Trade Deadline Targets
Playoff Bound/In the Mix (Ordered by Fantasy Points Per Game):
Raanta, Antti (Hurricanes): 85 Fantasy Points (6.54/GP; 13GP, 7-3-1)
Jeannot, Tanner (Predators): 270 Fantasy Points (5.09/GP; Forget it, you're not getting him)
Kane, Evander (Oilers): 69 Fantasy Points (4.93/GP; 14GP, 5G 5A 10P 16PIM)
Orlov, Dimitry (Capitals): 214 Fantasy Points (4.20/GP; 51GP, 7G 17A 24P 38PIM)
Kassian, Zack (Oilers): 113 Fantasy Points (3.23/GP; 35GP, 5G 9A 14P 38PIM)
Dowd, Nick (Capitals): 108 Fantasy Points (2.57/GP; 42GP, 7G 8A 15P 28PIM)
Engvall, Pierre (Leafs): 113 Fantasy Points (2.31/GP; 49GP, 9G 10A 19P 16PIM)
Leivo, Josh (Hurricanes): 12 Fantasy Points (1.71/GP; 7GP, 1G 2A 3P 8PIM)
Bjugstad, Nick (Wild): 54 Fantasy Points (1.69/GP; 32GP, 5G 4A 9P 8PIM).
Point-Getters:
Brock Nelson (UFA/NTC) is available for cheap. Boston, Pitt, and Dallas are on his list of teams to trade to and I can approach his agent with 2 other teams as trade destinations. NYI are not going to make the playoffs, but if you want to improve your playoff position, he's put up 4 goals in the last 6 games. 169 Fantasy Points.

Myers made a bad pass after OEL put him in a horrible position.

The Master: 9.5/10
Maybe my favorite PSH movie.
True Grit: 9/10
Jeff Bridges is terrific, the child actor is one of the rare actors that avoids falling into the whiny teen trope.
3:10 to Yuma: 7.5/10
Ben Foster steals every scene he's in, but I found this movie too similar to every other from the Western genre. It falls into the child actor trap that True Grit avoided.
The Big Lebowski: 6/10
My least favorite movie by the Coen brothers, by a long shot.

The no look drop-pass inside your own blueline. Jesus. I watched like 5 minutes. I get that men are faster than women, but I'd way rather watch women's Canada-US rivalry over that slop.

I felt Izzy won, but giving him that last round is &^@#ing nuts:

Really SN650? I was listening earlier this morning, and then suddenly big sounds!! and Breaking News! "Oh this is seismic", said one of the radio guys. Then, they announce this. Who the hell cares? The Oilers have sucked with the best player on the planet since Gretzky, for the last 8 years. Move them to Quebec City.
I was expecting a Canucks trade or something, considering it was Breaking News to Canucks fans.
February: When the Oilers fire their coach and I do my taxes. It happens every year.

Looking forward to Patrick Kane showing the Canucks how to run a PP.

Pettersson has been unlucky with guys just not finding him. Hughes is always tentative to pass and Garland put himself out of position to make the play.

Wrong thread.

Props to the Chicago DJ for playing The Hip.

Man, I would love to be in-person to watch Canada in the World Cup... but I also don't feel good about giving Qatar my money.

I miss the way Bob Cole called a game. His voice would rise and fall with the intensity of the play. This guy gets all excited for the mildest of events.

Quinn Hughes has had a rough stretch on the PP the last 5 or so games. Too indecisive with his passes.

Cassie uses like 14 unnecessary words for every sentence.

Canada needs to finish ahead of one of Panama/Mexico. Those teams have six games remaining and play each other once, meaning that the most points the worse of the two teams can get is 15, which would give them 29 points. However, this would mean they both beat the US (sitting at 15 points), meaning that the US would at best go 4-0-2, giving them 27 points. 27 points seems like the magic number to guarantee qualification. Canada is at 16 points, so needs to go 4-0-2 to get above the 27 point bar or 3-2-1 to get to 27 points.
It is still a bit of a road ahead, but this team is winning the right way and boy is it fun.
By my math, 27 points remains the magic number, but it again requires both Panama and Mexico beating the United States (Mexico plays US at home, Panama is away). If Canada can get at least a point from the US, it really puts them in the driver's seat as they'd only need to get to 25 points to guarantee a top 3 finish (i.e., would need 5 points over their last 4 games).

Huge showing away without your best player. Massive win to keep ahead of the US and Mexico. Helped their cause with the goal differential too.

entitled reporter meets entitled player. Hijinks ensue.
Exactly. LD has done this before. He gets into a little pout and doesn't make eye contact with anyone, just looks down and gives answers that are entirely unhelpful except to express that he has no desire to be there. Being there is his job. He is fine to not like that part of his job. He is not fine to fail to do it. Combination of elite athlete and media personalities makes for headlines.

I'm happy they played well on this road trip, but I still think they're pretty much out of it at this point.
They should be out of it, but teams in the Pacific are so inconsistent, if any division is going to facilitate a basement-dweller climbing the standings, its this one.

Mikko Koskinen has a .900 save percentage average
Halak's is .915....................
Not a big difference
But Edmonton will think so!
We will take Koskinen at 50% retained as part of the deal
Do sweat it, he'll play better in Vancouver, with 4 lines and a defense in front of him.
If the Oilers allow 30 shots per game, over a 10 game period Halak saves them an extra 4.5 goals over a 10 game span...
Have them throw-in Munzenberger

Sounds like gyms and bars are going to remain closed indefinitely.

Yesterday I saw one of the people that works at my gym buying cleaning supplies to get things ready for 're-opening'. Really feel for workers and certain gym owners who are really getting the shaft.
The article from the Detroit Free Press states USA Hockey was contacted about the incident in 2011, but all it did was remove Boucher from the billet home and placed him elsewhere
Right from the playbook of the Catholic church.

My favorite part of the ASG is watching fans get irrationally upset about a game they didn't want to watch in the first place.

Bruce has been close to infallible, but not starting Demko was the wrong move. Not just because Halak wasn't great, but because this team is clearly in a different headspace when playing in front of Demko. Continuing the Petey-Hoglander experiment also doesn't seem to be working because of Hoglander's lack of finish. Adding Chiasson to that line isn't exactly going to be the catalyst needed to get this team into the playoffs.
