i'm not an atheist. 30 years ago I was drinking the koolaid. I just don't beleive that there is any real reason for people to tie themselves to any one religion. It is of no value or importance to me. If your religion is as you describe it, it is extremely rare. I just don't believe that you're able to be truly objective from the inside. No offence I suppose.

Unless your religion teaches you that all the others are wrong and that your views represent the only truth, and your understanding of God is the only truth and that your God is the one true God. And they all do. And if you think yours doesn't you've been misled at best and you're delsuional at worst. Your admission that baptism is the ultimate goal of adherents is all the proof I need. Once you're baptised you've been put into the harness of your religion that will now dictate how you live and your beliefs and perceptions must all be colored by you particular theological bent.

I had a religous friend years ago that took his even more religous immigrant father to Drumheller. As they looked at the skeleton of a large dinosaur the father remarked, "they have a machine in the back that makes these bones". Don't ever argue with stupid, it's a losing propotion.

I think one of the big knocks against AV was that he was bent on trying to perfect a style that's passe, the finesse game. He didn't change with the times and it hurt us. The same could be said about Crawford to a degree. We need someone with their hand on the pulse of the game, someone on the cutting edge of the wedge with an instinct for establishing new standards and for setting the bar where it needs to be at any given time. Especially in the home rink. Someone that understands about setting the tone of the game early and forcing the opponent to play the game on our terms.
