  1. Tom is still only 26 and is just coming in to his prime, there is some skill there if his head catches up to the game he could still improve quite a bit.

It is obvious we blew our chance at the cup when we traded away Weise the overtime hero we never had.

    ...joking of course..

  2. I like Bennett but IMO we have enough centers (Horvat, Cassels, Gaunce). If Bennett slips to us and guys like Ritchie or Virtanen are still available....this is where we trade down and pick up a few more picks, etc....

Im banking on Calgary to grab Draisaitl or Dal Colle. Both would compliment Monahan very well. Or Burke could try to bully his way to Reinhart.

That could work, pick up Ritchie, Virtanen, Perlinni or Kapennen and get another good second round pick as well.

I'm in as long as Winterpeg, Carolina, Toronto or Ottawa are in (I would want a future 4th rounder as well, if we had to do Ottawa).

  3. I know this is pure speculation/ pure imagination like willy wonka, but I am visualizing and imagining Sam Bennet dropping to 6th like Doug Gilmour.

Ekblad Locked in 1 or 2

    Reinhart Locked in top 2

Dal Colle has locked him self into the top 5 with his strong year and playoff performance

Draisaitl is locked into the top 5 with his overall season play, physical maturity and leading his team.

Ritchie/Virtanen one of them or a GM high on Kapanen/Ehlers will sneak in to the top 5.

Whether it is Burkie taking a big PWF or Snow taking a high skill player.

    Leaving Bennett to us.

I feel he could have dropped his stock with the injuries due to his style of play and the need for him to gain strength and some weight.

This is my draft day Vision : :D

    Dougie Gilmore eh?

I haven't seen a lot of Sam but I do see some similar traits, I would hope we grab him at number 6 if he is there.

Horvat is almost for sure destined for 2C anyway with his defensive game even if he outscores the 1C (Henrick then Sam).

  4. First game for Canada at the U18 championships is over. They beat Sweden 3-1.

    Prospect Watch:

    Virtanen: 2 goals, 2PIM

    Nylander: Zeros across the boxscore

    Perlini: Zeros across the boxscore

    Kemp: 12 PIMs

    Karlsson: Zeros across the boxscore

    Quenneville: Zeros across the boxscore

    Fluery: Zeros across the boxscore

    McCann: Zeros across the boxscore

Thanks for that...are they broadcasting these on TV or the internet?

    Go Virtnanen !

  5. I feel the Mojo changing already... this whole run of bad luck may go back as far as when we traded Linden away and at least as far as when we made him give up the captaincy to Messier...

Finally righting a Major wrong this may be the turning point!

Just hope it doesn't mess with our dive to the 6th pick or so.

  6. I'm far from delusional.

The timing is poor if the ownership doesn't have a replacement who is a definite upgrade. I'm skeptical about that point.

This doesn't seem like a planned move. This seems reactionary and more aligned to ticket sales than hockey operations.

I'm seriously concerned about the owners of this team right now.. They are a larger potential problem than MG ever was.

The Aqualini's heard the crowd chant last night and pulled a Ceasar's thumbs down.

Maybe reactionary but I tell you what no one can deny the last 3 years the Canucks had the worst luck, puck bounces and up to this year officials hated us and it showed.

Something had to be done to change the Mojo.

  7. Bo does seem to have an even temperament, doesn't get rattled by much at all.

That should keep him out trouble, he may be asked for more intensity by Tort's but I think it is similar to Gaunce in that he thinks the game extremely well which takes a bit of time but gets results.

  8. see that's what i don't understand cause lets assume we win the next 5 games going 5-0

our record 77 gp and 84 points

and at the same time PHX goes 3-5 losing the 5 against, nyr, njd, bos, fla, pit

record 77 gp and 83 points

DAL goes 4-5 losing against losing against, PHI, OTT, WSH, CAR, TAMPA

record 77 gp and 83 points

doesn't this mean we're in the race?

My Reply: (not sure what I did wrong to have it come up like this)

Ask me 5 games from now.

Without Kesler, Sedin, Tanev, Santo's and with Edler in his current state, Stanton struggling to regain his form and nothing from Garrison...you may be able to ask me in 3 games, all depends on Jensen and Kassian in my mind.

If Jensen can keep it up Kassian will have no choice but to buckle down and continue to raise his game and his hockey sense.

  9. Thats great for Bo.

Who won best defensive forward ahead of him?

Stoked for the playoffs. Go London and Eerie!

    Best Defensive Forward:

    Eastern Conference:

    1. Barclay Goodrow, North Bay Battalion (30) – finished third in voting in 2012-13

    2. Scott Laughton, Oshawa Generals (28) – finished second in voting in 2012-13

    3. Sam Bennett, Kingston Frontenacs (14)

    Western Conference:

    1. Tyler Gaudet, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (26)

    2. Bo Horvat, London Knights (17)

    3. Justin Kea, Saginaw Spirit (14)

  10. I just want the kids to play next year.

Detroit just beat Toronto with 7 rookies and no stars in the lineup.

    Sedins/Jensen, Kassian or Fox

    Shinkaruk/Horvat/Jensen, Kassian or Fox

    Burrows/Gaunce or Mathias/Higgins

    Hansen/Santos or Mathias/Sestito

    Fox/ Grenier or Dalpe

Kesler is not going to be around, Booth will be gone and Schroeder may be too so I left him off as well.

If that second line starts producing and Jensen can find some chemistry with the Sedins it may make us to good to have a shot at McDavid.

If we suck until the end of the season it just means we have a shot at Eichel or McDavid and all will be well soon after.

Of course we would have a ton of money to throw at a couple of free agents...

  11. The problem with a top 10 pick is that the Canucks need a GM that can actually evaluate talent and has even one ounce of hockey knowledge. With Gillis, you may as well not have a pick at all

Can't miss if we get a top 5.

  12. Did anybody read the Canucks army article? They seem to think BoHo won't be around for another 3-4 seasons and will top out at round 40 points being a 3rd line center. If you take any weight into what they say, We shouldn't be expecting him to be the next Kesler...

Knuckleheads in the army, air force has the menza's...

Patrice Bergeron wasn't highly thought of right out of the draft, now he is one of the best and a possible Seilke this year.

That is what Bo will be in a year or two.

    There I said it.

  13. Hopefully they put out a rookie playing his first game up against Sestito, Archibald, Bieksa, Kassian, and Stanton.

This is such a lame season...Kassian is suspended, Stanton is injured, Archi isn't a fighter and Bieksa is just disgusted with the whole thing and has no interest in fighting anyone.

  14. Markstrom is an interesting case. He's pretty well dominated the AHL but struggled at the NHL level. I hope he can get the NHL level figured out because he has the build to be a goalie that is almost impossible to score on.

The only build impossible to score on is six feet wide by over 4 feet high.

That fellow would weigh in at 800 lbs or so... hey it might work...
