  1. I never got the fear. Love the pick. Anyone available at our pick was going to need 2 years anyways. I'm stoked
  2. I always thought that this was the best way to get around the expansion draft and made the most sense for everyone. Added bonus that this expires at the same time Petty and Hughes new contracts will kick in. Just works for everyone.
  3. Good for Karlsson. Not sure how SJS will manage the cap hit though.
  4. I wonder how far that will drop him. That's a tough injury to come back from, he might not be the same player when he comes back.
  5. I am really hoping we can move up our 2nd pick into the 20s. No idea what the cost would be to move up 15ish picks, but if we can make it happen it would be great to to grab a forward at 10 and then one of the remaining defence men there.
  6. Wasn't PLD the guy Montreal wanted for Subban? I don't think PLD being a Canuck was ever in the cards.
  7. Benning better run up to the podium to select him then. Cozens is one of the few guys that could slot into the lineup next year
  8. Boucher is an interesting case. I think he's good enough to get an NHL two way deal from someone, but likely just as a depth piece. He probably passes through waivers. I expect the canucks to qualify him, just to keep him away from other teams, and assign him back to Utica.
  9. Interesting take by Button. Has us taking Harley, whom I haven't heard much about yet. Passing on Krebs and Turcotte
  10. I'm just rolling with the topic on hand..
  11. Acquiring Ceci doesn't really get him away from the high TOI, especially if we trade Tanev. Then he's still our "top" RHD defenseman on the depth chart and will be playing more than he should. If we do keep Tanev, its better, but we have to account for the time Tanev is likely to miss with injury, where Ceci will be forced into higher minutes. If we're looking at a similar assest price for Ceci as we saw for Guddy, plus the extension which I would guess would be in the $5.5 range, wouldn't it be better to just spend the cash on someone like (only as an example) myers? I'm not completely against getting Ceci for the right price, but if Ottawa sees him as a top 4 and wants that kind of return, plus the contract for a top 4, then I think we can find better value elsewhere. I haven't watch much of him, so my opinion is based on what I hear from those who have. I also remember reading a CA article a while back the compared Ceci to Guddy quite closely. So, I'm not high on him to say the least.
  12. I'd say to stay away from Ceci. A couple of my friends are big Sens fans and they all say he is constantly their worst defender. Plus in his last arbitration he was asking for $6m. At that price and what it would cost to acquire him, we're better off going in another direction.
  13. Obviously the deal would be contingent on us signing him. If we're not on his list, then no deal, but we have a hole on the right side that he can step right into, Vancouver is a beautiful city and we have some young, exciting players that we're building around. I'm not saying is going to happen, or even likely, but I think it's a good fit for all parties.
  14. Since we're on the topic of Fox, I'd love Benning dangle a third for him. Maybe Goldobin and a late pick gets it done. Would help shore* up out right side and give Rathbone a connection to the team.
  15. Besides Hughes and Kakko, who are the guys that could step in next year? I have a feeling that if JB is feeling his job is on the line, he may go for someone that can jump in right away to help toe the line of rebuilding and stay "competitive"..
  16. Nice finish to the season for Madden. Another year of college, then the A. Then he could be ready to jump into a 4th line role with pety, bo and gauds ahead of him.
  17. Usually I don't have an issue with size (and I know I'm beating a dead horse) but 5'7 is small. And at 20 years old, he's not likely to grow. At least if he was 18 there's a shot of him growing an inch or two, but now, not so much. I think there would have been better plays to target for a boom or bust pick with this pick. With that said, I'm rooting for him all the way. Hope he can prove the majority of us wrong about his size. He's certainly skilled enough that he could be utilized as a specialty forward and still be effective in the new NHL
  18. Glad we got to grab a couple of high profile D this year. 2019 looks to be stacked with centres. Should be able to grab a good one in the top 10. Obviously Hughes would be fantastic.
  19. He's really well spoken, definitely worth a listen. Hard not to like the guy and his drive.
  20. If we manage to get a pick in the early teens he would definitely be one guy I would hope we grab.
  21. Good thing Casey is heading to uni. He'll have lots of time to hit the gym and build up his strength.
