RW SNP Martin Frk (36pts, 46pts)

C SNP Danton Heinen (just under 40 pt pace two years in a row)

RW PWF Julien Gauthier (8+ avr in AHL)

TRADE DEADLINE WRAP-UP: A STORM IS BREWING....TAKE WARNING

The Carolina Hurricanes made some moves this trade deadline that were with full intent of competing for a Stanley Cup in this remaining stretch of the season. The first deal made was trading Jake Bean and 2019 Carolina 1st for defensive stalwart TJ Brodie. This was a deal that all but confirmed Carolina is looking to compete now. Jake Bean was originally planned to takeover a top 4 spot, which led to Noah Hanifin being shipped out a couple seasons ago. However, with the Canes now in a battle for the Metro title, the time is now. It hurt to move Bean as we developed in his potential, but a player like TJ Brodie is going to massively upgrade our defense to help win now.

The second deal made was trading for Karl Alzner, who is a quietly solid LD who has out up very respectable GA/TA numbers, which is exactly what was needed on our bottom pairing. Our bottom pairing was too focused on offense and we needed to shore up our defensive game a bit more. While Enstrom has been just fine in his role, we decided to go a bit more defensively minded. We were quite happy with what we gave up for Karl, which was a 2020 3rd and Ryan Murphy. We didn't see Murphy in our longterm plans, and will be looking to Free Agency in the offseason to fill the hole on the bottom pairing RD.

The last deal of the day was a big move, and it happened at 4:59PM. The Hurricanes added talented veteran, Joe Pavelski. A true leader who is going to add a huge presence to an already potent Carolina offense - an offense that was truly lacking a top 6 C the entire time. This could be a massive boost to our top 6, as we are hoping Pavelski gels with the correct linemates to push this team on a long run this season. Carolina traded Lucas Wallmark and a 2019 2nd in order to bring in Little Joe. Wallmark didn't end up fitting into the teams' roster plans, and with him being 23 years old, letting him bake in the AHL was only going to ruin him as a player if he were eventually called up anyways.

Here is a look at the roster of the Carolina Hurricanes for the rest of the 2018/2019 season:
