  1. Torts really has to stop with this 'oh boy this is ridiculous' reaction after every goal, it really doesnt make him look good...defeated attitude coming out way too much..

oh and well played boys, 4 in the corner, that aint coaching, thats players having repeated brain farts

Its embarrassing. You don't see a single coach acting that wait. Its like he wants to get fired.

  2. knowledge on how the NHL works and why coaches get fired says you're wrong Torts will be here next year Gillis will be fired

Knowledge of the NHL suggests that anytime a GM goes, the coach is gong to go. Typically when a new GM comes in he wants to pick 'his guy'.

If MG goes, you can bet Torts is going to go as well.

  3. how many times does it have to be pointed out Canucks still feasted on very weak teams like Edmonton Calgary Colorado Minnesota almost always sweeping them

AV never dealt with LA Anahiem SJ Phoenix Dallas with only Winnipeg Edmonton Calgary being the weak competition

doesn't matter the winning percentage when it's a fact that Canucks went from being in the weakest division to the toughest division now with the team trending downwards before all this happened

again slam Torts all you want but this is on the players not adapting

You develop a system to fit your team's strengths. You don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole. Unfortunately, Torts only has one block and it doesn't fit this team.

I still don't know what Torts' system is. Lately all he does is lean over at the bench looking exasperated. Great body language from a coach.

  4. so does AV's system that started this downward spiral

slam Torts all you want but this was happening the moment the Canucks lost the cup the only reason it looks so bad is now the Canucks are in the toughest division while AV feasted on the weakest division i would of loved to see AV one more year probably would be fighting for 1st overall

How many times does it have to be pointed out that the Canucks' winning percentage against teams outside of their division would have still won them the President's Trophy.

  5. Watching the re-run of last night's game, and man Bo got schooled in the dot. I'll give him a pass since he's incredibly sick.

He only had a tough time in the last ten minutes of the game, where he lost two key draws in his own zone. Otherwise, he was extremely impressive.

  6. Biron sounded like he forgot how to speak English when he was describing whether Lack was a number 1. That, or he forgot the script that he had been fed.

I think Biron meant to say that Lack is not presently a number one because he hasn't 'won' the job. I don't think Biron was commenting on Lack's ability to eventually be a number one in this league.

And if you don't like how Lack has played the last two months, blame Torts. You don't ride a rookie goaltender this long, I don't care how competitive he is or how often he is says he is not tired.

  7. Bad Words- 7.5/10

Bateman's directorial début. Liked the set, everything seemed a musty brown/tan colour, which set the tone for the type of mood you could tell Bateman's character was in. I liked the first 45-60 minutes of the movie, but it ended too quickly. Was like the opposite of a Judd Apatow movie. Still a funny movie and some of the interactions between Bateman and the spelling B kids had me laughing pretty hard.

  8. Posted this in another thread.

    Kesler + 1st for Yakupov + 1st

We trade our 8th-12th pick for a top 3 pick. And get Yakupov who can create offense & would get alot of opportunity here. Then with that top 3 pick we can take Reinhart or Bennett or Dal Colle to replace Kesler down the road.

Kesler probably wouldn't accept a trade there but it would be a great scenario for us IMO.

Meaning that coming up with any combination of players involved in a Kesler deal to Edmonton would be pointless. He's not waiving to go Edmonton. If he was willing to go to bottom-feeder teams, there are plenty of other teams to trade with that could better address the Canucks' needs.

  9. Santorelli is not a full time second line center. I think people are being blinded by his success this season.

If we trade Kesler, the deal will have to include a young impact center.

Maybe not, but is Schroeder the guy who can play second line centre minutes when Santo isn't consistent? Whether Santorelli is or is not successful in the 2C spot, I don't feel that Schroeder can step in to help.

There aren't many 2C options in the UFA pool, and I wouldn't want management putting pressure on Horvat to play the 2C position in what could be a difficult year for the Canucks. Its not a great position to be in, but I'd rather see the Canucks rely on Santo (if Kes is traded).

  10. Adrian Kempe is being tipped to go late second round. If we can flip, say, Schroeder's rights for a pick to snag him, that'd be sweet.

If we trade Kes, moving Schroeder might not be an option.

If Santorelli is re-signed, Schroeder is completely expendable.

    Hank

    Santorelli

    Mathias

    Richardson

    Horvat

    Gaunce

  11. Every captain in the league whines.. It's their job to plead the teams case.

Being the representative for your team is not synonymous with whining. I don't recall Nik Lidstrom ever whining to the ref. You can argue your team's case without yelling or throwing a hissy fit.

  12. Coaching has been a problem since Ron Wilson.

Carlyle's 'systems' are a joke, his emphasis on shot quality is laughable.

We needed a coach like Alain Vigneault who would focus on puck possession, what a shame.

This exactly. Leafs spend so much time trying to retrieve the puck that they are gassed by the time it is on their stick.
