  1. That looked painful I think the hospital visit is precautionary just because it’s near a vertabrie, no rushing the kid back tho! Calder trophy isint nearly as important to making sure these injuries get healed 100% and he has a long healthy career for us

Not sure why, but I can't help but make a little smile when Boeser lets off his shot.  It's just something else.  Look how delayed Lundquist's reaction is on it.  It's already behind him by the time he sticks his pad out.

And this is with a nagging injury, I’m sure he’d have a couple more if it wasn’t for that injury . I feel like it robbed him of the chance to hit 40

  3. I didn’t understand how the score wrote us as the losers of draft day, but I love it when they make these articles and they make these biased sport writers look like idiots when the trade works out to our favour lol. I know it’s one game but damn I was impressed with this kid

What hischier is doing is really impressive. He’s a skinny (175lb) 19 year old, centering a first line in the NHL in one of the toughest divisions. On any giving night he’s matched up against Crosby/Malkin, backstrom, Tavares, giroux and is still managing to put up 41 points in 63 games.

Pettersson still could very well (and I hope he does) be the best forward/pick  in the top 5 but I don’t think it’s fair to undersell how good hischer has been this year.

I’m glad you said this I’m still unsure If hall is packing him or he’s the reason hall has maybe found his game but whatever he’s doing I expect a good career out of this kid, full props to devils rebuilding there organization in 3 years

  5. Didn’t realize this was a Lidstrom/Orr thread maybe you guys can make a different thread with a vote to solve your argument.

I watched Dorian’s interview after deadline and he talked about drafting Karlsson at 155lbs and watched him make the transition into becoming a super star in the league,I looked it up and as a 20 year old he had 26pts in 60 gp as a rookie as a 19 year old in the SEL he had 10 pts in 45gp

i think it’s safe to say that our 19 y/o dman still has potential to become a number 1 or top pairing d, he has put a lot of mass on over the last couple year and he may be getting used to it still

Well when you understand hockey a little better. you will understand that when players are over paid they affect the whole team. And I feel they so over paid McDavid they will realize they can't compete with a team with two 6 million dollar forwards maybe 7 million. And they will look at moving Mcdavid only because of the contract he signed and not because of how good McDavid is. Kind a like the untouchable Eric Karlson out of Ottawa. Oh wait he is now on the trade board. Anyways it depends on the Oilers season next year. And I do believe Leon Draisaitl is possible bait already. Imagine a good young over paid prospect or player coming out of Edmonton. I have been a Oilers fan too long to not see the writing on the wall based all on poor management. Had they paid McDavid 8 mill it works. 9mill would be stretching it . but 12 million they will learn very quickly he is not a 12 million dollar man.

I’m going to have to call it in the middle and say 10 mill. The draistle signing was awful one big season and a solid playoff round and he gets a blank check to fill out, the 2 of them combined shouldn’t be north of 17mill

Am I seeing it right that Colorado got sens 1st pick this year which is looking to be top 3? Maybe we can target Colorado for their own first in a trade as it looks like they will be fighting for playoffs.

If sens are thinking about dissecting there team they may give Colorado there pick if it ain’t top 2 regardless I would be down to give up gudbranson and vanek for top 10 protected pick cuz Ottawa ain’t getting any better next year with the talk of hoffman/karlsson being traded

Add a simple clause that, for players entering College, the team that drafts them, retains their rights until the player turns 23 or 24, unless the team has made no attempt to sign that player.

Not worried about it with Gaudette, but that should pretty much clean it up around the league.

Does not happen as much as many people on this board seem to think though.

No but def seems like there is atleast a B prospect every year that jumps ship, For instance will butcher would do wonders for Colorado right now last year vesey could have been depth on that preds playoff run just doesn’t seem fair both teams showed they wanted to keep them

It's not really just a college loophole though, is it? Any prospect can opt not to sign an ELC with the team who drafts him. They would re-enter the draft in non-NCAA cases, but they can opt to not sign with the next team that drafts them too. What's the difference between the NCAA and a CHLer not signing, then going to Europe until the expiration of exculsive rights?

I feel in all cases if you draft a player you should get there rights till there either 27 or 8 years playing for your organization

  10. They need to stop the college loophole anyways. It only benefits desirable locations which makes it unfair. I mean maybe make a team surrender a first to the franchise They snaked even, or if they really don’t wanna play where they were drafted simply request a trade.

  11. Id love to see us aquire a Pick from vanek that lands us a pick where we draft bokk and our future top 6 is a line of dahlen-petterson-Bokk

could see that turning out sexy when we got

    Boeser-Horvat-Baer on our 1B line

gawddd I love our prospect pool and to think it’s gunna look even that more sexy come June

For everything I have said about this kid, I am pumped to see him play at the WJC for sure. Has he played much C this year, if so any stats on how he is on the draws?

He’s been wing in shl and he said during his interview on tsn 1040 that he is practising on the wing for Sweden but he doesn’t know where he’s Gunna play yet. Clearly his strength is on the wing judging by his production this far

I’m not going to lie I was one of them but also I didn’t get into depth at drafts like I do now. I was also on board of glass over lord pettersson. Reason of why I have 100% faith in our scouting drafting committee looking at stats and highlight clips just simply is not enough to judge a player by.

  14. I know it may be a little much to say right now but should Brock have gone number 2 to mcdavid in the draft cuz this kid is looking special, I have been hearing people talking about him in coffee shops and grocery stores. I just got this very strange feeling he’s Gunna have the most goals by a rookie since ovi (knock on wood )

  15. Bennett couldn’t do a chin up and he played in the NHL as an 18 year old just to make sure you all didn’t miss read that he was 18! The nhl really protects its players in today’s game I wouldn’t look to much into the weight of somebody, Theo played his rookie season at 155 lbs when you could get away with murder out there, kids smart I’m not worried about him getting caught off guard with big hits on a regular basis, players are going to be to scared to take penalty’s with our power play in the future as well should make teams play less physical

Is there? We have a rookie 30 goal scorer on our team and no one gives a $&!#. Sure it's nice to have but these moral victories aren't doing anything for the fans. I want a cup. You want a cup. Everyone wants a cup. If EP is ready that's one thing if hes rushed to the show for the purpose of filling seats we need to clean house from the top top. Like ownership top.

30 goal rookie...I’m thinking more like 40 And going to be 50 sophomore with Elias feeding him

Im not discounting his impressive SHL #'s just hyping him to recreate that in the NHL on a smaller surface with faster and much larger opponents is no easy task at all

Next year he is a year older a year stonger a year smarter, he’s going to do just fine adapting to the smaller ice. He’s such a heads up player To. the guys with high IQ are the ones that find a way to adapt
