Jake is the classic example of the player who is just happy to be in the NHL, so he can party like a rock star. So much potential wasted because he never had the work ethic or desire to improve his game. Not sure if this will be his wake up call or not.

Maybe its more indicative of the person involved being real with what happened, has been going through counseling has obligations in public speaking and making things right. Maybe just maybe cancel culture won't win this one and an organization has publicly recognized the person's faults and is willing to work with the individual. Opposite of classless.

Why did Edmonton pass on a goalie? A position they clearly need for the future?
They will keep re-signing Mike Smith until he's 50.

Indefensible pick! Exhibit A of "hockey culture." There's no getting around it when people try to defend hockey culture as they can always point to this pick now. Just shameful and classless by Montreal!

Did we ever find out what was wrong with Drouin? Smacks of substance abuse issue especially with his inconsistencies.
not trying to generate rumours, just curious.Nope. I assumed he was stepping away for his mental health due to receiving so much hate from Montreal fans because he hasn't lived up to his draft pedigree.

Boy we still need Petey and Hughes signed too. Time to trade schmidt for a draft pick and have Jett Woo take his spot cause we need some elc players!

I think they should take Price. It's a bad contract, but they can make him the face of the franchise like vegas did with Fleury and make up a lot of value in tickets and merchandise sales. They should also take a flyer on tarasenko since there's only 2 years left on that deal. Giordano is a no brainer with only 1 year left too. Gourde should be the tampa pick. Lots of intriguing names on this list compared to the list vegas chose from. I'll be very interested too see which underperforming big name contracts they choose to take.

I was set to put up $50 on a betting site, but they want photo id etc., don't know how long it takes ...so meh....
Sports Interaction. Funny thing is, that odds for a Tampa, game 7, 4-3 games win are MORE than the odds for a Montreal game 7, 4-3 games win. I can only surmise that they figure IF Montreal managed to tie the series, the momentum would be in their favour? Am I reading that right?

Betting $50 on a Tampa game seven win will get you about $1000
But betting $50 on a Montreal game seven win will only get you $750
I'd make that bet on Tampa to win in seven.
Yeah, sites want photo id. I bet on Pinnacle many years ago and had to scan my driver's license to them. Forgot how long it took to get set up. However, I didn't gamble for long cause I wasn't good at it, lol!

I don't make sports bets, so not sure how it all works. But I think I'm reading that BoDog has the series win for Montreal now @ +1700.
https://www.bodog.eu/sports/hockey
Now's the time to lay it on the line! Retirement here I come!
Do it! Montreal is +1700 and Tampa is -5000 to win the series.
What this means is, if you bet $100 on Montreal, then you win $1700. If you bet on Tampa, you need to bet $5000 to win $100.

Pretty great result with the habs beating vegas and then getting swept in the finals! Only way it could have been better if it was the Islanders winning instead of Tampa!

Man, I wish the Islanders played with more desperation. This was a great chance for them to win a cup against Montreal.

I love burrows, but I don't love obnoxious Montreal fans gloating about a cup win! I'm not into the whole bring the cup back to Canada unless it's the canucks, winnipeg or ottawa. Go Tampa!!!

Another article out today about it. Despicable by blackhawks management to ignore Vincent's request to report it to the police. I saw someone comment doubting the story thinking it was a money grab, but there's too many people saying it did happen for that to be the case.
Quote“Every guy on the team knew about it,” one player on the 2010 team told The Athletic. “Every single guy on the team knew.”
Another player on that 2010 Chicago team, Nick Boynton, said Vincent made it clear to players during the San Jose series that he would alert upper management about the allegations. Boynton said players trusted that Vincent would handle the matter appropriately given his background — he was previously in law enforcement — and Boynton believes Vincent’s account that he told his superiors that they needed to go to police. “I trust (Vincent) over the front office,” Boynton said. “He’s a stand-up guy.”
But in San Jose, the players watched as Aldrich continued his duties as video coach, for the two games in San Jose, the two back in Chicago, and the six games of the Stanley Cup Final.

A pipe dream since he would cost too much and we can't afford his next contract, but he would score 50 with petey easy. The jets have mismanaged him so badly and I hope he gets traded to a team that treats him better. They got so lucky in that lottery draft and they just bungled the handling of Laine since.
This is a different situation than trouba who wanted out for family reasons. Laine would have been content to stay in Winnipeg if they handled things like his ice time and giving him consistent top line minutes more. Winnipeg has no one to blame but themselves for this situation and isn't a situation of a player not wanting to play in Winnipeg. He wants out for legit hockey reasons.

Wow that's a great pickup for them!

Bergevin has also shown he’s not afraid to bury a non performing player in the minors (Alzner). I don’t blame Gallagher for going for a NMC
Yup. With Gallagher only having a 6 team ntc, that's barely a ntc, so Montreal won't have problems finding a team to trade him to, so this looks more like a don't bury me in the ahl protection.

Thanks, but I've never seen "no move" used this way before, only as something that added those conditions onto "no trade". Anyway, no point in an extended semantic discussion.
Gallagher paid attention to Tyler Johnson who has a ntc, but not a nmc, so Tampa waived him to circumvent his ntc. Montreal can't do that to Gallagher now.

I guess a trade no longer counts as a move, and I have no understanding of the English language any more. What the hell does this even mean?
No movement clause means you can't be exposed in expansion draft or sent to ahl.

Dodged a bullet there! I was afraid Benning would trade for him! I'm not a Gallagher fan at all.

Fook Vegas. I hope other players take notice they have absolutely no loyalty. Fired gallant early. Stabbed fleury in the back. Shipped out statsny after signing him as a Ufa. Now other players like pacioretty who they also just signed is on the trade block. Sign with them at your own risk because they will trade you in a hot minute for the next shiny new toy!

I bet you markstrom will win a Vezina in Calgary.
I don't get the people saying the Markstrom contract sucks. Look at the contracts of other #1s in the league, Markstrom at 6 million is a damn good deal.
I think the Markstrom contract is fine, but Demko has always been our goalie of the future, so I was fine letting Marky go because his cap hit hurts for the future petey and hughes contracts. If we had no Demko, I'd sign Marky to that deal in a second.

Look on the bright side, we still have our 1st round pick next year! Too bad I hear it's a weak draft unlike this year. I'm all for letting the kids play next year for the NHL experience. Give me Hoglander, Juolevi and Rathbone! Sometimes you have to take 1 step back and 2 steps forward!

I know he wasn't fully healed during the playoffs, but maybe the canucks are holding it against him for being a ghost after game 1 in the vegas series. I don't necessarily mind letting him go cause it frees up a top 6 spot for hoglander! I'd love to see him play with Petey next season.
[Offer Sheet] Hurricanes offer sheet Jesperi Kotkaniemi

Hilarious revenge! However, the funny thing is Montreal did a the canes a favour with that Aho offer sheet because it was such a good deal people were scratching their heads why they offered a fair value contract and didn't expect carolina to match, so it was a waste of time. Aho is underpaid now with that contract.
