    really not much to this for those who want to listen. dreger says hextall took a "hard run" at miller, that allvin liked the offer, but ultimately couldn't accept it because it was draft picks, there wasn't a centre coming back, the canucks aren't rebuilding, and miller is an important part of their future. "maybe somebody steps up in a big way, never say never" but don't bank on it.

    I'm on the side that if you aren't prepared to try, you have to trade pettersson and hughes. I'm also on the side that knows how to listen when the organization has been clearly stating that this is their sole intention since the new regime took over.

    because different organizations have different needs, priorities, timelines and mindsets.

    picks this year aren't relevant for 5 years. petey and hughes will be long gone before those players make an impact if you don't surround them with guys who can compete now.

    so what you're saying is you agree, they don't already have petterssons and hugheses that need to be supported in the next 2 or 3 years. unless you're offloading hughes and petey, building through the draft isn't an option.

    i strongly suspect it would be reinhart out of florida if it's anything. some talking head was recently speculating about smoke around him, friedman maybe.
