Debatable. Either way Aquilini got his way with all the firings and now they're picking 6th over all. Enjoy.

  3. @RobertJFTC: "Vancouver had the lowest % of shots from the scoring chance area this year, and they lead the league in attempts from defensemen." Brutal.

^Believe those are even strength stats - which is even more pathetic. That's Torts hockey though.

Well it helps to explain why they weren't scoring goals - weren't getting opps.

  5. Man the Canadian media does a good job brainwashing a lot of people about Carey Price...2.54GAa .910SV% so far and all I've heard is how sensational he has been

      RunningWild

I hear ya/ Fleury has a significantly better EV SV% than Price in these playoffs. If it was Lu, people would be crapping all over him.

@Gillyfluffball - I'm with you, ice boys in equally skimpy outfits is only fair :-P

  8. James Mirtle: "@gregmillen says on @hockeynight that the Blues and Blackhawks coaches both get Corsi updates in-game. Both also use same stats "service." Time to get a coach who uses/understands advanced stats in Van.

@intoews Wondering the same thing. They gave up wayyyy more shot attempts against in 11/12. League got more competitive that yr as well. Did they lose a quality dman that yr?

@Caboose Ya, zone deployment/matchups/pairings were just obliterated under Torts. Time to get back to what works (a la 10/11)

Ya, the roster plays a big role too.

But Canucks will always be a decent puck possession team cause they have Dedins (who are always dominant). And a great possession back end. They need a coach who can utilize it - Torts did the opposite this yr IMO.

@BM I agree. Stats aren't everything, but they're a significant part now. LA, Chi, SJS, Bos were top 4 possession teams in league this yr. All use advanced stats regularly (incl coaches). I don't think it's possible to have these great of #'s without paying attention.

Is Guy Boucher an advanced stats guy? Tampa was only a good puck possession team in 1 of his yrs there.

Ya AV was a big advanced stats guy. Brought it to NY with him apparently.

Ya, management does for trades/UFAs etc.

But Torts said he didn't know advanced stats, by his d pairings and line combos this yr, it was clear he had no clue.

Man I hope not (unless they're going for McDavid).

  15. Dat Frankie Corrado. Is he Luongo's son or just a much younger brother?

  16. This season, Kassian spent more time playing with Sestito than Hank & Kes. That's developing young players folks!

He's been decent this yr for his role). But he's he's a possession titanic.

  17. The people saying that the lowest we'll pick right now is 11th are wrong. It'll be 10th because TOR (9th) and OTT (10th) play each other. One of those teams will get two points and get to 86.

  18. according to Botch, FA has a raging hard on to become like Boston. That is fine if he means playing a dominant puck possession game, but I'm afraid FAQ isn't smart enough to see that puck possession is what makes Boston successful, not the fact that they don't take sh!t.

Ya I saw that an d cringed. So scared he doesn't realize LA, Chi and Boston are all top puck possession teams (regardless of physical play). FA is gonna F this up again, I can feel it.
