  1. If I was Willy, I'd give him the next start against Arizona. See if he can rebound over a bad start.
  2. I don't think this requires it's own thread, but I think this fits here: http://www.tsn.ca/talent/the-tsn-hockey-list-nine-chlers-who-would-be-good-ahl-candidates-1.119377 To help with the loss of top players/revenue, why not include a 'transfer' or 'buy-out' fee. I'm sure NHL clubs would be willing to throw cash at some of these junior clubs to help with their losses. And, from the junior side, the leagues could incorporate a 'competitive balance round' to their drafts, similar to the MLB. For every player you lose to the AHL, you receive a sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd round.
  3. A quote from the article: I wonder what the goalie coach situation was like in Florida - if they even have one. It really seems like Markstrom was on his own in terms of development. Now that we have two guys working with him, we're seeing glimpses of his true potential.
  4. Been pretty dead in here lately.. Utica Comets ‏@UticaComets 24s25 seconds ago Scoring change on @DeFabio24's goal on Saturday. Gaunce (@BrendanGaunce16) picks up the assist. His first career pro point! #Comets
  5. Jake Virtanen ‏@Jake_Virtanen 8m Such an honour to sign with the Vancouver Canucks ! I'd like to thank everybody who's helped me get to this point especially my family !!
  6. I never said he was a bad pick or even that scouts were saying it was a bad pick, but questions did arise about his hockey IQ.
  7. If by 'haters' you mean scouts and analysts, then yes. Jake wasn't my first choice, but I'll support him as long as he's a Canuck. To quote another Canuck prospect 'it is what it is.'
  8. The NCAA doesn't allow teams to pay to bring in players for development camps - which is what NHL teams do for players in other leagues. NCAA players are allowed to pay their own way though. Which is what Schroeder would have had to do.
  9. Last year Minny kept Dumba up at the NHL level until Red Deer traded his rights to Portland. Once Dumba had a shot at a Memorial Cup, they sent him down. I wonder if Benning would try something like that with London.
  10. I haven't watched any of Virtanen, but from reports, he sounds a lot like E Kane. I haven't heard that comparison yet, but Kane is a North/South player, likes to shoot off the rush, is physical, and from Vancouver. Sounds like a close comparison.
  11. Im thinking Canucks take McCann at 24 if he's available. I hope they take Kapanen (thinking Pitts takes him) or Barbashev
  12. Wasn't my first pick, and I still have my doubts, but I'm going to trust Benning on this one
  13. #1 is likely cheaper for Vancouver to acquire than 2, 3 or 4. Buffalo was reported to want 2 top prospects for #2. Edmonton likely wouldn't trade away their chance at Draisaitl, and Calgary has been reported to seeking another top 10 pick to supplement their own at #4. Florida is the only (and cheapest) option for moving into the top four. So if Jim and Trev really want Reinhart, they're going to have to pick him as soon as they can.
  14. Didn't see this posted. A bit of analysis on Virtanen and Ehlers: CanucksArmy ‏@CanucksArmy 15h Fresh fish: Jake Virtanen Is Good. So Don't Draft Him http://bit.ly/1lWk2aw #yvr #canucks
  15. Jim Jamieson ‏@JamiesonCanucks 1m Booth's agent, Mike Liut says #Canucks GM Jim Benning called him late Monday to inform that Booth would be bought out.
