  1. While it's true that the lower ranked players weren't as good then, it's also true that the higher ranked players aren't as much of a threat in this era. Borg went into most tournaments with the prospect of beating the likes of McEnroe, Connors, Nastase and Ashe for the championship. I don't believe that Federer or Sampras has had the same level of competition on a regular basis.
  2. RF is one of the all-time greats, but Bjorn Borg is the greatest of all time.
  3. Seeing Williams ousted almost makes up for Ivanovic and Sharapova being out of the tournament. With her and Venus being gone, I could happily see anyone win on the women's side. My money is on Safina.
  4. It was sarcasm Deb. Just a subtle little dig at Clutch. (if he's around) Maybe too subtle?
  5. I was hoping we could hit 100 pages before the playoffs were over, but we failed miserably. Just like Burrows.
  6. Not sure why you would expect this to be locked. Yes, there are some shots being taken at Clutch, but to my knowledge no-one has brought his mom or sister into the conversation, so you can't argue personal attacks. Nobody has posted any porn, although I daresay that Clutch probably feels a little naked right now. I suppose you could say the thread lacks substance, but I'm pretty sure this would be the first 82 page substance lacking thread in the history of this board. Onward and upward, says I.
  7. That's the spirit. Keep 'em coming guys!
  8. You know, I was ready to let this thread go, as I really couldn't think of much to add to it anymore. But now at 80 pages and counting, I think we should shoot for 100. Think of the bragging rights for Clutchy. He can claim to have made a statement so abysmally stupid that it kept the mockery of said statement alive for 100 pages! That's something to tell your grandchildren about. Now I know another 20 pages in the short time left in the season is a tall order. It's going to require that people lower their standards a bit. (I somehow managed to type that with a straight face) There will need to be several substanceless posts, eg. "Clutch = Fail", etc., maybe some finger pointing (Nelson's HA HA! is always a nice touch), and anything else that we can come up with. If anyplace can come up with 20 pages of nothing, I say it's us! So come on CDC, let's hit 100 pages just to show Clutch that we're thinking of him. Damn the flood control!
  9. No kidding. He should at least be scrapping with his teammates like Kes and Juice. Hopefully he's at least been asking around the dressing room as to how everyone's sister is.
  10. Because in the court of public opinion, you're guilty until proven innocent. Or in this case, you're Clutch until you make an intelligent post. Because we all know that the two are mutually exclusive.
  11. You do have to admit that Clutch knows "embarassing" like virtually no-one else.
  12. You know, I can't remember. But it was obviously stupid enough to get the thread deleted.
  13. Not anymore. http://forum.canucks.com/index.php?showtopic=227764
  14. You know, this thread reminds me of the time my wife saw this clutch that she really wanted. I clutched my wallet and headed down to the department store. Unfortunately the clutch in my car gave out halfway there. So, I phoned my wife and told her that I couldn't get the clutch for her. She replied that if I wanted her to clutch me ever again, that I would get her that clutch. So, in the clutches of a dilemma, I decided to walk to the store to buy the clutch. A few miles (and a few hours) later, I emerged from the store triumphantly clutching the clutch. It just goes to show that with Alex Burrows type determination, anyone can come through in the clutch.
  15. Let this be a lesson to you kids, create a thread where you really put your foot in it, and someone will always be around to remind you about it whenever the subject of your thread does something to prove you wrong. All of you who started moronic threads during the losing streak: This could be you!
  16. Pretty lousy form by the Serbs from what I saw. They need to hire Bobby Knight if they want to get any distance with those chairs.
  17. Although they are both great players, I have a hard time getting into tennis these days. I used to be a big fan back in the Connors, McEnroe & Borg era. I liked the fact that there seemed to be some actual animosity between the players (Although being part of The Borg, Bjorn never let it show ) Tennis in those days even had their own Sean Avery, (no, not McEnroe) a guy named Ilie "Nasty" Nastase. Players today are just too nice.
  18. My favorite tribute to those who gave their lives is a song called The Green Fields of France, also known as the Ballad of Wille McBride. This particular version features the great Irish tenor, Ronan Tynan. It always hits home.
  19. I didn't see this thread yesterday. This morning I'm browsing Canucks Talk and I see it and think "Wow! Someone's going to look stupid". I think CDC needs a new Clutch.
  20. Darren Pang. And Chris Levesque is correct Canuck Champs.
  21. You are correct sir! (No points deducted for the misspelling of "Andrei")
  22. I know I'm kind of jumping the queue here but try this one: I have kind of a cryptic hint as well: Tennis
