson 3. Carlsson over Smith 4. Michkov over Smith 5. Smith over Dvorsky ------------------------------------- 6. Dvorsky over Wood 7. Sale over Wood 8. Wood over Reinbacher - This is where it got difficult for me because I don't have Wood ranked so high. 9. Leonard over Reinbacher 10. Benson over Reinbacher 11.Reinbacher over Danielson 12. Stenberg over Danielson - I've recently been scouting some videos and I'm liking his potential as a physical middle 6 forward. 13. Sandin- Pellikka over Danielson 14. Danielson over Hameenaho 15. Moore over Hameenaho 16. Honzek over Hameenaho 17. Hameenho over Perreaul 18. Perreault over But 19. But 20. Gulyayev This isn't how I think it will play out personally, but it was an interesting experiment by limiting who I got to select for each pick.
  18. There is a lot to like about Johansson. He's only 23 with almost 200 games of SHL experience. He had a big jump in regular season offensive production and put up 9 pts in 12 playoff games this season. I'm rating him pretty highly as well. I'm looking forward to seeing his game develop with Abby for this playoff run. It should shed some light on his potential to earn a spot next season.
  19. That's not including guys like Leonard, Barlow, or Cristall. Safe to say, even if we pick 13th for some unlucky freakin' reason, we're getting a good one.
  20. Arizona is better off drafting BPA between Smith and Benson.. maybe Michkov, and with Reinbacher shooting up the ranks, who knows where he places. I think 6 is too high for Moore, and while I believe he should be in the conversation in the 8-10 range, I think there's too much offensive potential ahead of him that would make passing up on a guy like Sale or Cristall hard for some teams despite some of their deficiencies.
  21. Personally, I have Gulyayev ahead of Simashev. They both have great mobility and stick handling and would benefit from a defensive structure that utilizes their ability to break out of the zone. They both seem to hang on to the puck for too long at times which can make promising plays turn into nothing, but the skills are there for them to develop into NHL quality puck moving defensemen with Gulyayev having more offensive potential to Simashev's defensive potential. This is just my opinion on some game video's I've watched. I think they should be mid to late first round picks, but the Russian factor could see them slide.
  22. I think your first 3 tiers will make up the top 9 with ASP possibly cracking the top 10. After that the Canucks should be picking BPA from one of Dvorsky, Moore, Sale, Cristall, or any other late risers. I can see a handful of defensemen gaining a little more draft value as well if Reinbacher and ASP are gone early, with Danielson and Honzek probably picked in the 15-20 range.
  23. The one thing I can remember from some videos I watched a while ago was how much Perreault's playmaking and Leonard's hustle benefited Smith in transition and on the forecheck, with how Smith reads the game.
  24. I have an idea, but not sure how feasible it is. Have the 3 worst teams play each other Memorial Cup style. The Winner gets the best odds or just wins the 1st pick outright. Have the next set of 3 worst teams do the same. Winner gets second best odds or just wins the 2nd pick outright. Maybe a 3rd set for the 3rd overall pick? The losers in the 1st overall tier ends up with the 4 and 5th best odds/pick. 2nd tier losers get 6th and 7th odds/pick. 3rd tier losers get 8th and 9th odds/pick. Finishing 10th guarantees the 10th best odds/pick. The curreny standings would see the tiers set up like this. 1st. CBJ v CHI v ANA 2nd. SJ v MTL v ARI 3rd. PHI v VAN v WASH 3 venues could be selected for each tier prior to the season for the Draft Lottery Tournament. So maybe not exactly as I suggested, but its based around if teams want to tank for the bottom 3, then you better be good enough to win the 1st pick/odds or you drop out of the top 3 picks/odds.
