  1. oops, double post here...All the best Lou, the pressure's off...just be sure to keep a security cam on your car!

We just got a whole lot bigger at forward with Mathias who is 26 and 220 and Costello who is 23 and 212 Lbs. and should be ready for 4th line duty next year.

I expect they will sign a veteran goalie soon, can't imagine they will go with such a young duo.

  3. Really? Datsyuk is the best stick-handler in the league imo. I'd also put Malkin, P Kane, Crosby all ahead of Toews

Agreed, Selanne and Jagr can still pull that move off real smooth as well.

  4. Gotta wait and see what else might be offered, but if that's the best deal out there, I'd certainly still take it. I love the idea of getting a 1st round pick out of the package, even a lower one.

If Pittsburgh gets Kesler that pick will be 29th or 30th, they would have to throw more in than that, a 3rd and Sutter.

    Even with Despres in there.

  5. You could see he had something special, besides speed and size, at the prospects camp last summer.

He had a few great looking rushes up the ice and no one was taking the puck away from him, slick and sure hands.

Here's hoping they can talk him into turning pro next year!

He could be the offense defenceman find of the year just like Tanev was for the defensive defenceman find.

  6. If he develops quickly and is outperforming Kesler (just like Hodgson WAS doing at the time), then I damn well better expect him to not be stuck behind Kes or Hank.

If he can show well as 2nd line center in pre season I can see Tort's moving Kesler to the Sedins wing again.

On the other hand a line of Burrows/Horvat/Kesler should be shut down heaven, even start scoring short handed again maybe.

I am hoping that by next year either Kassian get's it together enough to play with the Sedins or we get someone to fit there.

Also hoping Dane Fox fits in there somewhere and a sniper for the Sedins might work.

  7. I had to chuckle at the Horvat=Toews, Shinkaruk=Kane automatic jump to conclusion by CDC after they were drafted.

    No.

Ya what a laugh, Horvat = Toews maybe, in a while, but no way Shinkaruk turns out to be a whinny Momma's boy like Kane.

  8. Henrik and Kesler are the only TOP 6 forwards Vancouver has. Not good enough.

i hope we have something like this next year.

    E.Kane-Henrik-Kesler

    Shinkaruk-O'Reilly-Kassian

    Higgins-Horvat-Santorelli

    Sestito-Gaunce-Lain/Archibald

Oreally O'Reilly no Daneil...no Daniel means no Henrik they won't part.

  9. This team is lacking 2 TOP 6 forwards, nothing to do with injuries, everything to do with Gillis.

    I hope you don't mean that Henrik isn't a top 6 player!?

Santorelli may not be a top 6 player but he played very good up to a game or two before he got injured, wore him out I guess.

  10. So...Horvat has turned into Hodgson somehow?

Aside from a similar skating style and slick passing they are quite a bit different really.

Horvat's extra 15 Lbs. should help him make a quick transition to the NHL and help him stay on the ice and not get banged up as easy as Hodgy.

  11. Hutton scored a goal while shorthanded 5 on 3! just Wow!

    Quote from hobey baker award page;

    Ben Hutton:

    2013-2014 (Sophomore):

Has played in all 19 games for the Black Bears... Ranks third on the team in scoring with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points... Tied for the national lead in goals scored by a defenseman with seven... Tied for 15th in the nation in points per game by a defenseman, averaging 0.74... Also ranks tied for 26th nationally in power play goals with four... Had a six game points streak earlier this season... Leads Maine in blocked shots with 23... Nearing the single season goal leaders by a defenseman in Maine history... Scored a goal earlier this season when Maine was shorthanded 5-on-3... Among the team-leaders in +/- with a +8.
