  1. Honzek is ridiculously underrated in the public eye.
  2. So he's boom bust because he's short? Okay, got it.
  3. I see Karlsson as more of a 3rd line grinder RW with skill, but you never know!
  4. A good example of this was when Bjorkstrand got traded to Seattle. He went for basically nothing because Seattle knew the Jackets were desperate to clear cap after they signed Gaudreau. Bjorkstrand is capable of scoring 30 goals in this league.
  5. I don't know if we're even in a position where we can trade draft picks. By the time the OEL recapture penalty goes up, we are going to need those ELC contracts more than anything in the world.
  6. I would say Barlow and Reinbacher are nearly NHL ready.
  7. I could see a team liking ASP enough that he goes higher. Lots of hypotheticals.
  8. I know that OEL is a good guy and has had a successful career playing hockey, but he was the definition of an "overpaid bum."
  9. He's gone. The guy we had who was GROSSLY overpaid is gone. I'm happy about that.
  10. That's a great compliment to Benson. When you put it that way, I'm even more confident in him than I already was. This also begs the question: Will Detroit pass on Hughes a second time...?
  11. I almost wonder if the Wings would be interested in moving the 9th pick for DeBrincat. Purely speculation, but it would make sense.
  12. It's not like Zadina has panned out or anything. They need more high-end talent.
  13. I think he'll pick someone with a high ceiling, like Benson or Wood.
  14. Hahaha. Another reminder of why it wouldn't make sense to trade down. All these guys we are interested in are in our range.
  15. I would add Barlow to this list as well because his game contains all the elements that winning teams need. And honestly, the fact that Stevie Y has been poking around at Danielson and Willander should say a lot. Both guys would be suitable picks at 11. I do not buy for a second that we need to trade down just to acquire one of these guys - unless we were dead certain that either player would be available. I have seen mock drafts over the last month or so where Danielson, Barlow and Willander have been pegged for the Blues at 10. I think this trade down stuff has been narrative for the most part. I am not saying it will never happen, but we are more likely to just sit at 11 and make our pick. Remember when we were going to trade back to pick Pettersson? Me too.
  16. Btw gents, we're only two more weeks away from the maaaaain event!
  17. There is all this talk about whether Danielson has top-6 upside or if he will peak as a 3rd line centre, but it's important to bear in mind that he is a premium asset, being a right-handed center with size. Ask yourselves this: If a team like Vegas needed to add a player like him at the deadline to help them compete for a cup, how much would it cost them? Simply, it would be very expensive. Much like acquiring a RHD, it makes a ton of sense to add a player like Danielson through the draft.
  18. Lazy comparisons to former/current Canucks are not uncommon around here. For example, if someone says that a prospect has a power element to his game or is a blazing fast skater, you'll always have that one simpleton in the deck who will refer to him as Virtanen 2.0.
  19. 11 feels like a bit of a tricky pick but with no shortage of options...
