  1. from all accounts, it sounds like he's been playing really well this season, Leading Utica rookies in points, 6th in team scoring (5th in goals, 4th in assists) and i've heard nothing but good things from the utica fans about him.

  2. You've got to think this scoring streak is somewhat a product of Kenins style of play on that line. He helps create opportunities with way he goes out and hits everything and puts the puck on net.

I think with that there is definite chemistry between Horvat and Kenins and they compliment eachother extremely well. I'm not saying that Horvat relies on Kenins either.

the streak started before kenins was called up and dorset was still on his line, so it's not just Kenins, but I do love how they play together. Great duo.

I think it's just Horvat getting acclimated to the league and willing to push a little more offensively where he would have fell back to cover defensively at the beginning of the year. he's just going to continue to get better with every game, he's really coming into his own.

  3. good. Keep them over there.

Also bo sounds pretty cheap lmao

lol, totally. he seems like a real frugal small town guy. really down to earth. currently borrowing a car, how frugal can you get.

  4. Oui shud muv dis tread to kanukz tok cuz hez ah reglar nough.

    :bigblush:

seriously though. threads don't get moved out of this section, this thread will be locked at the end of the season (or next season) and people will then talk about him solely in CT. it's like CT people want exclusivity on all horvat discussions or something.

  5. After a Cold start, it's good to see Hutton finally at .5 PPG (12 points in his last 17 games)

#Canucks prospect Ben Hutton had one assist for Maine today. Now has 16 points (6-10-16) in 32 games. #NCAA' class="bbc_url">@Tyson Giuriato @TysonGiuriato · 5h 5 hours ago

Also he has 17 points on the University of Maine Website

    6 goals 11 assists

Huttons team has scored 86 goals and hes been in on roughly 20% of their Offence. Last year he was in on roughly 30% of their offence 29/102) So i guess he hasn't regressed as much as some people have thought

the team as a whole regressed due to the influx of rookies.

    this weekend he went 1G 1A 2PTS +1 8Shots 2PIM in 2 GP

  6. If we send him down the Coyotes get first dibs on him and can re-claim him and send him down to the AHL without having to pass through waivers again. This rule is probably the only reason we still have Markstrom.

they can only send him straight down after claiming if no other team in the NHL puts in a claim when they grab him back. if anyone else puts in a claim at the same time as the coyotes, then he'd have to pass through waivers again to be sent down.

  7. Don't think so. I think he has to remain on the nucks roster for the remainder of the season. Some sort of waiver rule.

he can't be traded this year, but he can be sent down. he just needs to clear waivers to do so, which would be unlikely.

  8. So overlooked that the AHL website doesn't even know which way he shoots

    http://theahl.com/stats/player.php?id=5645

    I mean, even by chance it's 50/50

Not only that, they seem to think he's a year older than he really is. I wonder whose vital stats those are, because they're not Brendan Gaunces!

Utica's own website also says 1993 and shoots right. i wonder if they are both getting their data from the same source, or whether one grabs from the other? anyways i tweeted both of them of the error, it should be resolved... eventually.

  9. His offensive zone starts are at 52.3% and his offensive finished are at 43.9%.

that's a very misleading stat, since he usually changes once the other team's line dumps the puck into our end and they change as well. it doesn't mean that they immediately went from the offensive zone to the defensive zone and stayed there the entire shift.

  10. Umm no, that's not even a rumour you're making crap up.

The oilers kept Leon because they didn't have any centers to start the season.

When they realized they messed up they sent him back to junior. St. Albert was not in a playoff position so they traded Leon to kelowna for some valuable draft picks.

    Prince Albert....

  11. They have no pressure to exert.

they could do what deadmonton did with draisaitl, and threaten to keep him in the NHL if they don't trade him. meaning he'd be gone from their team next season regardless and they might as well get something in return. But I highly doubt they'd do that.

  12. I'm good with that, the Jet's would have to have rose coloured glasses on re: Lack though...

he used to play in winnipeg back on the moose, and his girlfriend is from there. the fans remember him and love him, and management most likely sees his potential.

  13. Horvat stays, Benning can see what he has and the almost sure thing he will have in Bo (2nd line center) as soon as this playoffs.

So there's no deal to be made unless it is Jensen and/or McCann/Shinkaruk as well as a roster player like Higgins or Hansen or Richardson. I think the Jets could do better elsewhere....

I would rather keep McCann and Shinkaruk and our 1st this year...Kane and Kass out on the town could be brutal....

kass and lack going back might be part of it too, if it's Jensen Kass and Lack (and/or richardson) i'd do it. Kane would be taking over the role Kass should be filling anyway, and it would give WD less incentive to give kass some time.

  14. Speaking of trades, am I the only person who thinks that talking about including Horvat in a trade for Kane is total madness.

Here is another article (http://blogs.theprovince.com/2015/02/07/the-provies-time-for-horvat-and-power-play-to-meet-kane-trade-talk-and-bieksas-blocks/) saying that Winnipeg wants Horvat, McCann AND a first round pick for Kane.

I am hoping that JB will say that this is totally ludicrous. Right now I would not trade Horvat for Kane straight up, let alone including two first round picks (McCann and this year's pick) as well.

Kane is overpaid and this salary would be a big problem for the cap. He is injured and will have surgery so he will be of no value this year (unlike Horvat, who is very valuable this year) and who knows if he comes back 100% in the future. He is a problem in the "room" and is hard to coach, unlike Horvat who is a great teammate and looks like future captain material. And Kane has had disappointing performance for the past 2 years. (This year and last year combined he has 63 points in exactly 100 games and is -8 in plus/minus). For a cap hit of 5.25 million that is not good enough.

Horvat is getting better every week and, at age 19, will be a key to the Canucks for many years to come. And his cap hit is of course a bargain.

So I hope JB says something (again). (I know he has already said he is not trading top prospects of draft picks, but that was before the Kane discussion emerged, so I would like to hear it again.)

there is no way horvat would be moved for kane. Jensen, yes, shink, absolutely, but horvat? not likely.

  15. it was never a great trade, but a decent one, depending on how bo turned out. NOW it's a good trade, and in the future it may be a great trade, but initially it just seemed like it was an undervalued trade

  16. Not the whole board. Some of us are more realistic.

Maybe he means CT when he says "the whole board". Most of us in the prospects forum were like Bittermellon said: we thought we could have gotten more for schneider (or found it weird that it wasn't lou instead of schneids) but we were optimistic about Bo.
