  1. The media should ask if it's possible to just assign him to Abby to start the season because it's obviously not clear. It's kind of a big deal for planning the roster.
  2. Not if he starts the year in Abby. So do just that unless he outright crushes the competition, and forces the team to waive someone.
  3. Let's hope not. He should start on their first line getting like 20mins a game. At the deadline, or when injuries or other trades mean there's a gap in the forwards, he gets brought up for good. Think of it as him having tons and tons of skating to get ready for a playoff push.
  4. I think the internet has confirmed that. So basically one game risk. Someone has to be out for the year, or he has to perform a miracle to make the team outright, or someone does a Sami Salo and gets a snake bite and is out for the season, or whatever, then he is in. But stay down....
  5. That's the spirit Keep on trucking\!| It's the path to the stanlley cup. Pay attention ownerswhip.
  6. How are you going to move either when nobody has cap space, nobody wants small players, and nobody is making trades anyways? You might be lucks to ditch one with cap retention for a 6th if you sweeten the pot from one of the few teams with cap space that will only give it up if you sweeten the pot for them..... Now, suffer with them through the year, put everyone that you CAN put in Abby in Abby, and when injuries come, then you can bring up the better, getting lots of ice time, young guys. When the deadline rolls around, and other teams that are contending are looking to fill holes, perhaps one that has great d but has lost a lot of forwards, might be open to taking one of them (likely Beaulivier) and might actually give us something in return for him. Of course, either can get outright beat by a young player with a lot more on the line, and then you just press box one of them until someone takes 'em off your hands. The summer has been nice and responsible let's keep it this way.
  7. Yup, aka what we gots lol! No calling up Hoglander unless there's a season ending injuries. Trade Beaulivier and Myers at the deadline. If Hronek don't sign a nice deal consider him too. End of year do like last year and get the young guys in for the playoff push. With any luck with all the development and training and ice time in Abby, the people that replace the outgoing ones are at least linear, and cheaper, replacements. Addition by subtraction, when the subtraction gets you something in return. That is not rebuilding it's retooling. If the year is a complete wreck (imagine one with Petey, Demko, and Hughes injured early in the season) then you trade Cole at the deadline too. Even if the year is a miracle and we are kicking butt at the deadline, still bring in some fresh blood with the Myers and Beaulivier trades. That's a retool.
  8. I mean, if someone comes looking for say Garland or even Boeser, and say they offer SOMETHING, and don't won't retention, then sure. But that's not going to happen. And yes, we should trade Myers, but not yet... We need him for the season. We need the defensive depth. Let the young players get tons of ice time in Abby. Injuries this season will provide the cap space. And then, assuming things are about as they are now, trade Myers at the DEADLINE, for actually picks and prospects. Max retention, almost no actual cash, what team with dreams of a long cap run doesn't want another big defensemen for like no cap hit or cash involved? We will be able to get SOMETHING for him..... But but but the playoffs? IMHO this is the best way to make the playoffs........ Put (if they are still on the team) Hoglander and Rathbone in Abby to start the year. They play and play and play. They only come up if someone goes down for the year then we sink or swim with them. Unless they are getting beat out by others in Abbby. By the time the deadline comes along, I think someone in Abby will be worthy of a promotion that makes Myers redundant. Sure, we might make the playoffs, but we aren't going far, it's not time to push all the chips in yet. As long as the team is always improving you will start seeing playoffs year after year.
  9. Your right in general in that the BCLDB does keep inflation in check in that they do some price fixing which can be good or bad depending on what side of the aisle you on and how it is done. But I do notice that in Alberta and Washington state, in both places, beer is cheaper, easier to get, and there's more variety, including a better selection of BC beer and wine lol! But on the flip side I haven't looked lately, and now the price situation might be much different due to the controls you mention above. I just like to lol about the hypocrisy about "greed" and "gouging" that happens on here, since it's so dependent on which side of the counter you are on. I bet everyone here drools at the thought of getting bargain basement prices when a company or store or local seller of things is going out of sale so they can load up on the cheap, with no consideration of those that own the business and their future. But if they MAKE money, they are evil. And if we don't want to GIVE the government increasing taxes on like everything, then the people that complain that do most of the paying are GREEDY, even though lots of the people asking for tax dollars don't contribute it, ya know, because they uh..... I think I still get triggered having grown up around too many welfare bums.....
  10. This year at camp. Next year in Abby. Following year taking turns on the big team. Following year on the big team. Following year pushing for the top four. Dare to dream.
  11. Wow imagine having an up and coming PK unit working in Abby developing into a future actual good penalty kill with the option if a pker on the big team gets hurt that's there's people who are good at it in Abby to fill in? Perish the thought! That Josh Bloom is embracing that idea in development camp? Can it be, something actually encouraging?!?
  12. In BC at least everything, and I mean EVERTYTHING goes through the BC Liquor Distribution Branch. Government stores, beer and wine, all of it. Only exception is tasting rooms. Which goes through the same process as retail and unlike say a farmers market or specialty store that CAN carry what it wants that can't happen here. This has the effect of often making it easier to get beer from Alberta or the USA than locally made BC product. IF the BCLDB doesn't want to carry the product, BC can't get it unless they know about it and go to the source. It's the worst of both works. I guess this hidden layer or price gouging (above and beyond the grift at the government stores and the super grift of super high "sin" taxes) goes to the government so it doesn't count at "greed".......
  13. I take it back Vintage works in the NHL front office lol. Maybe TSN and sportsnet should come here for breaking news. It seems to work for me lol.
  14. Reason number one to not complain about ahl signings.....
  15. As ronthecivil would say, Button must not have seen last year where we cornered the market on AHL defensemen, up and down the lineup! Is Button right? Ya kind of, in a worst case scenario kind of way. It's still an improvement though! What's most important, is if they ae as long no more MEH in five on five (can't be worse) than the crew last year, at least a lot of them have PK experience. If the PK is at least MEH, put it all together, it's a giant improvement!
  16. More peeps to compete in camp. Should actually be fun this year.
  17. Well if there (when there is) injuries they will get a chance. Or they can outright win the spot in training camp. Ya know, how it should be?
  18. Not being a giant anchor contract it's not as big a deal there's a NTC. Odd are were not going to WANT to trade him.
  19. I dunno, after seeing OEL and the rotating wheel of AHLers in the top four, it's not going to be hard to look like an improvement.
  20. I know right! Please, any more signings, be like this! Really, with the way they have been developing players, shouldn't need more stop gaps and this way the team can be decent while we wait. An acceptable comprimise.
  21. Well proof vintage is cahoots with the front office lol! No long terms, no big dollars, no alarm bells from me!
  22. Lol ya Florida My bad. Trying to bring him back will make the difference between barely making the playoffs last year and not making they this year. As in giving him significant minutes is a sure fire way to NOT make the playoffs. Even with the cap hit of the buyout, it's really no much of a difference that I had when I just wanted to bench him a year. Either way it's addition by subtraction for the Canucks. He is THAT bad. Seriously, the AHLers out played him.
  23. As someone who had season tickets where I would see OEL all the time with when on defense on my side I can tell you that OEL has negative value. He doesn't stop anyone. Pucks go right through him. He doesn't win puck battles. Hell, I don't think he engages in them. He has negative value as a defenseman. Sucks to be you Tampa. Well, for this one lol.
