  1. The Canuck teams he played on definitely could have been a lot better but I look more at the inconsistency and repeated slow starts to seasons. The teams lacked focus and cohesiveness. Ultimately it was the right move to trade him, it was time for a change. Hopefully EP and QH can bring that focus to the group.
  2. He was good but also a big part of the losing...as a leader, he was unable to demand the accountability and attention to detail required to make the playoffs
  3. Over the past eight seasons he has played above 17 mins per game in seven seasons. With a number of seasons at or above 18/19 mins per game. Col and Min was the same season. He has played 3/4 D mins over his career and done well against solid competition. No reason he can't slot in beside Hronek and play a solid steady game.
  4. Domi 1x$1.75? Wonder where he will land (last I tract was 1x$3M) - he could add some much needed top six C insurance
  5. Poolman was a horrible signing but thankfully Soucy at least has the elite PK background to back up the signing - hopefully he can slot in beside Hughes and be steady 5v5
  6. Cole has been playing top four mins for a long time and his performance on the defensive/PK side backs it up. Seems like the perfect one year pairing for Hughes or Hronek (likely Hronek in a shut down role). Soucy is the wild card but he is elite on the PK and if partnered with Hughes can focus on playing a role similar to Schenn (steady at 5v5, give Hughes the puck, and be physical where needed).
  7. Playing for next contract so assume he felt last year's President Trophy winners were best option unfortunately
  8. Soooooooo Beau EP Kuz Mik JT Boeser Pearson Blueger Garland DJ Aman Podz PDJ/Hogs/Abby youth QH Soucy Cole Hronek xx Myers xx = Wolanin, Juulsen, Brisebois, Hirose, Demko xx
  9. All three signings are elite on the PK - if the young core and support pieces continue to show growth, could see a big jump up the standings with a solid PK.
  10. Leadership has been an issue on the Jets for a while - will be interesting to see if they can take a step forward or if it is a step back.
  11. Trotz not wanting him back says a lot IMHO - interesting to see if he is a positive impact in Dallas. Hopefully he drags them down and opens up another spot in the standings for Canucks
  12. That was when other outlets were not reporting it...seemed strange that the province was beating EF, etc.
  13. The Ottawa Uber video leak was the biggest red flag but other rumblings that he doesn't work very hard and ultimately sets a very low bar across the team...might not be as big an issue if he isn't paid like one of the "guys". Don't like him as a player and would prefer cap go to a better team guy
  14. If in the sub $3M cap range on a 1 year deal then they would have to consider it but I would be worried about the locker room impact of this guy He is going to Dallas it sounds like
  15. The signings provide flexibility (i.e. guys that can play both sides, moveable contacts, etc.) and also allows for room for one of the younger guys to step up into the top four if they play to potential.
  16. I would target a forward with more grit over Duchene - he has always struck me as a guy that plays on losing teams. Doesn't seem like a guy who has a high work level...don't think he would thrive under Tocchet
  17. Hronek was a real pain as well...he was very noticeable when he played against the Canucks. This is a much tougher d core now.
  18. And hopefully some of Abby guys can fill in 10 to 15 games as well
  19. Buffalo completing some sneaky signings, wonder if they can actually play as a team next year.
  20. Not a lot of money out there, have to expect some decent contracts signed after today.
  21. Nice, sounds like a good stop gap partner for Hughes, who can really shelter partners
