There are others with great potential...

       LDs             RDs

    Hirose  -  Johansson - 1-2yrs away

    Kudryatsev  -   Brzustewicz  -  2-3yrs away

    Maybes...

    Jurmo - McWard/Woo

I agree, future is exciting,  Allvin and group have done great rebuilding  prospect pool.

Could be interesting with Rathbone and Woo if they don't make Canucks..

Some team will pick them up if there sent to minors on waivers..

I would still work hard to add a d man to this group before season opener

this D corps is not a playoff d corps imo

I would go all in with our Corp in their prime now - Petey, Hughes, demmer, Miller, Kuzy, hroneck, Milky

    all in prime now

trade a two firsts, 25/26 and one of hogz/lettermaki plus a cap evener like garland or Myers after bonus

    targret Winnipeg - Morissey

    To VAN

    Morissey

    Lowry

    To WIN

    Garland

    Rsthbone

    Hogz

    2025 1st

    2026 1st

make them offer they can’t refuse

two firsts and hogz plus Myers after bonus… I am not sure they could turn that down

    beau Petey Kuzy

    Podz Miller Brock

Milky Lowry Suter - that’s a SC winning 3rd line

    Joshua Blugger Aman

    morriseey Hroneck

    Huggy Cole

    Soucy Bear

    that’s a playoff d corps

Never trade 2 first rounders for Morrissey 28 LD -- Had a career year 76 points?

    Previous seasons 37 point - 21 points-- 31 points - 31 points..

Very good D man but not worth 2 first rounder-- Hoglander- Rathbone - Garland

    Lowry 30 -- 3.2 X 3 yrs-- Morrissey 5 yrs X 6.2--- Never trade 2 first rounders..

Canucks are not ready to trade more high picks away..

SHL production I’m expecting will depend completely on his minutes, power play time and if he can force his way into staying in the top 6.

I’d like to see him be dominant or a stand out at the world juniors. The team looks strong, and where it is hosted is an extra boost. I agree the defence looks stellar.

I want some holy shit moments!

I just hope Lekkerimaki 18 - 5'11 - 185 lbs has a healthy season with no set backs like last year..

Also needs to show his talent on stage at world U20 Championships with other talented players in his age group..

Pettersson 19 - LD -200- 6'3 will also be exciting to watch and both top end prospect are on same team to follow..

For sure. I think Tocchet and Foote have a lot more to think about than what fans have been casually pencilling in after the offseason.

Cole AND Soucy can both play the right side and (not equal chances) but any of Irwin/Wolanin/Juulsen/Woo/Hirose/Brisebois/Rathbone could end up as #6-7 on opening night.

It will be interesting to see if the coaches build from the “top down” IE prioritize finding the best partner for Hughes (including Hronek) or if they go about building a solid top 4 or even a balanced 3 pairs.

There’s a world where they could say Hughes can carry a lesser partner and give Hronek / Myers the stronger partners. Or maybe Hronek finds some chemistry with Hirose or Wolanin and Myers / Cole look like they can play matchup.

With 3 new top 4 players in Hronek, Cole and Soucy plus Hughes’ “regular” partner in Schenn gone and Myers also without a regular partner ON TOP OF the glut of 6-7+ guys we’ve listed it could get pretty interesting in camp.

    Or it’ll just roll out Hughes-Cole, Soucy-Hronek and Irwin-Myers.

I don't think Irwin Makes #7 spot. Irwin makes a great mentor for Abby players and great depth guy..

There are guys Like Wolanin, Hirose, Juulsen, zbriseboise I would put a head of 36 year old Irwin.

    Hughes - Cole

As of now I think he's one of our 6 best D tbh, he's got the most important attributes for modern NHL defenseman (IQ & skating ability).

We have lots of guys fighting for #6 & 7 spots.

    1. Hughes--2. Horenk 3.Cole  4/5 Soucy 6'5-Myers 6'7. 6. Wolanin LD 6'1 -- Juulsen RD 6'2 -- Hirose LD  6'0 - Briesbois 6'2 LD

    Johansson RD 6'1 -  Rathbone 5'11  LD

    Woo RD 6'0

    Irwin 36--

    McWard RD 6'2

Love hearing this. He was definitely getting under opponents’ skin in the playoffs. Would love to see him settle into this identity in Vancouver

Well it will be interesting. Vancouver have big decisions as Rathbone and Woo will not clear waivers if sent to AHL...

