  1. He's listed as 5'11 197lbs, so not that small. He shoots right, which is a plus, and has averaged just under 19 minutes a game. Not a bad pick up imo. Especially for just Weise.
  2. Vancouver Canucks ‏@VanCanucks 31s In 128 games with Montreal, Diaz had 41 points (4-37-41) and 48 PIMs. The undrafted D-man will play for Switzerland in Sochi. #Canucks
  3. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 44s #Canucks prospect Bo Horvat playing with McDavid and Reinhart on top line today. Shinkaruk with Petan and Hudson on the second line.
  4. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 19s #Canucks prospects Hunter Shinkaruk and Bo Horvat have been named to the Canadian World Junior Evaluation Camp roster. No Brendan Gaunce.
  5. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 19s #Canucks prospects Hunter Shinkaruk and Bo Horvat have been named to the Canadian World Junior Evaluation Camp roster. No Brendan Gaunce. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 16m With 15 forwards, eight defencemen and two goalies named, head coach Brent Sutter needs to release only two forwards and one defenceman.
  6. Wouldn't mind Erat in Vancouver, but Washington would have to eat some of that salary. Erat at 3 for next year would be okay. That or a 1-1 deal of Booth for Erat, though I doubt Washington would bite on that.
  7. Vancouver Canucks ‏@VanCanucks 5m "Schroeder is out. Probably about three weeks or so." - Torts
  8. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 3m Brendan Gaunce to play the wing tonight. Played there half of last season. He said it allows him to be more creative offensively. #Canucks
  9. From yesterday: Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 17h #Canucks prospect Brendan Gaunce with two assists in under a minute as Canada leads 4-1 with 12:48 left in the second period. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 16h 7-3 Canada over Sweden. #Canucks prospect @BrendanGaunce16 with two assists and fellow prospect @BoHorvat with a goal. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 16h #Canucks prospects through two games: Brendan Gaunce, 2GP, 1G+3A=4PTS. Hunter Shinkaruk, 1GP, 1G+1A=2PTS. Bo Horvat, 1GP, 1G. Not only are all Vancouver prospects chipping in, but Gaunce is really making a strong case for himself (on the score sheet - haven't actually seen the games).
  10. There definitely is. Look at Columbus the past 10 years or so. But these teams see the marketing side of top picks rather than seeing the big picture and properly developing the guys.
  11. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 6m #Canucks prospect Hunter Shinkaruk made it 5-3 with an empty-netter. Gaunce and Shinkaruk each with a goal and assist in Canada's win. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato 12m Correction on earlier tweet: Gaunce playing with Mantha and Rychel. Shinkaruk playing with Reinhart and Gauthier. Game was against Finland
  12. I'm pretty sure most guys really don't care who they play for. They just want to make the NHL. Look at teams like Columbus, Florida, Phoenix or even Edmonton the last few years. What desirable traits do they posses? Yet guys still put on their jerseys and play the game. Even if Gaunce didn't want to be here, he'll try his hardest to make the NHL because that's what he's spent his whole life to date trying to achieve. Why throw it away due to you getting pick by the wrong team?
  13. Not really. Schroeder has developed a two way game, but is primarily an offensive player. TSN had Gaunce as a poor mans Jordan Staal when he got drafted.
  14. Funny, I think that's on Gillis' list this offseason.
  15. Good. Nothing against AV - he was the best coach in Canucks history - but it had become obvious that the players had long tuned him out. Either that or his "I let the players coach themselves" tactic had run its coarse. I guess this means MG keeps his job. Pretty neutral on that, but if Ownership wanted to go in a different direction, now would have been the time to make the change. With the declining cap, unresolved goalie situatuion and 2 non-compliance buy-outs a new GM could have put his fingerprints on the team.
  16. I'm pretty excited for that next year. With the cap going down, they'll have to insert more youth on those cheap ELC's. Guys like Schroeder, Jensen, Corrado could all be regulars next year. Add in Kassian and Tanev and the Canucks could have quite a few young guns on the roster.
  17. Got MLB 'The Show' 13 a little while ago. Haven't played anything else since. One of my favorite RTTS (Be a Pro) modes out there. EA's NHL series could learn a lot from them.
  18. Liked what I saw from Schroeder last night. Made some nice passes, looked good on the powerplay, has really good speed, even threw few hits. Two few things I would have liked to see: Shoot more - he has a great shot. Needs to use it more. Drive to the net with the puck. To often he would enter the zone with the puck and peel off to the boards and try to pass the puck. Drive to the net and shoot it! All in all a good outing. Like what has already been said, he looked like he belonged. Here's hoping he sticks around.
  19. I hope AV tries out Schroeder and Kassian. They had some good chemistry while on the Wolves. Throw someone like Hansen or Higgins on the wing and it could be a nice line.
  20. Tyson Giuriato ‏@TysonGiuriato #Canucks prospect Brendan Gaunce has moved from center to left wing. Recently acquired Tyler Graovac centers 1st line with Gaunce playing LW
  21. I wouldn't be upset with that. In Fisher's prime he was as solid 2nd centre as they come.
  22. Burke also said he wouldn't trade Schenn for 10 first round pick. And that he would have selected Reilly 1st overall.
