in case anyone wanted to see their performance broken down with some more detail. -
corsi is merely a comparison of shot attempts, so a quick fleury against your goalie at the beginning of a shift before you get possession, and then a long cycle game in the attacking end with just a single shot attempt would result in a negative corsi for that shift, even though you possessed the puck for the majority of the shift. like you said, there are problems with every stat, especially from a single game sample size, which is why very little should be read into single game advanced stats

Virtanen might be a Horvat repeat. I suspect another year in Junior at 19 but what then? To young for the AHL and a possible wasted final year in Junior. Van might have to take him to the NHL. Fans forget about his off season surgery and late start this year. Where would he be if that injury never happened?
so you're saying he'll be in the CHL next season (when he turns 19 this august) but you think he'll be too young for the AHL the year following (when he turns 20 as of august of that year) even though he has to be 20 as of december 31st of that season to be eligible to play in the AHL...
Virtanen will not be returned to the WHL for an overage season.
-
Really starting to see him takeoff, like i said the other day hes using his offensive skills now, i think that was our first true bodrag in the nhl last night?
i think he's had at least one before last night...
-
yeah my opinion of wanting him to stay has only strengthened, not waned.
-
Cory Schneider 7-2-2 in the month of January? 922 save percentage ? Yea? He's making a bigger impact then horvat right now.
Anyone think he's playing Better then Kessler at e same age?
Kessler made the team out of draft, that said he was already 19, horvat a year later is 19, looking more and more like a season pro. Anyone remember Kelsers rookie year ?
kesler's rookie year was ho hum:
28GP, 2G, 3A, 5Pts, -2, 16 PIM
and he didn't really impress that much.
-
anyone have the interview?
-
horvat and kenins look like a match made in heaven. they are really gelling out there.
-
yupthats really cool do you just post the vines url?
-
hmmm, looks like vines work on the board now...
-
great goal on the 30th, amazing assist last night. he's really rounding into form. i couldn't have gotten my horvat jersey at a better time.

Had a good time delivering some honey combs to the food bank today with @MackShields #payitforward
-
McNally has had a better season than hutton I'd be more inclined to vote for him, to be honest.
-
yeah he's not really deserving of it this year.
-
There are 59 NCAA mens ice hockey teams (similar to the 60 in the CHL), and some divisions are just horrible.
he also sits at 14th in Win%
-
21st in GAA, tied for 15th in SV%, 7th in wins,
-
Not my vid. He looks so dominant out there, his speed and skill is already hard to contain but the players know Virtanen hits hard and plays aggressively so I think when he has the puck, opponents are so intimidated that they back off. Sometimes it looks like the players he hit are overreacting like the WWE but they're not, wow.
Reminds me of Eichel on a few plays, quick speed and that toe-drag to slow the game down then fire a laser.
here's the embedded version:

Love the fight, but what the heck does that have to do with anything?

lol you don't think Toews gets intense in the playoffs? He's all emotions out there
you think bo's not the same way? they have pretty much the same demeanor.

Lots of women start planning (or thinking about) their wedding before they even meet their future husband, if you think otherwise you are lying to yourself.

I'd bet she was quite the catch and he was smart enough to reel in the line
pretty much

Maybe I am too critical but isn't is just a bit early to talk about whether Virtanen or Horvat gets to be captain of the Canucks given that Virtanen has played 0 games in the NHL so far and Horvat has played less than half a season. Both are very good prospects, I agree, but this just seems a bit early. Kind of like planning a wedding after a first date.
My wife did that, and we've been married for over 10 years

"Sophomore goaltender Thatcher Demko put on a display with 22 stops, steering away several pucks through traffic including a penalty shot."

TBH, Bo's line was the 3rd line last game, Kass's line was the 4th and it showed. Bo was charged with going up against the best player in the game and shut him down effectively in the circle and afterwards. Very impressive thing for a Regular NHL'er to do, nevermind a 19 year old rookie.
