That's a bad deal for Seattle for Soucy. He's not worth 4M at 4 years.
Canucks should not go above that, so if he can't find anything better than that, then he's probably staying in Seattle.
I can't see Seattle not resigning Soucy and Dunn with 20 million cap space..
Dunn around 6.2 million -- Soucy 28--6'5 lots of teams want this type of D man, gritty and big..
Soucy sign between 3.4 --4.0 million X 4 yrs.
He would look good in Vancouver.

I would love for us to trade up and get who we want.
Miller I just don't know if he will be able to get us what we want.
I hope it works out and we move up.
If Canucks trade Miller big hole at #2 C?? Not easy to find 75 point players like Miller
Then Canucks have to find 2nd and 3rd line centers.. Big troubles then..
Already have #1 Petey #2 Miller so awesome have two top centres.

Playing with Hughes, it was hard to tell just how good Juulsen was - playing with Hughes is like Pixie dust - it magically makes you look better than you are. Still, when playing with Hughes he was quite effective - decent size, decent skater, pretty physical, decent puck handler, didn't get caught out of position, knew his role - I'm not sure that a better player would be that much more effective with Hughes - so long as you can deliver the puck to Hughes your zone escapes will be 100 % easier. The other effect that Schenn brought to playing with Hughes was his role as guardian angel - he was very good (and probably still is) at pest control. I would not at all be averse to seeing Schenn back here again - especially with Hronek and Bear hurt on the right side.
I really like Woo, and how much he improved with the great coaching support in Abby in the past season, but I think he needs a year of coming in as an injury replacement for short stays to get acclimatized to the NHL in a protected situation. Like Burroughs, Woo can also play either side. I'm not sure he's ready, yet, for a full time role. His confidence has been restored in the past season, and I'd like to see him retain it - not sure that throwing him to the wolves would help that. Watching Johansson in Abby at the end of last season, he looked pretty sound, but he too might need a couple of months of acclimatization. I like Burroughs, he is a guy that is all heart, he'll do anything to help you win, but I'm not sure that he is a full time NHLer... yet! But a seven or eight role would not be a bad thing. And, if you play against a team that likes to get rambunctious with the talent, he is the kind of guy that can help to keep them healthy - and being able to play either side helps in that utility role.Woo played great last season.Remember previous season he dressed as forward in there 3 playoff games..
This past season Woo really improved and showed. Lets hope he improves this season and gets in 8-10 NHL games..
Liked watching Woo in WHL very gritty stay at home D man and RH shot.

To be honest I don’t think we sign this guy. Woo is younger and a lot better. Meaner and healthier. It’s bye bye to Juulsson.
I don't think Woo is better then Juulsen at this point? Woo never played NHL games last season? Juulsen played 12 NHL game and then got injured.

I don't think I'd give up our 1st for Hanifin, we've made enough desperate moves and it'd really throw this team's prospect pool in the gutter if we end up trading away 3 high picks in one year, not to mention not having a 2nd next year too.
Calgary surely want some scoring help, their stars didn't produce and they need help up front in their top-6.
As much as I love Boeser, I could really see him as a Flame in a swap with Hanifin. We'd probably have to add a depth defenceman to help their numbers, either Burroughs after re-signing (ouch) or Rathbone (again, I could see him having success as a Flame). It'd really hurt to have more ex-Canucks on that team but for once, we'd end up with the better player.
Hanifin would unlock this defence. He made one of the best shutdown pairings in the league with Tanev not long ago. He's still young, big and strong and a reliable two-way defenceman, not much offence but sound defensively which is what we need. He'd make the absolute perfect partner for Hronek - a very versatile pairing who could realistically play together for the next 5 years and really start to grow some chemistry.
Can't afford Hanifin 26- 6'2-- #2 D man plays 22--24 mins-- will demand ( 6.2 --6.6 Million X 7 yrs)
Severson 29 just signed for 6 million X 8 yrs
We have Hughes 7.8 -- Hronek net contract 6.3 million-- please sign -Graves 4.1--4.5 millionX 4 yrs

Yes sign Ryan Graves 28--LD - 6'5 - 220lbs- PK - log 21--23 mins--gritty #3 guy makes Vancouver much better.

