    Bodyguards =/= Depp

Can't think of a situation where getting $&!# on (actually) in bed - involuntarily - wouldn't make you a victim. Can't think of a situation where getting punched out wouldn't make you a victim.

Victims can also be aggressors, but let's not water down what Amber Heard did - and she IS an abuser. Whether she was actually a victim is a question mark, considering the lack of evidence and the fact that she was caught lying so many times.

I'm not saying Depp is a saint. I'm just saying that it's wrong to think of Depp as pretending to be a victim.

Congrats on only reading one of the 30 tweets and then acting like you are arguing against something I said.

Haney/Kambosos shortly after.  Two good tilts in a short amount of time

Lol, that sure worked out for him. Left cross followed by an uppercut from the rope.

Scott Walker was a head coach in junior hockey for 5 years.  He was also the player development consultant for the Canucks for 2 years, working directly with our prospects.  He was also the assistant coach of the Canadian Olympic team in South Korea in 2018.

You don't acquire those positions by being dumb and not knowing how to evaluate players.  Scott Walker is old school.  So are alot of other coaches in the NHL, namely Bruce Boudreau.  Boudreau was the one who hired Walker in the first place, so obviously he thinks highly of him.

I'm not saying that analytics doesn't have a place in hockey or in sports, but alot of the so called analytic computer nerds who know nothing about hockey think analytics is the only thing that matters, which of course is not true.

Give me an example of someone who feels that way.

It seems like you and others just don't like analytics and want to misrepresent what it is so that you can call people nerds and call others old school to make yourself sound a certain way.

What you don't seem to understand, or choose to ignore, is that Scott Walker being a good coach without using analytics is not necessarily a good thing. Because maybe if he kept his same coaching style but also considered analytics he could eke out a little bit more success from his players that might be the difference in winning one more game per year. These are the details that matter. Nobody is saying you can't be a hard-nosed, motivating coach AND also consider analytics (except for you and some other people in this thread).

If analytics were everything they would not scout players in person to watch actual games played.... Always need the eye test to confirm the data, especially when you take into account that it is a team sport with 5 other players on the ice affecting your "data" both positively and negatively.

    Who said they were?

Doesn’t every NHL team have an analytics department?

Scott Walker is a coach. He doesn’t watch the game from the press box. He’s behind the bench. I’m sure he would prefer to coach based on how he learned the game, which wasn’t from a computer.

There's this strawman logic out there that assumes the use of analytics precludes the use of coaching based on trying to develop skills, develop rapport with players, etc.

It isn't one or the other, and I've never heard an analytics person with any merit behind their name argue for as much.

Of the major professional sports in North America, hockey players have got to be the most poorly-educated athletes, and it doesn't surprise me that a lot of former players turned coaches are pig-headed about this. Ultimately, if you're competing at the highest level of anything, you should be using every advantage you have. Ignoring analytics simply because you don't like them (read: you don't understand them) is a sign to me of someone who has decided to put their ego ahead of winning.

Hot take: Robinson wasn’t THAT great of a baseball player, certainly not at the same level as a Trout, Prime Pujols, or even Prime Ichiro. So, Anderson comparing himself to Robinson isn’t out of the ordinary.

In matter of fact, if you compare Robinson’s first MVP season to Anderson’s last year stats, it’s pretty similar, aside from the RBIs and batting average. Although you have to factor in that hitting back in the 40s was way easier. Pitchers weren’t throwing 95+ mph heat and only had like 3 pitches in their arsenal. Anderson also played 25+ less games and had 60+ less at bats.

You can say there’s like 5+ Jackie Robinsons playing in today’s game.

I don't think that people who are bothered by the comparison are bothered because of the quality of the player... I can run about as fast as Terry Fox, but I'm not going to compare myself to him either.

Listening to Dan and Tabby and I'm getting a bit tired of hearing "It's ok to swing at the first pitch".

I think it is ok to swing at the first pitch if you've actually been hitting the first pitch.

This year they are not hitting it, and they SUCK at hitting with risp.

1/4 through the season, 7 games behind the Yankees, 5 behind Tampa.

I think the team needs to do something that tells the player's the organization won't let a season slip away.

How many times is the first pitch out of the zone (don't know myself, genuinely curious). It feels like most of their Ks are coming from swinging at pitches that are away (especially down and away) and they're so off-balance they fall across the plate.

EDIT: Basically exactly what Springer just did.