Teams will pick up these guys especially Woo RD...

  7. Will be interesting what management will do with Rathbone 24- LD he will not clear waivers if sent down.

Also Jett Woo 23 - RD - 6'0 -200lbs-- Had great season last year and will improve  again this season.

Woo will get claimed this October..

  8. Pettersson 19 - LD -6'3 - ( 210 when by 2100) Will be #2--#3 D man for many years

Willander 18 RD 6'1 - 205 lbs  by 21yr old - #1 D Man for many year-- Elite skating and reads game well

Hughes LD -- Willander RD ---  2 yrs away

Perttersson LD -- Hronek RD.  -- 2 yrs away

    Very exciting

OMG-- Serious Petey doesn't really want the "C" with talking to media and his English isn't as good as he would like..I honestly think Petey is very happy with the "A" .. Hughes is  the new captain no question and he is very well spoken and respected by everyone..

Miller has that side that everyone has seen so big no to captain just the "A"

Also it takes a good group for leadership..

    Hughes "C"  -- Petey. "A" -- Miller. "A" ---  Support group Demko--Myers -- Boeser---Hronek---( Kuzmenko great personality )

Hughes had the microphone last game of season to thank fans..That was the first sigh and Tocchet likes composure and well spoken Quinn Hughes..

Canucks will have Captain opening ceremonies and twins will hand Hughes the uniform with the big "C"..

Do the Canucks have an official captain in 2023-24?
If so, who will it be? And when will it be announced?

I can’t see it going to anyone other than Petey or Miller. Don’t get me wrong, Hughes is a great leader is many respects, but I just don’t see him wearing the C.

I’d be fine with either Petey or Miller, and my gut says it’ll be Petey. Unless he refuses to sign long term, then Miller.

I am almost certain Garland and Myers are moved before opening night.

Yes I agree I think Myers will be trade after his 5 million bonus is paid Sept 2.. New team will have 1 million to pay with cap hit of 6 million.. I think Coyotes, Anaheim or Chicago will be trading for Myers..

Myers would also be a good trade chip at trade deadline big 6'7 RD would be great for a contender on playoff run..

Maybe not but throwing Silovs into the fire or hoping Martin can regain some sort of NHL form isn’t a great plan A IMO.

Silovs might be the guy but I’d rather see him get lots of games in Abby to start.

I also don’t have much faith in Martin anymore. I think he went on a run of Hamburglar proportions and that’s it.

    Silovs had a very good AHL season GP 44-- 2.44 GAA - 9.09 SV% -- NHL GP 5 --2.75 GAA - SV% 908

    World championship Latvia  GP10-- 2.20 GAA -  SV% 921-- MVP tourney

Silovs  22-- 6'4 - Very bright future -- So young doing great

This season 2023-24 -- call up for some NHL home games 10--15  --  AHL 30--35

    Then #3 C --36--44 POINT  AT 36-37 YEAR OLD

Miller and Wilson seem like the two livable ones.  Huberdeau and Horvat are getting bought out.

I don't think teams would buy either players out..

Horvat will be over paid but will produce 55--62 points-- PP--great in circle and plays solid 200 foot game -- should be 6.8--7 mil

Huberdeau -- lucky to hit 76--82 points---- over paid-- tops. 8.5 -- 8.8 million

Miller has the best contract by far. He’s the only one who actually lived up to it last year. Huberdeau is by far the worst contract. He will get bought out for sure. Horvat won’t live up to his deal but he probably plays it out in full. He will be a very expensive 3rd line centre for several years. Wilson will probably get bought out as well.  Wilson might be the one who gets his contact ended first.

So in order, Miller, Wilson, Horvat and Huberdeau.

Millers contract is thes best out of these 4 player..Miller will also put up decent points.Maybe 3rd line centre last 2 yrs of contract..

