  1. Saw the highlight package for Boeser against the Swedes. Tried paying close attention to his positioning away from the puck and he was always in the right place. Big league shot as he was hammering the puck into the net from far out. He would always be moving into the open area and getting ready to one time the puck. Like his shoot first mentality. Reminds me of Ovechkin... not saying thats what hes going to be like, but it was nice to see someone getting open and wanting the puck to shoot. Showed some great skill as well on the breakaway goal he scored. Battled hard in front of the net and in the corners. Liking what I've seen so far.
  2. Puck seemed to follow Jake around yesterday. He had some great scoring chances, some sweet hands and you can tell hes gonna be a good player for us in the future. Good hockey sense as he was in the right place always. The one thing I find off about his game is the unpredictability of his shot. He needs to take control of it better as he fired numerous pucks over the net on good scoring chances. Maybe its just an equipment issue with his stick curve being too big that pucks are sailing off his stick. Don't know if anyone else noticed that.
  3. Great pick up. Hopefully he will come over to North America and not just stay in the KHL. Personally at that point of the draft I would've taken Glover.
  4. I am not comfortable heading into the season with Lack and Markstrom. Last year when Luongo got traded, we all figured our playoff chances were pretty much over so we accepted having them as our goalies. Eddie is still a year or 2 away in my opinion as a good #1 goalie. Markstrom in my opinion will never amount to more then a backup goalie or an AHL starter.
  5. Hahah well that didn't last long. Man I need to catch up on my hockey news from this weekend. Sunshine is sunshine.
  6. I don't like this move. I prefer Hiller over Miller. Hopefully it means nothing
  7. Going for Iginla makes no sense to me or for Iginla himself. Hes in a win now and his career window is closing. Coming into a rebuild or retool isn't going to help his chances to hoist a cup.
  8. Gagner will be great for the East and for TB. He has lots of youth to play with and will be happy to leave Deadmonton for sunny Florida.
  9. No more then a 2 year deal please if JB goes after him. I hate bringing in players a few years after they are useful (for example Sammy Paulsson)
  10. Will Smyl give permission or will the Canucks give permission for Iggy to wear #12 if this somehow happens?
  11. Everyone thought the Blues would be dangerous this year in the playoffs. They were far from it.. Miller did not help them at all. I don't think Miller helps us either.
  12. I'm sure the Canucks will be calling all available players to see asking price and see what makes sense for them. Lets not start printing the #30 Miller jerseys already.
  13. I just watched Think Like a Man on tv the other day. Terrible movie. 5/10
  14. I want to see what Shinkaruk can do before we decide to push him out of here already.
  15. I wonder if the Whitecaps have gone after any really big named free agents... Orlando is coming into the league next year and they've already signed Kaka.
  16. Lets get it done. Mike Johnson as assistant if hes down?
  17. Vinny would probably come in as a 3rd liner for them. I don't think this makes sense. Spezza would be a better option but would cost them alot more as well.
  18. Hemsky said no to a 3 year $10M contract. You pay him more than $4M a year and then you have Burrows at $4M on the 2nd line.
  19. I was a fan of Booth when the Canucks got him and excited for the 60 points a season he could bring us. Injuries and inconsistencies just never let him get going. He hasn't been the same since his concussion and won't be moving forward. Its unfortunate that he couldnt get it going. He showed signs of getting back on track but I guess its too late. Wish him well wherever he lands.
  20. You just got out of school. How much dressing up of your resume can you possibly do? Do you have lots of work experience to put on there? We all want high paying jobs... Nobody says hey i wanna make minimum wage and is ok with it. You can't survive. We all want to live comfortably. I just think your expectations aren't realistic for right away. Maybe 5-7 years down the line you can crack 100k and if you do it before..all the power to you. If i'm an employer.. and my two interviews are a fresh out of university graduate or someone with industry experience. I am most likely leaning towards someone with experience. All a university student has done is read books and learned concepts but haven't had the chance to apply them in the real world.
  21. I don't think $60k right out of school is going to be given to someone with no experience in the field. Marketing firms start alot lower in the $40k range.
  22. Realistically these days.. Its really hard to find a job in Vancouver. Even with a degree, you're looking at probably a $40k salary to start. Obviously this will be different depending on your field of work. $100k in the first 3 years is harder then you think. Cost of living is high in Vancouver and wages are low.. That is the reality. People are moving out of BC for better wages and lower cost of living. You probably have a better chance reaching those goals of yours in Calgary or Edmonton.
