  1. What an absolute beast Panarin is! Up to 3rd in nhl scoring now with 67 points. I knew the canucks had no shot at him and was mad he went to the rangers instead of the islanders. The islanders would be cup contenders with him as they need more offense. He's a legit hart trophy candidate.

Yuck at everyone voting for hughes.

Would you want to play in the all star game (once)?

    Obviously.

Would you like to get voted in your first time like you got some kind of participation ribbon, “because you showed up to every practice and were a good sport and had social media vote you in”?

Or would you play harder next year, so there is no question whether or not you deserve to be there?

    Misguided good will. Disgusting.

    John Scott says hello.

    You should be ashamed.

Except Hughes should already be there on merit over Giordano, so we're just fixing an injustice! It would be disgusting to sit idly by and do nothing to right this wrong! Vote for Hughes!

  3. I'm not sweating these losses because this is a very good draft year, so if we get one more top pick before we have to go all out to make the playoffs in 2021, then so be it. Could be a blessing in disguise to get another stud from this year's draft. I mean it should be evident now that we don't have enough talent still and the rebuild isn't over yet.

Hopefully this puts to rest the idea Demko is a bonafide starter right now. I love the guy, but he needs some seasoning still. Stole a point at least. Lets try survive this roadie here.

I mean this was his first bad game and he's been Vezina worthy all season. If you want to go off one bad game then Markstrom isn't a bonafide number 1 after the Washington game and others. Demko has outplayed markstrom this year. I'd like to see the goalie duties more evenly split and look to if markstrom can be traded at the deadline because it makes no sense to sign him to a big long term deal with petey and Hughes needing big contracts soon.

Pettersson won’t win the Hart this year, but he’ll continue to be a rock solid PPG player.   I can definitely see Hughes winning the Calder though.

If the canucks make the playoffs and Pettersson has 100+ points, he's winning the hart. His main competition at that point would be if Edmonton made the playoffs and McDavid has more points because voters have been wanting to give McDavid the hart for years, but couldn't due to the Oilers missing the playoffs. Edmonton's winning isn't sustainable though and I see them fading.

We weren't really tanking though. We were just a bad team. I think they tried to win and it showed with signings like Eriksson etc.

The circle of life in the NHL.

Oh yeah, they weren't purposely tanking and trying to lose. I just like to use the word tanking as an all encompassing word meaning the goal is high draft picks to build a new core around.  Without Pettersson, none of this would be possible right now.  There would be no Miller trade or anything because we wouldn't be close to a playoff team without having Pettersson in place first to accelerate the rebuild.

  7. Pettersson is going to win the Hart and Hugues is going to win the calder!  This is the most fun this team has been to watch in forever!  Really happy that the tanking was worth it and works as Pettersson and Hugues are absolute studs!  Some anti tankers will probably still not admit that the tanking was great, but the proof is in the pudding with Pettersson who is the crown jewel of our tanking years! They could not see that the short term pain of losing was worth it for the high draft picks, but now we're seeing it all come together.  Playoffs are a lock this year!

The west is wide open with no real dominant team anymore, unless you want to label the avs as one and maybe vegas. I know we've had the easiest schedule in the leauge so far, but things look different this year and the team looks for real! Time for tank nation to rejoice! :towel::emot-parrot:

Had to miss the game, was at a concert. I PVRd it though, is it worth watching? No goals, 0 for 6 on the PP. On paper, I think this team should be scoring in bunches and physically dominating other teams. Season hasn't started out that way. Is it a coaching issue?

Only the 3rd period. Watch the first two if you're having trouble falling asleep!

  9. Quinn on the 1st pp unit please! There's no point in trying to balance both pp units if the result is both units suck. Most teams load up pp 1 and play it for the majority of the time, while the 2nd unit gets scraps. Put Hughes and horvat back on pp 1!

Ferland needs to start hitting people!  I can handle the losses, but I just want the game to be exciting. Coming off the habs/leafs game, this game was a real snoozefest in comparison. Just give me some exciting scoring chances please!

  10. The problem with Jake is he has the Shane O'Brien mentality of just loving to party too much.  O'Brien admitted on spittin chiclets that he cared more about partying than hockey to start and it probably cost him a bit.  However, the difference is even if O'Brien was more dedicated to hockey, he'd still be Shane O'Brien and a 3rd pairing guy.  Jake has so much more potential if he just dedicated himself to hockey and getting better more.  Imagine if he was like crosby and was working on making himself better every summer instead of partying.

    Okay, conspiracy theory

CAR and MTL are working together. MTL offer-sheeted Aho, at a low amount. MTL wasn't serious about signing Aho, because the salary was too low. They basically did the negotiating for CAR, and now CAR will sign Aho cheaper than expected. Maybe when it's time to sign Kotkaniemi, CAR will offer sheet Kot less than expected to help MTL out.

    Ridiculous? lol (probably)

Kotkaniemi would have to sign a low ball offer sheet, which he shouldn't have reason to.

TBH I never heard of the guy.  But if he’s a top six playmaking winger, he’d be perfect with Bo.

Gaudette for the guy’s rights?  Too much?

He did very well in the KHL. He played on a stacked SKA team, but people say he was far and away their best player. He had 16 points in the world championship this year, which tied him with kucherov.

Word is he's looking for 4m, which is not outlandish and worth the risk. He's more playmaker than goal scorer and I'd take him with horvat over, sven, leivo or Pearson. He's worth the gamble, but it depends what Vegas wants. They already screwed their last Russian, so might be screwing another Russian by asking for too much in a trade and killing his NHL dream. The concern is size, but it's the new NHL where smaller guys are succeeding.