Miller should put up decent points next 5 yrs-- 68--78 point-- last 2 years 36--42 points----- 8 million

    Horvat  next 5 yrs --54--63 points---- last 3 yrs 35--40 --- 8.5 million

Huberdeau  next 5 yrs --72--80  points-- 10.5 million

    Wilson--next 5 yrs-- 46--54 points---- 6.5 million

I think this is reasonable because we get a young cost controlled RD and cap space and Beauvillier may not resign there, also, Peeke is a worst a no. 5 dman possibly good Peak as a top 4 ;)

Peeke RD  25--RD-6'3 -  2.7 X 3 yrs  - Has upside and was paired with Werenski and played well in 2021-22 season..

Peeke is # 4 -- # 5 RD man --would be okay with Peeke trade ---Columbus was awful

Canadian dollar is 30% less. Guys are paid in US funds. I’m pretty sure Petey’s agent is well aware that 10 mil US is 13 mil for Petey in Vancouver. IMHAO this exchange rate was a factor in us getting Miller on such a team friendly deal. He’s getting 8 US but seeing 10+ Canadian after exchange. That’s a huge selling factor for Petey too.

Petey will get a great deal only 24, previous 2 yrs scored more then 30 goals.. Last season hit 102 points..

New contract starts at 10.7-- 11.3 million  X 8 yrs-- Maybe he signs 3 yrs X 10.8-  cashes in for bigger contract with cap going up?

Will be interesting but it won't be cheap top 10 forward and so young..

Thats  the cost  if you want to keep a top 10 forward..

Last 2 years Benson had 161 pts in 118 reg season WHL games and 40 pts in 30 playoff games.

    Local kid.

He will be ready to play in the NHL in a year.

Willander won't be ready for the NHL full time for 3 years.

Benson scale is Schroeder to top 6 point per game NHL'er.

Willander scale is Juolevi to Hughes partner.

Who is more likely to finish the highest on their scale? Hard to say.

Hoglander is tradeable and so is Garland in 2 years.  Having too many small wingers is not an issue. If Benson pans out the other guys can be moved.

Benson could positively affect the team for two years before Willander even shows up.

    Lots to consider here...

Also have to take in consideration stats Benson played on 2nd best team in WHL? Lots of great talent to support him..

Benson is good but NHL whole new world. Playing against best hockey players in the world?

If Willander turns into a great partner to Hughes in a "Brent Burns/Paul Martin" type pairing in the future, I'll be stoked.

Willander 18 -6'2-- will be a very solid #2 RD man - 24--26 MINS.. Has edge to his game, plays complete 200 foot game with elite skating..

    Along with,   Pettersson-19 -  6'3 LD--#3 D MAN IN 2 YRS

Glad Alvin Picked Willander 18 -6'2 -RD - great skating - plays both ends upside is very good #2 D MAN--How hard is it to find RD men unless you draft and develop?

    RD = Hronek - 1st and 2nd

Centre men also very hard to find unless you develop?Example Miller C/W - Cost 1st and 2nd

Wingers unless there elite there easy to trade for...

So happy with Willander and he is already in NA not staying in Sweden like so many players do for 2 years..

    2023 draft - was hoping for -1. Danilson 6'1 C went #9 --- 2.Dvorsky C-6'2 went #10 --3. Willander 6'2 RD

I wouldn't say so in general, but it may be a now or never with the Canucks. He is waiver eligible so if he doesn't make it with the Canucks, there is a good chance that another team will take a chance on him. Given the depth, he very well find himself on the waiver wire going down, but I think he would garner significant interest.

Given his tools of being a right handed dman who can play both sides, along with being a physical/aggressive player, I'm sure a team will take a gamble on him, particularly teams who are very shallow on the backend and are retooling or rebuilding like Philadelphia, Minnesota, St Louis, and San Jose.

I would agree with @Ray_Cathode that Woo's best attributes serve as a physical but almost like a rover like dman. He isn't a stay at home, but likes to gamble at times and attack rather than contain in all 3 zones.

That sucks as some team will pick up Woo for sure upside is very good.. Also have Rathbone and he won't clear waivers..

    Will be interesting..

Is it possible that Woo can be Hughes partner, the stay at home physical half?

I think Woo is at least another season away of just becoming #6 or #7 D man put not ready for top pairing..That would be asking a lot in his development.. He missed a lot of development time between Covid and injuries but had a fantastic season lat year top 4 guy in Abby..
