  1. the "clear timeline" is he's skating now and needs to get into game shape. allvin spitballed 3 weeks. price had a very specific injury. list some other examples of goalies who declined colossally due to routine injuries and surgeries in their 20s.
  2. elite goalies don't go top 10 in the draft anymore unless the draft is bad. you're lucky if you get 1 or 2 goalies on any first round and it has nothing to do with their talent level. I'm not grasping at straws in any sense because I haven't made any claims about what demko could return (the goalie market is always fickle). the people grasping at straws are the ones suddenly painting demko as damaged goods based on literally a month and a half that should be discarded entirely because of how terrible the team is.
  3. injuries are part of the game and any concern is hugely overblown. luongo had constant groin and hip issues, he played great until we was 40.
  4. he's been pegged as an elite starter since before he we went to college. his pedigree is beyond reproach. no way does any gm or scout with a clue think his career is at risk of being derailed by a 15 game blip on the radar, playing behind a historically terrible defensive team with monumental off-ice issues.
  5. if winning a bunch of stanley cups doesn't earn a guy the benefit of the doubt with this bitter, entitled fanbase, I guess nothing will.
  6. which bad season? no team is going to be dissuaded by 15 games over the span of the first month and a half of a season playing for a tire fire of an organization, especially when the rest of his track record up to this point, since he was a teenager, was exclusively "elite goalie".
  7. take the best offer regardless of location. if you can send the kid home in the process, do him the favour.
  8. I think more often than not when it comes to goalie vs. his old team, advantage goes to the shooters.
  9. only if they re-acquire pedersen and bring elias pettersson v. 2.0 over to the nhl next year.
  10. "leaked offer" was actually "nonsense made up by canucks blogger". god I'm bitter. so, so bitter. how did our society get to this point, where honesty is completely irrelevant, even when it comes to journalism? when everything is for sale, nothing has value.
  11. he's using my baseless speculation in this thread as a source. I'm "close to the situation" in the sense that I'm in the same country as the team and post on their forums.
  12. that was already in the books when rutherford was sounding far more sold on horvat sticking around than miller. something changed in that equation and i'm not sure what, when or why. maybe they were banking on bo being more likely to take a discount, and when it became clear he wanted to max out they went in a different direction? no idea, but something definitely changed.
  13. not really related, but I'd really like someone to pointedly ask rutherford what changed with horvat. prior to signing miller, rutherford's statements were always very luke warm and non-committal towards jt, yet at the same when he was asked about horvat his response was glowing and warm and very confident that he'd be here for the long haul. curious.
  14. yeah, I found it interesting as well. felt like he was coming up with a meaningless number off the top of his head for the timeframe -- meaningless because he knows thatcher will be traded before he returns from injury? who knows?
  15. ...my point being, the return they received is no worse than what they would have got from a team that spoke to his agent and knew he was too expensive. but they didn't explore that avenue.
  16. the canucks only got a rental-level return. a team knowing they can't/won't re-sign him still wants him as a rental.
  17. let's see who's left and who wishes they weren't after the cull is over.
  18. I'm going to be very curious to see if bo commits to playing a defensive system for the nyi, or if he's going to continue playing selfish contract $$$ hockey until his new deal is signed. edit: either way I predict he doesn't hit 45 goals.