Yes yes that way better...We need more grit and toughness...We have so many soft smaller forwards.. Pageau 30 - 5'10--180 lbs
3 yrs X 5 million
Can't see Tocchet wanting more smaller guys... Grit guy like Colton Sissons 29 - 6'1 -200 Right C - Local - 3 yrs X 2.8 million

Vancouver trades
Brock Boeser 6.65M x 2 years.
New York Islanders trades
Jean-Gabriel Pageau 5M x 3 years.2023 4th round pick.
Why does the Vancouver Canucks do this?
They trade from a winger surplus to gain a spot needed. Pageau is an elite defensive top 9 right shot C who despite 68.7% even-strength D-zone starts scored 40 points on a defensive team. He has been a consistent 55%+ faceoff Center, secondary scoring producer and fills a significant void both at C and on the PK. He also plays physically, having 170+ hits in each of the past two seasons. Canucks also gain 1.65M in cap next year in the process.
Why does the New York Islanders do this?
They trade from a centre surplus in order to gain aid needed at wing. Although they gain a bit of cap they get a bit more younger and help offensively they need in the top 6 wings.
This trade would give us over 8M in cap which would help us try to retool the D-core even more so with us having acquired cap while getting a pretty good 3rd C.
Please no no Pageau 5'10 - 180 lbs - 30 yrs old.. We need more grit and size not more small forward big pass and 5 million X 3yrs.
Also 30 yrs old..

Rather Canucks keep picks or trade a pick for proven NHL player under 25..

So clearly management doesnt have any patience
Problem is theyve backed themselves into a corner with this buyout. Theyre clearing enough cap space but incurring a big enough cap hit to improve the club exactly 0%.
Id rather they have done nothing, and waited for OEL to rebound, but alternatively, do EVERYTHING
Assuming Pearson and Poolman ride LTIR all year long
To Toronto:
Demko
To Vancouver:
2023 1st (Bostons)
Knies
Niemela
(Toronto needs a goaltender and they need it now, no more of this matt murray nonsense)
To LA
Hoglander
2023 3rd round pick (Torontos)
To Vancouver
Matt Roy
(LA has a glut of young defensemen who can take roy's place and could use the cap space, esp after signing Gavrikov)
To Boston:
2023 3rd round pick (Vancouvers)
Noah Juulsen
To Vancouver:
Derek Forbort
Boston frees up cap space (they must do so) and gets a decent RD prospect who plays a similar style to forbort
To Columbus:
Vancouver 2023 1st (11oa)
Boston 2023 1st (28oa)
Vancouver 2024 1st (unprotected)
Vasily Podkolzin
To Vancouver:
Columbus 2023 1st (3oa) - and draft Leo Carlsson
To Arizona:
Myers (after bonus is paid)
To Vancouver:
Future considerations
Arizona pays next to no real cash, can retain cap at the deadline, and flip Myers at the deadline to another team for a pick and have him off the books the following year.
UFA Signings:
Graves (5x5)
Acciari (2x 2.5)
Jarry (6x6)
Lineup next year:
Kuzmenko-Petey-Beauvillier
Mikheyev-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Carlsson-Garland
Studnicka-Acciari-Aman
Hughes-Roy
Graves-Hronek
Hirose-Forbort (Forbort can play the right side)
Better lineup and added Niemela + Knies to our prospect pool
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Never make that trade.. Canucks want to keep first rounders? Giving up 11th O/A -- 1st rounder 2024 ---- Boston 28th O/A- Podkolzin ? Draft Carlsson 3rd O/A Never Never.
Basically 4 first rounders for Carlsson
Won't happen.. Never

I disagree. Bear is a high character guy. When we got him (pretty much for free) from Carolina he came here and stayed publicly about our club’s lack of structure and preparation. He immediately showed leadership. IMHAO Bear is a great teammate and very good bottom six d man. He’s also a guy who can eat top four minutes when needed. We should qualify him at the 2.2 needed to keep him.
Yes for sure Vancouver have to qualify him try and get a decent AAV like 2 yrs X 2---2.3 million tops.
Bear showed he can play # 3 - #5 played decent and he is a RD man that can skate..Wants to play in Vancouver.

No, the Hronek trade was definitely not enough.
Canucks need a big top 4 D-man to play opposite Hughes.
Should be minimum 6'3" 215 lbs and 25 years or younger.
Also need a bottom pairing big D... either Schenn or similar... preferably younger.
Zadorov would be a good fit.
Zadorov 28 yrs old - 6'5 LD more like a # 5 guy...

Those type of D men are so hard to find especially if you are talking top 4 D man? That would be a high cost?
1st rounder and top prospect..
Even a big gritty guy like Greaves 6'5 -230 -- 28 LD - UFA -- will demand 4--4.5 million X 4 yrs..
